The present research is a genre analysis of hotel websites, targeting the main three aspects; the move structure, communicative purposes, and linguistic features on the 23 five-star and four-star hotel homepages in Iran. Bhatia’s (1993) model is used to investigate the communicative purposes of the digital genre, Suen (2013) framework which is a comprehensive model was adapted to examine the rhetorical move structure, and a combination of Bhatia’s (1993) and Cook’s (2001) model was used to analyze the common linguistic features. This issue is important for the fields of applied linguistics and teacher education because it sheds light on teacher-scholars’ identity realizations. The role of morphology in bilingual lexical access is an under-investigated topic. Due to the overrepresentation of concatenative-based languages which inherently cannot adequately isolate effects of morphology from those of orthography and semantics, morphological processing had been relegated to a secondary role in lexical access. The present research utilized Arabic, a non-concatenative Semitic language, to investigate the role of morphology in bilingual language processing. There are two objectives of this study: i) to find out the translation strategies used in subtitling humour into English subtitles, and ii) to analyse whether the humour in the films is effectively translated into English subtitles. In this paper, I investigate the relationship between the verbal complexity of annual earnings announcement conference calls and the Post-Earnings Announcement Drift. I determine the degree of linguistic complexity in conference calls of large public companies in the S&P 500 using the Fog Index from computational linguistics. Consistent with my hypotheses, I find that both the timeliness and magnitude of the market’s reaction to qualitative information in annual conference calls exhibit evidence of a price drift. This research may be relevant to analysts, investors, managers, and regulators that wish to standardize how information within earnings conference calls is presented.

This paper concerns the acquisition process of a specific part of English grammar by native speakers of Albanian. The focus is the English present perfect, and the similarities and differences that it bears to the Albanian Compound Perfective. The two constructions are made from similar parts, but they crucially differ in the aspectual nature of their participles. While the Albanian particle is perfective, the English is underspecified. This study investigates the attitudes and motivational orientations of heritage learners of Japanese. Twenty-seven students enrolled in Japanese classes in colleges and universities in the Philadelphia area participated in this study. Participants fell into two categories: heritage learners (N=6) and foreign language learners (N=21). Data was collected through an online questionnaire consisting of both quantitative and qualitative sections. Descriptive statistics were used to determine participants’ attitudes toward Japanese language, people, and culture and primary motivational orientations toward learning Japanese.
