ขบวนการเคลื่อนไหวของคนรุ่นใหม่ไทยปี 2563-2564 เป็นตัวอย่างขบวนการเคลื่อนไหวที่สามารถระดมการสนับสนุนของมวลชนคนรุ่นใหม่ได้จำนวนมาก แต่ไม่สามารถผลักดันข้อเรียกร้องในการรื้อถอนโครงสร้างและความเป็นอนุรักษ์นิยมของรัฐไทยได้อย่างเป็นรูปธรรมดังที่ตั้งใจไว้ในช่วงเริ่มต้นการชุมนุม ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการล้มรัฐบาลที่นำโดยอดีตผู้นำการรัฐประหาร การแก้ไขรัฐธรรมนูญ หรือการปฏิรูปสถาบันกษัตริย์ แต่จากการวิจัยกลับพบว่า การเคลื่อนไหวของคนรุ่นใหม่ส่งผลกระทบและสร้างการเปลี่ยนแปลงต่อสังคมและการเมืองไทยในมิติอื่น ๆใน 5 มิติ ได้แก่ หนึ่ง การสร้างพลเมืองหนุ่มสาวที่มีความตื่นตัวและพร้อมผลักดันการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางการเมืองในระยะยาว สอง ความตื่นตัวอย่างต่อเนื่องของแกนนำเก่าและการสร้างแกนนำการเคลื่อนไหวทางการเมืองรุ่นใหม่ในการผลักดันการเคลื่อนไหวทางการเมืองในระยะต่อ ๆไป สาม ความสำเร็จในการผลักดันแนวคิดเสรีนิยมให้กลายเป็นแนวคิดกระแสหลักในสังคมวงกว้างทั้งในสื่อมวลชนและคนรุ่นอื่น ๆ สี่ ความสำเร็จในการสร้างความเป็นสถาบันให้กับพรรคการเมืองที่เป็นตัวแทนของคนรุ่นใหม่ และ ห้า การเปลี่ยนแปลงด้านกฎหมายและนโยบายในระยะยาว

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาประวัติพัฒนาการแนวคิดและหลักพื้นฐานของพันธกรณีภายใต้ความตกลงอาเซียนทางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมในประชาคมสังคมและวัฒนธรรมอาเซียนเพื่ออนุวัติการความตกลงอาเซียนดังกล่าว ศึกษามาตรการของการบังคับใช้กฎหมายไทยตามพันธกรณีตามความตกลงอาเซียนทางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมและพันธกรณีตามความตกลงสิ่งแวดล้อมพหุภาคี (MEAs) วิเคราะห์กลไกบังคับใช้กฎหมายไทยและกลไกระงับกรณีพิพาททางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมตามพันธกรณีภายใต้ความตกลงอาเซียนทางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมของประชาคมอาเซียนเปรียบเทียบกับสหภาพยุโรป รวมทั้งเสนอแนะนโยบายและมาตรการเพื่อพัฒนาปรับปรุงกฎหมายไทยในการอนุวัติตามความตกลงอาเซียนทางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมให้มีการบังคับใช้ได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพและสัมฤทธิผลในบริบทของประเทศไทยและประชาคมอาเซียน การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเอกสารในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลเอกสารทั้งภาษาไทยและภาษาอังกฤษ กับวิธีการประชุมสนทนากลุ่มย่อยในการรับฟังความคิดเห็นของหน่วยงานและผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิที่เกี่ยวข้อง โดยใช้แบบสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญ ซึ่งมีการสุ่มกลุ่มตัวอย่างตามวัตถุประสงค์ของการวิจัยจำนวน 27 คน แบ่งเป็น 3 กลุ่ม คือ (1) กลุ่มหน่วยงานภาครัฐ (2) กลุ่มหน่วยงานภาคเอกชน และ (3) กลุ่มผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิภาควิชาการ ทั้งนี้ เพื่อให้เกิดการตรวจสอบแหล่งข้อมูลแบบสามเส้า ในการเก็บรวบรวมจากผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญทั้ง 3 กลุ่มตามระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพแล้วนำมาวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงเนื้อหา วิเคราะห์เชิงตรรกวิทยา และการวิเคราะห์เปรียบเทียบเกี่ยวกับการบังคับใช้กฎหมายไทยตามพันธกรณีภายใต้ความตกลงอาเซียนทางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม กลไกบังคับใช้กฎหมาย และกลไกระงับข้อพิพาทสิ่งแวดล้อมให้มีประสิทธิภาพและสัมฤทธิผลในบริบทของประเทศไทยและประชาคมอาเซียน รวมทั้งยังได้จัดการประชุมสัมมนาวิชาการเพื่อรับฟังความคิดเห็นและข้อเสนอแนะจากผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิและหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องเพื่อปรับปรุงสรุปผลการวิจัยและข้อเสนอแนะให้มีความถูกต้องและสมบูรณ์มากยิ่งขึ้น ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ประเทศไทยได้ดำเนินการปฏิบัติตามพันธกรณีภายใต้ความตกลงอาเซียนทางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมในระดับภูมิภาค และการปฏิบัติตามพันธกรณีภายใต้ความความร่วมมืออาเซียนทางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมและความตกลงสิ่งแวดล้อมพหุภาคี (MEAs) หากเกิดปัญหาข้อพิพาทสิ่งแวดล้อมตามพันธกรณีก็ยังมีกลไกบังคับใช้กฎหมายภายในของประเทศไทยและสมาชิกอาเซียนอื่น กฎหมายระหว่างประเทศ รวมทั้งกลไกระงับข้อพิพาททางสิ่งแวดล้อมตามพันธกรณีภายใต้ความตกลงอาเซียนทางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมทั้งในระดับภูมิภาคอาเซียน คือ กลไกระงับข้อพิพาทภายใต้กฎบัตรอาเซียน ค.ศ. 2008 และพิธีสารว่าด้วยกลไกระงับข้อพิพาทของอาเซียน ค.ศ. 2004 รวมทั้งกลไกระงับข้อพิพาทในระดับโลก เช่น กลไกระงับข้อพิพาทขององค์การการค้าโลก อนุญาโตตุลาการระหว่างประเทศ หรือ ศาลยุติธรรมระหว่างประเทศ

งานวิจัยนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อศึกษาการเมืองของขบวนการนักศึกษาในเวียดนามใต้ในยุคสงครามเย็น และชาตินิยมที่ซับซ้อนและลื่นไหลจากการเคลื่อนไหวทางการเมืองและสังคมของนักศึกษา งานวิจัยนี้ประกอบไปด้วย 3 ประเด็นหลักคือ พัฒนาการขบวนการนักศึกษาในเวียดนามใต้ การปลูกฝังและการจัดการศึกษาของรัฐบาลเวียดนามใต้กับความช่วยเหลือของสหรัฐอเมริกา ตลอดจนความหลากหลายของกลุ่มขบวนการนักศึกษาที่มีผูกโยงกับความเปลี่ยนแปลงทางการเมืองและสังคมนับตั้งแต่สาธารณรัฐเวียดนามถือกำเนิดขึ้น งานวิจัยนี้ใช้วิธีวิทยาทางประวัติศาสตร์โดยใช้หลักฐานชั้นต้นและชั้นรองจากฝั่งเวียดนามและอเมริกาได้แก่ หนังสือพิมพ์ วารสาร บทกวี บทเพลงและข้อเขียนของนักศึกษาเวียดนามใต้ ในส่วนที่เป็นหลักฐานฝั่งอเมริกา ได้แก่ หนังสือพิมพ์และจดหมายที่บันทึกการตอบโต้ระหว่างนักศึกษาเวียดนามใต้และกลุ่มนักศึกษาในสหรัฐอเมริกา ผลการศึกษาพบว่าการเคลื่อนไหวของขบวนการนักศึกษาแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ช่วง ได้แก่ ยุคสาธารณรัฐที่ 1 ภายใต้รัฐบาลโงดิ่งห์เสี่ยมและสาธารณรัฐที่ 2 ภายใต้เหงวียนวันเถี่ยว การเคลื่อนไหวของขบวนการนักศึกษามีความหลากหลายและซับซ้อนซึ่งไม่ได้เป็นไปเพื่อการต่อสู้เพื่ออุดมการณ์ทางการเมืองเป็นหลักขึ้นอยู่กับบริบทของระดับปัญหาทางการเมืองภายในที่เวียดนามใต้อยู่ในสภาวะความโกลาหลทางการเมืองรวมทั้งสภาวะสงครามที่เพิ่มความรุนแรงมากขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ ปัจจัยเหล่านี้มีผลต่อรูปแบบการเคลื่อนไหวของขบวนการนักศึกษาและการออกมาตรการในการตอบโต้โดยรัฐ ขบวนการนักศึกษามีอยู่หลากหลายกลุ่มทั้งที่ทำงานร่วมกับรัฐและต่อต้านรัฐ การเติบโตของขบวนการนักศึกษาเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างมากภายใต้การเปิดเสรีเรื่องการศึกษาซึ่งได้รับความช่วยเหลือจากสหรัฐอเมริกา ทั้งนี้ชาตินิยมในหมู่นักศึกษาเวียดนามใต้มิใช่การจำกัดกรอบเพียงแค่การต่อต้านรัฐบาลและอเมริกา ทว่ายังหมายรวมถึงการพยายามสร้างชาติภายใต้สภาวะสงครามและต่อต้านรัฐบาลอำนาจนิยมด้วยการถกเถียงเรื่องการสร้างชาติ ความรักชาติ วัฒนธรรมแห่งชาติและต่างชาติ อย่างไรก็ตามหลังปี 1975 ขบวนการนักศึกษาเวียดนามไม่ได้มีบทบาททางการเมืองเช่นในยุคสงครามเย็น

การโอบรับเดธทิวิตี : ว่าด้วยการสำรวจภูมิทัศน์ความตาย ผ่านกิจกรรมในบริบทกรุงเทพร่วมสมัย, วรากร วิมุตติไชย, ภาวิกา ศรีรัตนบัลล์

แม้ว่าคุณลักษณะหนึ่งของสังคมสมัยใหม่ คือ การเป็นสังคมปฏิเสธความตายที่การแพทย์และสถาบันทางศาสนาเข้ามามีอำนาจเหนือการตัดสินใจต่อความตายของปัจเจก ในบทความนี้ ผู้เขียนจะใช้แนวคิดของ Tony Walter ที่มองว่าแต่ละสังคมมีวิถีความตาย (Deathway) เฉพาะของตนที่เป็นผลมาจากปัจจัยและประวัติศาสตร์เชิงพื้นที่การศึกษาวิถีความตายของแต่ละท้องถิ่นจึงมีความสำคัญ ผู้เขียนสำรวจปรากฏารณ์การโอบรับกิจกรรมเรื่องตายในบริบทของสังคมเมืองสมัยใหม่ เช่น งานเทศกาลความตาย การจัดแสดงประติมากรรมเรื่องตาย และ คาเฟ่เรื่องตาย เป็นต้น เพื่อชี้ให้เห็นถึงนัยสำคัญของการโอบรับ “มรณิจกรรม” หรือ เดธทิวิตี (Deathivity) ของคนเมืองที่จะเปลี่ยนภูมิทัศน์ของความตายด้วยการประกอบสร้างความหมายใหม่ผ่านตัวแสดง คือ เทคโนโลยีดิจิทัล การทำให้เป็นสาธารณะ และการทำความตายให้เป็นกิจกรรมมากขึ้น ท้ายที่สุดแล้ว ผู้เขียนจะชี้ให้เห็นถึงรูปแบบการมีปฏิสัมพันธ์ต่อความตายสมัยใหม่ (modern death) ซึ่งเป็นการจัดประกอบหรือเรียนรู้ความตายด้วยประสบการณ์ของปัจเจก ซึ่งอีกนัยหนึ่งคือการพยายามค้นหาความหมายและคุณค่าของการมีชีวิตทำให้การโอบรับอาสัญทนาการที่ปรากฏให้เห็นกลายเป็นพื้นที่ของการเรียนรู้เพื่อเปลี่ยนแปลง (transformative space) หนึ่ง คือ พื้นที่ของการเติบโตภายใน และ สอง คือพื้นที่ของการเปลี่ยนผ่านภูมิทัศน์ความตายสู่กลไกของการกล่อมเกลา ถกเถียงและตั้งคำถามเรื่องตายที่สอดรับกับความเป็นสมัยใหม่มากยิ่งขึ้น ท้ายที่สุดแล้ว ผู้เขียนยังมองว่าแม้ภูมิทัศน์ความตายจะมีตัวแสดงใหม่เข้ามา แต่รากฐานที่ทำให้สังคมไทยไม่ได้เป็นสังคมปฏิเสธความตายอย่างสิ้นเชิง คือสองรากของความเปิดกว้างและการมีส่วนร่วม ที่ทำให้เดธทิวิตีกลายเป็นหนึ่งในกระบวนการเรียนรู้เรื่องตายของสังคมสมัยใหม่

บทความนี้เป็นการสำรวจแนวความคิดที่อธิบายปรากฎการณ์ระบอบการเมืองโลกหลัง “คลื่นลูกที่สามของประชาธิปไตย” ซึ่งพบว่าประเทศจำนวนมากไม่ได้เป็นไปตามกระบวนทัศน์การเปลี่ยนผ่านไปสู่ประชาธิปไตย  แต่ตกอยู่ภายใต้ระบอบการเมืองที่เรียกว่า “อำนาจนิยมที่มีการเลือกตั้ง (Electoral Authoritarianism)” ที่เป็นการปกครองแบบอำนาจนิยมแต่ยังคงมีการเลือกตั้งแบบหลายพรรคและสถาบันการเมืองแบบประชาธิปไตยไว้ นอกจากนั้นยังพยายามอภิปรายถึงบทบาทของการเลือกตั้ง ที่โดยทั่วไปแล้วจะเป็นเครื่องมือในระบอบประชาธิปไตยหรือเป็นกลไกสำคัญในการทำให้เป็นประชาธิปไตย ได้กลายเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการปกครองแบบอำนาจนิยม เพื่อสร้างความชอบธรรมและการยอมรับจากประชาคมทั้งในและนอกประเทศ และสุดท้าย สำรวจวิธีการควบคุมบงการการเลือกตั้งและสถาบันการเมืองเพื่อรักษาอำนาจของผู้ครองครองแบบอำนาจนิยมไว้ต่อไป

บทสำรวจชีวิตของคนจนเมืองหลุดระบบ : กรณีศึกษาคนจนเช่าบ้าน/ห้องในเขตกรุงเทพมหานคร, พิชญ์ พงษ์สวัสดิ์

บทความนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของโครงการวิจัย “บทสำรวจเบื้องต้นชีวิตของคนจนเมืองหลุดระบบ:กรณีศึกษา คนจนเช่าบ้าน/เช่าห้องในเขตกรุงเทพมหานคร”ซึ่งได้รับการสนับสนุนจากสำนักสนับสนุนสุขภาวะประชากรกลุ่ม เฉพาะสำนักงานกองทุนสนับสนุนการสร้างเสริมสุขภาพ (สสส.) โครงการวิจัยชิ้นนี้เป็นงานวิจัยช่วงที่สอง ที่สืบ เนื่องมาจากงานวิจัย “การทบทวนสถานการณ์ปัญหาของคนจนเมืองหลุดระบบในประเทศไทย” ที่ได้รับการสนับสนุนจากหน่วยงานเดียวกัน เป้าหมายหลักของการวิจัยคือ การสังเคราะห์ปัญหาของคนจน เมืองที่หลุดระบบการช่วยเหลือจากรัฐซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของคนจนเมืองทั้งหมด คนจนเมืองหลุดระบบ เป็นกลุ่มที่ไม่ได้ถูกสำรวจในฐานข้อมูลของรัฐ ไม่มีนโยบายภาครัฐเพื่อดูแลโดยตรงและขาดการ ศึกษาวิจัยอย่างเป็นระบบ การระบาดของโรคโควิด-19 ยิ่งตอกย้ำให้มีสภาพความเป็นอยู่ของคนจน เมืองหลุดระบบให้แย่ลง การวิจัยครั้งนี้ใช้กรณีศึกษา และเก็บข้อมูลผ่านการสำรวจชีวิตกลุ่ม คนจนเช่าบ้าน/ห้องในพื้นที่กรุงเทพฯ โดยเน้นศึกษาคนจนเช่าบ้าน/ห้องราคาถูก ทั้งในและนอกชุมชนแออัด เพื่อเข้าใจระบบบ้าน/ห้องเช่าของคนจนเมือง และวิถีชีวิตของคนจนที่เช่าบ้าน/ห้อง การเก็บข้อมูล ดำเนินการผ่านการทบทวนวรรณกรรม ทบทวนเอกสาร และสัมภาษณ์ภาครัฐ ภาคประชาสังคม ผู้เช่าบ้าน และผู้ให้เช่า งานวิจัยค้นพบว่า กลุ่มคนจนเช่าบ้าน/เช่าห้องมีลักษณะขาดความมั่นคงในที่อยู่อาศัย ขาดนโยบาย และหน่วยงานดูแลโดยตรง งานวิจัยมีข้อเสนอว่า ภาครัฐควรกำหนดนโยบายด้านบ้านเช่าห้องเช่าและ ตั้งกระทรวงที่กำหนดนโยบายที่ครอบคลุมด้านที่อยู่อาศัยโดยตรง ทั้งควรขยายอำนาจการดูแลบ้าน/ห้องเช่า ให้รัฐบาลท้องถิ่น

การประเมินผลระบบอภิบาลระบบสุขภาพปฐมภูมิของโรงพยาบาลส่งเสริมสุขภาพตำบลที่ได้รับการถ่ายโอนไปสู่องค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัด ปีงบประมาณ 2566, อุดม ทุมโฆสิต, จันทรานุช มหากาญจนะ, อลงกต สารกาล, สุพัฒน์จิตร ลาดบัวขาว, กรณ์ หุวะนันทน์

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อประเมินผลการอภิบาลระบบสุขภาพปฐมภูมิของโรงพยาบาลส่งเสริมสุขภาพตำบลที่ได้รับการถ่ายโอนไปสู่องค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัดในปีงบประมาณ 2566 ผลแห่งการทบทวนวรรณกรรมทำให้เกิดกรอบแนวคิดการวิจัยโดยการผสมผสานตัวแบบอภิบาลขององค์การอนามัยโลกกับตัวแบบระบบสุขภาพปฐมภูมิของไทยประกอบกัน ในด้านระเบียบวิธีวิจัย คณะวิจัยได้เลือกใช้วิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพแบบสำรวจและอธิบายเรื่องราวที่เกิดขึ้น (Exploratory with Descriptive Case Study) ผลการวิจัยพบว่า การอภิบาลระบบสุขภาพปฐมภูมิของไทยยังอยู่ในฐานะเริ่มต้น กลไกต่าง ๆ ยังมีลักษณะเป็นเพียงรูปแบบมากกว่าแก่นแท้ที่เป็นสาระสำคัญ ซึ่งมีความจำเป็นต้องปรับปรุงให้ดีขึ้นทั้งในระดับพื้นที่ ระดับจังหวัด และระดับชาติ

ความชุก ลักษณะทางประชากรและทางคลินิกของเหตุการณ์สังหารหมู่และกราดยิงในประเทศไทย ระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2537-2566 และข้อเสนอแนะจากการวิเคราะห์ทางจิตเวชศาสตร์, พร ทิสยากร, ธันวัน เจริญไชยเนาว์, เหมือนเพชร ราชายนต์, วิชยุตม์ เพศยนาวิน, พิมพ์ประพันธ์ อุไรกุล

เหตุการณ์สังหารหมู่และกราดยิงที่เกิดขึ้นในประเทศไทยสร้างความสูญเสีย ส่งผลกระทบต่อสังคมอย่างมาก งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสร้างฐานข้อมูลของการเกิดเหตุการณ์สังหารหมู่และกราดยิงในประเทศไทย วิเคราะห์ปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง และเสนอแนะข้อคิดเห็นจากมุมมองทางจิตเวชศาสตร์ ผู้วิจัยทำการศึกษาเชิงพรรณนาแบบย้อนหลังโดยรวบรวมเหตุการณ์สังหารหมู่และกราดยิงในประเทศไทยระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2537 - 2566 โดยใช้คำจำกัดความทางวิชาการสากล แล้วเก็บข้อมูลลักษณะทางประชากรและทางคลินิก รวมถึงปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับเหตุการณ์ ผู้ก่อเหตุและเหยื่อ ผลการวิจัยพบมีเหตุการณ์สังหารหมู่และกราดยิงเกิดขึ้นรวม 78 ครั้งใน 30 ปีที่ผ่านมา โดยเป็นเหตุการณ์สังหารหมู่ 65 ครั้ง และเหตุการณ์กราดยิง 49 ครั้ง ผู้ก่อเหตุสังหารหมู่ส่วนใหญ่เป็นเพศชาย (89.23%) ใช้อาวุธปืนก่อเหตุ (66.16%) มีประวัติการใช้สารเสพติด (27.69%) มีประวัติการฝึกใช้ปืน (20%) มีประวัติโรคทางจิตเวชที่มีความเสี่ยงสูงต่อการก่อความรุนแรง (7.7%) มีผู้เสียชีวิต 348 รายจากเหตุการณ์รวมทั้งหมด โดยสรุปคือเหตุการณ์สังหารหมู่และกราดยิงในประเทศไทยเกิดขึ้นเป็นประจำและมีแนวโน้มเพิ่มมากขึ้น ปัจจัยสำคัญของเหตุการณ์สังหารหมู่ในประเทศไทยคือการเข้าถึงและฝึกใช้อาวุธปืน ปัญหายาเสพติด ส่วนประวัติโรคทางจิตเวชพบไม่มาก การสร้างฐานข้อมูลและศึกษาเหตุการณ์เหล่านี้ทางวิชาการต่อไป อาจนำไปสู่แนวทางป้องกันที่ดียิ่งขึ้นในอนาคต

บทความวิจัยนี้มีเป้าหมายเพื่อสำรวจแนววิเคราะห์หลังสังคมนิยมหรือหลังคอมมิวนิสต์กับการอธิบายการเปลี่ยนผ่านทางการเมืองและเศรษฐกิจของประเทศอดีตสังคมนิยมและประเทศสังคมนิยม และการปรับตัวเพื่อการอยู่รอดของระบอบสังคมนิยมในประเทศสังคมนิยม ผ่านการศึกษาประเทศสังคมนิยมในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ได้แก่ สปป.ลาวและเวียดนาม ด้วยการทบทวนเอกสารและงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง ผลการศึกษาพบว่า หลังสังคมนิยม หรือ หลังคอมมิวนิสต์ เกิดขึ้นในยุคปลายสงครามเย็นที่หลายประเทศสังคมนิยมปฏิรูประบบเศรษฐกิจและพัฒนาประชาธิปไตย จนนำไปสู่การศึกษาการเปลี่ยนผ่านและการทำให้(ประชาธิปไตย)เข้มแข็ง ที่เชื่อเรื่องความเป็นสากล โดยนักรัฐศาสตร์การเมืองเปรียบเทียบ แต่แนวทางดังกล่าวกลับได้รับการโต้แย้งโดยนักวิชาการด้านอาณาบริเวณศึกษาที่เชื่อเรื่องความหลากหลายและการเปลี่ยนผ่านครั้งใหญ่ หลังจากนั้นการศึกษาหลังสังคมนิยมจึงมุ่งเน้นการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางเศรษฐกิจ การเมืองและสังคมที่เกิดขึ้นในประเทศอดีตสังคมนิยมและสังคมนิยมปัจจุบัน

การวิจัยเรื่อง “จากจอบสู่จาน: เชฟส์ เทเบิล การกินอย่างมีหลักการ และภูมิทัศน์อาหารไทย” มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ (1) ศึกษาการกินอย่างมีหลักการและรูปแบบภูมิทัศน์อาหารไทย (2) ศึกษาแนวทางการเพิ่มมูลค่าทางเศรษฐกิจการกินอย่างมีหลักการ และ (3) เพื่อนำเสนอแนวทางการพัฒนาการกินอย่างมีหลักการสู่การเพิ่มมูลค่าทางเศรษฐกิจ กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ เชฟที่มีชื่อเสียง ซึ่งเป็นเจ้าของร้านอาหารที่ให้บริการประเภทเชฟส์ เทเบิล และหรือเป็นผู้ที่มีการนำหลักเรื่องการกินอย่างมีหลักการมาใช้เป็นแนวทางปฏิบัติ จำนวน 5 คน วิธีการวิจัยใช้การสังเกตการณ์แบบมีส่วนร่วม และการสัมภาษณ์กลุ่มบุคคลสำคัญ  ผลการวิจัย พบว่า (1) จริยธรรมด้านอาหารเป็นเรื่องเกี่ยวกับการเลือกที่เราเชื่อว่าดีและถูกต้องเกี่ยวกับอาหารที่เรากิน เชฟและผู้ร่วมงานสร้างสรรค์เมนูบนพื้นฐานของการคิดถึงห่วงโซ่อุปทานของระบบอาหารยั่งยืนที่สัมพันธ์ไปกับท้องถิ่น วัฒนธรรมและฤดูกาล (2) เมนูสร้างสรรค์ สัมพันธ์กับเรื่องราวของเชฟ ที่มาของวัตถุดิบ วิธีการปรุง วิธีปฏิบัติการเสิร์ฟอาหารและการจับคู่กับเครื่องดื่ม เป็นแนวทางการเพิ่มมูลค่าทางเศรษฐกิจการกินอย่างมีหลักการภายใต้ระบบเศรษฐกิจสร้างสรรค์ที่สามารถสร้างรายได้ให้กับธุรกิจอาหารและวิสาหกิจรายย่อย ควบคู่ไปกับการเชิดชูคุณค่าของวัฒนธรรมอาหารท้องถิ่น (3) การใช้ภูมิทัศน์อาหาร รวมถึงยกระดับอาหารท้องถิ่นมาสู่เมนูสร้างสรรค์ในร้าน เป็นแนวทางการพัฒนาการกินอย่างมีหลักการที่สามารถสร้างงานในชุมชนท้องถิ่นผ่านการผลิต/จัดหาวัตถุดิบ/แรงงานจากละแวกท้องถิ่น การศึกษาเน้นย้ำว่า การกินอย่างมีหลักการไม่เพียงแต่เป็นปฏิบัติการทางอาหารเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นตัวเร่งการเติบโตทางเศรษฐกิจและการพัฒนาชุมชนภายในภูมิทัศน์อาหารไทย และยังแสดงให้เห็นว่า สามารถทำหน้าที่เป็นกรอบในการศึกษาวัฒนธรรมอาหารร่วมสมัยในมิติทางสังคมวิทยาและมานุษยวิทยาต่อไปได้อีกด้วย

บทความนี้ศึกษาขบวนการเอกราช Catalonia โดยศึกษาเรื่อง ความเป็นมาทางประวัติศาสตร์ ความรุนแรงในช่วงต่างๆของการเคลื่อนไหว ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการเคลื่อนไหวเพื่อเอกราชกับรัฐธรรมนูญ เหตุผลของประชาชนที่สนับสนุนเอกราช และสถานการณ์ปัจจุบัน ความสำคัญพิเศษของขบวนการเอกราช Catalonia เพราะ Catalonia อยู่ในประเทศสเปนซึ่งมีลักษณะคล้ายประเทศไทยหลายอย่าง (เป็นประเทศประชาธิปไตยใหม่-ประมาณ 50 ปี / ปกครองระบอบประชาธิปไตยอันมีพระมหากษัตริย์เป็นประมุข / มีมาตราห้ามแบ่งแยกดินแดนในรัฐธรรมนูญ)  ปัจจุบันรัฐบาลสเปนใช้กฎหมายเพื่อห้ามการทำประชามติเกี่ยวกับเอกราข และจับผู้นำขบวนไปขังโดยตั้งข้อหากบฏเพราะทำขัดกับรัฐธรรมนูญ ขบวนการเอกราชจึงมีความเห็นว่าต้องตั้งคำถามเกี่ยวกับรัฐธรรมนูญเอง คำถามที่ถามไปยังศาลรัฐธรรมนูญคือ ในเมื่อรัฐธรรมนูญกล่าวในมาตรา 1 ว่าประเทศสเปนปกครองด้วยระบอบประชาธิปไตย ดังนั้นการจัดประชามติเรื่องเอกราชโดยอิงสิทธิในการกำหนดชะตากรรมตนเอง (ซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของหลักการประชาธิปไตย) จะขัดกับรัฐธรรมนูญได้อย่างไร ส่วนประเด็นของการที่มาตรา 2 กล่าวว่าประเทศสเปนเป็นรัฐเดี่ยวไม่สามารถแบ่งแยก ก็แสดงว่ามาตราในรัฐธรรมนูญขัดกันเองและต้องแก้ที่จุดนี้  สิ่งที่ค้นพบจากการศึกษาการต่อสู้เพื่อเอกราชใน Catalonia คือ เมื่อขบวนการเอกราชมีที่ยืนในพื้นที่การเมืองและมีการถกกันเองภายในอย่างเปิดเผยเรื่องจะเอาเอกราชหรือไม่กลุ่มใช้ความรุนแรงผลักดันเอกราชก็ค่อยๆสลายไป ความรุนแรงที่เหลือคือการแสดงอารมณ์แรงในการถกเถียงกัน

This dissertation consists of three essays that explore different dimensions of financial dynamics in the public and nonprofit sectors. Each chapter examines how the fiscal behavior of neighboring jurisdictions, policy interventions, and financial practices influence fiscal decision-making and financial performance within these entities.

In the first essay, I investigate yardstick competition in local government spending in South Korea by leveraging the exogenous variation introduced by by-elections. This approach allows me to estimate the influence of neighboring jurisdictions on local expenditures. The American historian Richard Hofstadter intended his still-influential essay on the “Paranoid Style in American Politics,” which initiated the modern study of conspiracy theories, as a response to the mid-1950s rise of right-wing populism in the US. Reflecting on the lessons we can learn from the insights and weaknesses of Hofstadter’s timely intervention into contemporary politics, as well as the author’s three decades studying conspiracy theories, the chapter asks how current academic work, which takes place within and responds to another rise in rightwing populism, should understand and intervene in the present and prepare for the future.

Attitudes towards immigration have been shown to be driven by dehumanization and disgust. The more people dehumanize immigrants and the more disgusted they feel, the more negative attitudes they tend to have toward immigrants. However, little is known about how exposure to social media content that links dehumanization, disgust, and immigration influences users’ attitudes on this issue. This is important to consider because the majority of adults in the United States are on social media. This project develops a praxis towards social change based on the works of Michel Foucault. It first establishes Foucault’s philosophical assumptions, methods, and political goal of countering “objectivizing” modern Western social forces. It then draws on sources from the three major phases of Foucault’s career to trace his development of a general conceptualization of experience as relational, or as non-exhaustively co-constituted by and through three indispensable kinds of social forces: knowledge, power, and ethics. Most people who perform a heroic act will, afterward, deny that their actions were heroic and claim that anyone would have done the same, even though that is demonstrably false (and, often, others were present who failed to act heroically at all). The literature on the psychology of heroism has never investigated why this is. This theoretical paper proposes an answer and seeks to provoke exploration of a previously unexplored topic. Based on Sergio Aparicio's theory of "imported politics," this study examines the pre-migration experiences of Generation 1 and Generation 1.5 Bhutanese Refugees to analyze if a correlation exists between the pre-migration experiences and post-migration political alignment/attitudes. The theory was tested using ten interviewees, five of each generation, who were interviewed about their experiences in the origin and adopted country. This was followed by questions regarding government and politics used to evaluate their political attitudes. Results concluded that for all of Generation 1, the pre-migration experiences contributed in some aspects to how they viewed politics in the U.S. In contrast, the …

This project examines how European leaders of autocratic and democratic nations engage with masculinity discourses in their public speeches. Do authoritarian leaders use masculinity in a different way than democratic leaders? I answer this question by completing a critical discourse analysis of speeches from Vladimir Putin, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Boris Johnson, and Emmanuel Macron, the leaders of Russia, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and France, respectively. The speeches were publicized from July 2019 to September 2022, when all four leaders were simultaneously in office. A response to recent cultural trends of radicalization, extremism, and violence in American society, this dissertation, a novel rendered in ephemeral fragments of oral histories, interrogates the romanticist postures that compel a community of musical artists, the so-called “Folk Revival Revival,” toward infamy and tragedy.
