Background: The objective of this study was to find out the most important influences affecting the women’s choice of a fitness club and to show that a fitness instructor is one of the significant factors in this decision making process. Background: To assess physical activity using the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) among healthy, overweight and obese Indian health professionals. Materials and methods: The Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) was used to assess physical activity among 324 dental health care professionals (third-year students, final-year students, interns, and faculty). Metabolic Equivalents (MET) were used to express the intensity of physical activities, and are also used for the analysis of GPAQ data. Background: The aims of this study were: (1) to characterize the training load structure and the applied training means in typical microcycles of the transition period and the competitive season administered to young soccer players, and (2) to present exemplary training units of the competitive and the transition periods. Background: Many papers showed that long-lasting exposure to hypobaric hypoxia changed the metabolic cost of work and substrate contribution, elevating exercise energy expenditure and carbohydrates utilization. The primary symptom in Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive disorder of motor functions. Despite constant pharmacological treatment, the patient’s daily functioning ability diminishes, leading to deterioration in the quality of life. Clinical and experimental studies show that systematic use of physical exercise delays the build-up of motor impairments in Parkinson’s disease by prolonging patients’ functional independence and thereby improving their quality of life. Systematic physical activity, such as resistance, balance, and stretching exercises (elements of aerobics, Nordic walking, dance, tai chi, or the use of Taijiquan martial arts), is considered as possibly useful therapy in symptomatic treatment of PD. …

The aim of the study was to assess the perception of pain (threshold and tolerance to pain of the combat athletes in comparison to those not practicing any sport and checking whether there is a correlation between the pain perception and strategies for coping with stress in both studied groups. The objective of this study is to check whether the type of sport is important for the development of the dual career in professional sport. This study utilised the Chi-square test of the independence measurement model and student’s T test. It also analysed 7 scenarios. A final survey-list consisted of the 38 items of competences and it was completed by 243 young people who took part in this study; the sample included 151 (67.7%) athletes training individual disciplines and 72 (32.3%) team disciplines. The present study aimed to gain knowledge about the diversity of factors determining physical activity in youth from the V4 countries. The study involved 2145 students aged 15-17 years from the Visegrad countries (V4): the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland. A diagnostic survey was used as the research method in the form of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ-L). The aim of this paper is to specify to what extent goal orientation in physical activity and sports constitutes a protective factor against involvement in risky behaviors. The research group consisted of 430 eighteen-year-old high school students (females n = 203; males n = 227; athletes n = 137; physically active n = 198; inactive group n = 95). A sedentary lifestyle may lead to infirmity or disability. This study was undertaken to evaluate the physical activity (PA) levels of rural and urban seniors (60+) in Poland. The study was conducted on 274 seniors (60+, 146 urban dwellers, 128 rural dwellers). An interview questionnaire was used to collect data. The results were analyzed statistically using descriptive statistics, and a significance test was applied to determine differences between the two subpopulations (α = 0.05). The effect of the cluster randomized Home- and childcare-based Intervention to Promote Physical Activity (HIPPA) intervention on the everyday physical activity (PA) of children between the ages of 4 to 5 years was evaluated. Fourteen childcare centers with 102 children born in 2007 and their families participated in the study. HIPPA was implemented over a single preschool year in seven childcare centers while seven other centers continued their normal care (control group, CG). The aim of the current investigation was to examine the effects of court shoes, minimalist, energy return and athletic footwear on the loads experienced by the patellar tendon during a maximal change of direction task. Ten male participants performed maximal change of direction movements in court shoes, minimalist, energy return and athletic footwear. Lower limb kinematics were collected using an 8-camera motion capture system; ground reaction forces were quantified using an embedded force platform. The study aim was to evaluate the effect of a 6-week modified workout routine using the modified circuit weight method on selected anthropometric measures, components of physical fitness and physiological indices in competitive basketball players. The study involved 30 basketball players (mean age: 23.4 ±1.8 years). Modified circuit weight method sessions were repeated 3 times a week. Each training session was subdivided into 3 circuits: strength conditioning, exercises to enhance functional fitness and a circuit of sport-specific exercises. The sport of powerlifting has been extensively studied, but there is lack of information on an optimum list of features that explain performance in 19–20-years-old contestants. Therefore, the study aimed at two research objectives: (1) to determine a minimum set of attributes contributing the most information to an outcome; (2) to develop a biometric model describing the sport result. The aim of the study was to determine fundamental movement skills of elementary school first-graders and to seek whether fundamental movement skills correlate with the pupils’ age and gender. The study involved students in the first grade of elementary school in Krosno. The study was conducted at the beginning of the 2015/2016 school year. The present study was performed to clarify of training-related modulations of the cardiopulmonary system (CPS) response sensitivity to a hypoxic and hypercapnia stimulus in young endurance athletes. The practical objective was to estimate a possible association between the reduction in sensitivity to respiratory homeostasis shifts and young athletes’ early sports specialization. They comprise magical thinking, belief in specific sayings, ritualized behavior, specific interpretation of events [2]. They are practiced to reduce anxiety. Background: The aim of the study was to compare the influence of exercise on iron metabolism and hepcidin concentration between carriers of His63Asp mutation (H63D polymorphism) and wild type HFE gene males. Iron is an essential micronutrient required for various biological processes. Systemic iron homeostasis is maintained in a hormone-like negative feedback mechanism by the 25-amino acid peptide hepcidin. Hepcidin controls duodenal iron absorption and iron recycling from senescent erythrocytes using tissue macrophages through the down-regulation of the sole known iron cell exporter, ferroportin-1. The aim of this study was to determine factors affecting physical activity in pregnant women. Obesity has become a major health challenge in children. Fundamental movement skills(FMS) are suggested to have an important role for being physically active and decreasing the risk of obesity. This systematic review aimed to give an overview of studies providing evidence for a relationship between FMS and the weight status in children. A systematic search of five electronic databases (MEDLINE (PubMed), SportDiscus, ERIC, PsycInfo and SCOPUS) was conducted in January 2015. Kinesio taping (KT) might be of substantial value as far as adjunctive therapy of flat foot correction in children is concerned. The study’s prime aim is to evaluate the role of KT in terms of static plano-valgus foot therapy in children. The study involved 120 children aged 5 to 7.
