A106: Aerobic Exercise Modulates Gpcr/Camp/Pka Signaling Pathway And Complement-Microglia Axis To Prevent Synaptic Loss In App/Ps1 Mice, Jialun Yang, Shunling Yuan, Ye Jian, Yong Lei, Zelin Hu, Xinjun Yan, Wenfeng Liu
A106: Aerobic Exercise Modulates Gpcr/Camp/Pka Signaling Pathway And Complement-Microglia Axis To Prevent Synaptic Loss In App/Ps1 Mice, Jialun Yang, Shunling Yuan, Ye Jian, Yong Lei, Zelin Hu, Xinjun Yan, Wenfeng Liu
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Purpose: Synaptic failure serves as a primary contributor to memory dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Physical exercise has demonstrated the potential to thwart and delay degenerative alterations in memory functions linked to AD. Investigating the underlying mechanisms may unveil crucial insights into early pathological changes, offering breakthroughs for both understanding and treating AD. Methods: We utilized 3-month-old APP/PS1 mice and subjected them to a 12-week aerobic exercise intervention. The spatial learning and memory functions of the mice were assessed using the Morris water maze test, while Golgi staining was employed to determine dendritic spine density in each mouse group. To …

A109: A Study Of The Relationship Between Exercise Adherence And Depression, Yujue Chen, Junrong Lei
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Purpose: As the social economy rapidly advances, and competition intensifies, university students are confronted with both increased opportunities and significant psychological pressures. Notably, the incidence of depression is on the rise, with approximately 20.3% of university students in China experiencing certain psychological issues. Against this backdrop, this study seeks to explore the interplay between exercise motivation, exercise adherence, and depression among university students. Methods: A cohort of 25 subclinical individuals experiencing psychological issues related to depression was chosen to partake in a 2-month exercise intervention study. The intervention involved Salsa dance, with a frequency of approximately 2 hours twice a …

A79: Epidemiology Of Athletic Injuries In China College Rock Climbing Athlete, Bingbing Tian, Dehong Gu
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Purpose: Originating from mountaineering, rock climbing has encountered fresh opportunities for growth since its inclusion in the Olympics, and there is a growing awareness of the associated injury risks. Methods: Using questionnaire survey and mathematical statistics methods, this paper studied the epidemiological characteristics of sports injuries among Chinese college rock-climbing athletes by 6 Chinese university rock-climbing teams. Results: The incidence of sports injury was as high as 87.10%, and the annual incidence of injury was 3.39 times/year. The number of injuries was mainly 1 time (43.55%), and the number of injuries was less in 4 (8.06%;) or 5 times (1.61%). …

A73: Associations Of Screen Time Changes With Body Mass Index And Obesity In Chinese Preschoolers, Sunyue Ye
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Purpose: To understand the longitudinal association of screen time (ST) and its changes on body mass index (BMI) and obesity in Chinese preschool children. Methods: Parents of 735 preschoolers participated in our studies at baseline and were followed up one year interval, in Jiaxing, China. Linear regression models and generalized linear models were used to analyze the prospective association of ST and its changes with BMI and obesity in preschool-aged children. Relative risks (RR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were used to describe the effect level of each factor upon BMI and obesity at follow-up. Results: A total of 624 …

A112: Effects Of Healthy Physical Education Curriculum Model Of China On Student Physical Fitness: A Meta-Analysis, Jiacheng Tang, Haohui Liu, Zhihua Yin, Sixian Wang
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Purpose: The development of Healthy Physical Education Curriculum Model of China (HPE-C) was aimed for students’ physical and mental health. Some studies have proved that the application of HPE-C can effectively improve Chinese primary and secondary school students' physical fitness. However, the results of these studies were not uniform due to the differences in intervention methods, experimental periods, and regions. Consequently, the purpose of this study was to specifically synthesize the evidence for HPE-C for Chinese primary and secondary school students’ physical fitness. Methods: An extensive online search, utilizing keywords such as 'Healthy Physical Education Curriculum Model of China,' 'Primary …

A114: Promoting Exercise Behavior For College Students By Compensating Intervention Of Beliefs, Mengqi Wang, Dong Wang
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Purpose: Compensatory Health Beliefs (CHBs) are essential to resolving the motivational conflicts between the desired and healthy goal in college students. Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) framework is used to design a multidimensional training model, which compensates belief as a mediator, to research the influence of belief intervention compensation on promoting right exercise cognitive and behavior in college students. The purpose of this study was to discover whether this training model is able to inspire college students to attend exercise more effectively. Methods: A cohort of 218 college students from Guangzhou were involved in the research (20.04±1.5). The objects were …

A115: Revision Of The Chinese Version Of Physical Self-Description Questionnaire-Short For Middle School Students, Ruijin Wang, Xiaoling Yang, Liu Ji
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Purpose: The Physical Self-Description Questionnaire -Short (PSDQ-S) is one of the world's recognized effective tools for measuring Physical Self-Concept (PSC). However, Latent profile analysis of the physical self-description among Chinese adolescents only supported the 3-dimensional model of PSDQ-S, that is, it could only distinguish the Physical Activity (PA), Appearance, and Body Fat of Chinese children and adolescents, but could not effectively distinguish the 8 dimensions of Coordination, Flexibility, Strength, Endurance, Sport, Global Physical, Health, and Global Esteem. It cannot meet the needs of PSC measurement in the field of sports psychology in China. The purpose of this study was to …

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Purpose: The highly morbid condition known as sarcopenia affects middle-aged and elderly people and is characterized by a progressive loss of whole-body muscle mass accelerated by aging. It is also accompanied by a decline in muscle strength and physiological function. These weakening functions manifest as impaired physical movement, increased risk of falls, disability, lower quality of life, and even death. Sarcopenia is progressively emerging as a new public health issue in China with a quickly aging population, making it vital to investigate effective exercise therapies for sarcopenic patients. Methods: Sixty sarcopenic patients (aged 60-75) from a local hospital in northeast …

The Difference In Fitness And Lower Body Power Based On Mobility Status In First Responders, Serena Paterno
Senior Honors Projects
First responders have physically demanding jobs with an increased risk of injury. Previous research has shown that asymmetry of mobility and stability in the lower extremity is associated with an increased risk of lower extremity injuries, while increased fitness and lower body power are associated with a reduced risk of injury. However, there is limited research examining the relationship between lower limb asymmetry, fitness, and lower body power output in first responders.
