Bibliometric Analysis Of Academic Papers Citing Dunleavy Et Al.’S (2006) “New Public Management Is Dead—Long Live Digital-Era Governance”: Identifying Research Clusters And Future Research Agendas, Beomgeun Cho

Research Collection School of Social Sciences

I trace the bibliometric evolution of “New Public Management Is Dead” by Dunleavy et al. to investigate how the seminal paper influenced the administrative reform debate. They suggested Digital-Era Governance as the main post-NPM idea. My bibliometric analysis discovers public value, administrative reform trajectories, and digital government as influential themes. Unlike Dunleavy et al., the literature found the managerial reform wave is not linear, reform ideas are supplementary, and NPM remains a major toolkit. Future research should focus on reintegration and need-based holism, linking digital government to administrative reform, and the negative impact of digital government on democracy.

For example, a large collection of NASA’s earth science data has been made searchable and freely downloadable over the Internet. University libraries play a crucial role in providing access to various information resources that are essential for academic and research development. Apart from the regular collection and services, libraries also need to focus on providing resources for competitive exams, as they help students prepare for various competitive exams and enhance their employability skills. This study focused on a specific population of competitive exam aspirants who use the Yogi Vemana University Library competitive exam section. Purpose: The purpose of the present work was Altmetrics study of research outputs in the field of social and behavioral sciences in major Iranian universities during 2010-2020.

Methodology: The research outputs of the thematic domains of social and behavior of sciences major Iranian universities indexed in the Scopus database were reviewed. This applied research was conducted with a Altmetrics approach. Scopus and Altmetrics Explorer databases were used to collect data. Data analysis was performed using descriptive and inferential statistical tests in Excel software.

This study aims to understand the perceptions and opinions of academicians towards ChatGPT-3 by collecting and analyzing social media comments, and a survey was conducted with library and information science professionals. The research uses a content analysis method and finds that while ChatGPT-3 can be a valuable tool for research and writing, it is not 100% accurate and should be cross-checked. The study also finds that while some academicians may not accept ChatGPT-3, most are starting to accept it. The study is beneficial for academicians, content developers, and librarians.

Graduate students, as potential future full-time researchers, are a population that should show proficiency in data sharing. Though there are many resources that teach data sharing best practices for students, it is difficult to tell how well students do when sharing their data. We compared the FAIRness of non-traditional research output metadata associated with theses and dissertations for records shared in a generalist repository by individual students, and records shared through an institutional repository using the same repository platform. Through Google Scholar and other search engines, the content is accessed worldwide, yet the DC remains a little-known resource on campus. This fact motivated the director of the Forrer Learning Commons to seek input on how to more effectively increase submissions and the number of users.

This study examines 648 currently published law journals to determine the amount of freely available content and whether the journals have adopted open access behaviors. Although most of the journals have volumes available online for free, the usual hallmarks of open access, including open licenses and clear reuse policies, are absent.

The Ithaka S+R Library Survey has examined leadership and strategic perspectives in the field by surveying library deans and directors nationally on a triennial basis since 2010. The research project’s overarching goals are to provide the library community with a valuable data source to inform decision making and track the emerging opportunities and challenges leaders face in steering their organizations. In fall 2022, we surveyed library leaders at not-for-profit four-year academic institutions across the United States, with a response rate of 42 percent based on 612 responses.

We investigate the interplay between open access (OA), coauthorship, and international research collaboration. Although previous research has dealt with these factors separately, there is a knowledge gap in how these interact within a single data set. The data includes all Scopus-indexed journal articles published over 11 years (2009–2019) where at least one of the authors has an affiliation to a United Arab Emirates institution (30,400 articles in total). To assess the OA status of articles, we utilized Unpaywall data for articles with a digital object identifier, and manual web searches for articles without. This talk will consider the marginalization of scholars and other stakeholders in the Global South and how local publishing infrastructure is critical to recalibrating imbalances. The Latin American ethos and practice of bibliodiversity, or scholarly self-determination, is a precondition for the decolonialization of knowledge. Accordingly, predatory publishing is minimal in Latin America which has its own publishing infrastructures. Library publishing, which supports bibliodiversity, represents an important path towards much needed free to authors or diamond open access. Librarians play a critical role in educating editors and fostering publishing best practices.

Recent innovations in artificial intelligence (AI) are raising new questions about how copyright law principles such as authorship, infringement, and fair use will apply to content created or used by AI. So-called “generative AI” computer programs—such as Open AI’s DALL-E 2 and ChatGPT programs, Stability AI’s Stable Diffusion program, and Midjourney’s self-titled program—are able to generate new images, texts, and other content (or “outputs”) in response to a user’s textual prompts (or “inputs”).
