While libraries no longer dream of having everything patrons might ever want or need, they can make an effort to get closer to those needs without going over budget. It doesn’t have to take loading additional records in the catalog or a team of librarians to find and select titles. This paper explores the process Eastern Kentucky University Libraries went through to create and develop a mediated demand driven acquisitions workflow starting with interlibrary loan requests and helped the collection become modern, diversified, and more responsive to current users and curriculum.

Digital scholarship (the use of digital technology in research or teaching applications) is a new and growing field but many Mississippi libraries, including the University of Mississippi, are not officially supporting digital scholarship. To change this, librarians at the University of Mississippi sent out an online survey to faculty, staff, postdocs, and graduate students in order to gauge their interest in and experience with digital scholarship methods and tools and how the library can best support digital scholarship on campus. Visibility, Promoting, And Marketing Of Electronic Reference Books In Academic Libraries, Viki Stoupenos, Christine E. Woods

Are electronic reference books visible in academic libraries? A survey administered to librarians at colleges and universities in the southern United States is used to ascertain the presence and promotion of electronic reference books in academic libraries. Findings reveal that electronic reference books are not as visible in academic libraries (both online and in library buildings) as traditional print reference is. Librarians surveyed indicate they promote electronic reference books more than print reference books. To gain an understanding of what needs more marketing, librarians should examine usage statistics. Librarians should employ a variety of ways to market and promote electronic …

Chapter 21 of this book, titled Let’s Say Yes: Considerations and Impact of Using Institutional Repositories to Promote Non-Traditional Works, was written by KSU authors, Chelsee Dickson and Heather Hankins.

Over the past two decades, institutional repositories (IRs) have become commonplace among academic libraries. The Greenville County Library System (GCLS) is excited to introduce Teaching Totes, new interactive learning tools for families, teachers, caregivers, and homeschooling families.

Teaching Totes are portable plastic bins featuring themed Library System materials designed to create fun and interactive learning experiences for young children. By using themes connected to learning standards, the tote materials offer parents and teachers the opportunity to foster early learning skills necessary for the introduction of foundational concepts.
