Are We Relying On The Wrong Data? Analysis Of E-Journal Usage Data At Seven R1 And R2 Research Universities, Simon Robins

Using data from seven R1 and R2 universities in Ohio, this study seeks to determine the extent of usage of full-text e-journal articles stored across multiple platforms. Specifically, COUNTER 5 data is presented from five major academic journal publishers (Taylor & Francis, SAGE, Oxford, Wiley, and Springer), looking at usage within each of the publishers’ respective platforms, as well as in EBSCO, JSTOR, and OhioLINK’s Electronic Journal Center platform. Demystifying Shibboleth: Adapting To Web Browser Privacy Changes, Simon Robins, Ben Daigle

University of Dayton Libraries added Shibboleth as an additional form of authentication for its licensed e-resources beginning in summer 2023. A major impetus for pursuing Shibboleth are the upcoming web browser changes that will obfuscate users’ IP addresses, set to occur in later 2023 and 2024 and something which will likely disrupt on-campus IP range access via EZproxy. Implementation of Shibboleth for an initial round of fifty-five e-resource platforms was relatively quick as a result of the University of Dayton’s participation in the InCommon Federation of U.S. higher education institutions, also known as an “authentication federation.” Methods for achieving the …

This study utilizes COUNTER 5 data from the University of Dayton (UD) to measure full-text retrievals of e-journal articles from five major academic journal publishers (Taylor & Francis, SAGE, Oxford, Wiley, and Springer). Usage data from these publishers’ e-journals within EBSCO is compared to the same content when accessed from publisher platforms such as Wiley Online Library or SpringerLINK. Building on previous studies that have largely focused on links (or referrals) from the library discovery layer to publisher platforms, this study analyzes usage of full text-articles stored within EBSCO Discovery Service and EBSCOhost subject databases to consider how these full-text …

In 2013, the Marian Library received the papers of the late John S. Stokes Jr., co-founder of Mary’s Gardens, a Philadelphia organization that taught and encouraged the planting of devotional gardens in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mother. Active in civil rights and social justice movements, he was the director of the Wellsprings Ecumenical Center in Philadelphia. He died in 2007.

Catholic academic libraries are the focus of this study for several reasons. Not only are Catholic academic libraries private institutions with varying budgets, but they hold special and unique collections of particular interest to a diverse group of constituents, including scholars, vowed religious, and laypersons. With these elements in mind, to what extent are Catholic academic libraries still using print promotional materials? This study aims to uncover trends concerning academic libraries' budgets, staffing, and production workflows with regard to promoting with print.

Review: 'American Cars, 1973‐1980: Every Model, Year By Year', Jack O'Gorman

This title, part of an ongoing series, chronicles American cars made between 1973 and 1980. Entries include background on the nameplate, models available, cost, and measurements of the vehicle. Photos of the cars are shown by manufacturer and year, and the advertising slogans used to sell the cars are a nice touch to open each entry.Appendixes include minor makes and "replicars" (a copy of a vintage or classic automobile), option groups and packages, tire sizes, identification and recalls, and manufacturer logos.
