Advancements in technology have impacted how people gather and obtain new information. This phe-nomenon is especially apparent among younger generations where there has been an increase in the number of students who are visual learners. To continue to best serve these students, librarians need to begin to adapt library instructional material, such as research guides, to also present information using visual multimedia resources. While adapting research guides to increasingly visual learners, the oppor-tunity exists to ensure that research guides follow a user-centered design. The unprecedented COVID-19 crisis has impacted many universities and academic libraries resulting in normal operations ceasing temporarily. Overall, academic libraries at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic immediately adjusted to the so-called new normal and accommodated disrupted work operations to operate successfully. This article discusses the procedures implemented, positive and negative reactions to these changes, and the challenges experienced at Alabama State University, Levi Watkins Learning Center, and other libraries. This article will also highlight implemented procedures carried out by other university libraries, including difficulties and successes that libraries experienced during peak periods of the COVID-19 pandemic. This research study focuses on the Library and Information Science (LIS) journals listed in UGC-CARE between June 2019 and July 2023, with the purpose of offering valuable insights to researchers and practitioners in the field. The study employs a comprehensive data collection methodology, involving systematic review from academic databases, journal publishers' websites, and UGC CARE's official records. The selected journals are categorized based on various aspects, including publishers, geographical distribution, frequency of publication, publication language, ISSN/E-ISSN, Article Processing Charges (APCs), Open Access status, citation styles, and the availability of Document Object Identifiers (DOIs) and Creative Commons Licences. University Libraries at Coastal Carolina University acknowledges the importance of open access as a doorway to equity, access, and inclusion. In spring 2023, the library voted on and approved an open-access statement that encourages librarians to publish their work openly and to support faculty by providing guidance, encouraging the use of the institutional repository, and helping to fund the cost of open access.

We launched an open-access awareness program to educate librarians and faculty about these initiatives. We developed classes and, in order to promote them, we produced our own informative and concise videos to help librarians and faculty understand …

Social media has continued to develop and change rapidly since its inception. In order to best meet the information needs of users and gather as much visibility as possible, new platforms have been created and older platforms have been updated to improve usage. Because of these changes, engagement with newer, yet highly popular social media platforms such as TikTok has not been studied as widely as more traditional platforms such as Facebook. Storyville: A Study Of Artifacts, Martha Quinn Fentress

Operating from 1897 to 1917, sixteen blocks from the French Quarter district of New Orleans, Louisiana, several buildings were created to establish a legal red light district known as “Storyville.” The area was named after its creator, Alderman Sidney Story, who enacted the applicable ordinances and helped to establish the district. The creation of Storyville was meant to bring regulation to the sex trade and organized crime. The creation of the sixteen blocks of the district was influenced by a diverse range of experiences, ranging from cheap "cribs," vibrant music halls, saloons, and lavish mansions filled with "top dollar" ladies. …

The National Gallery Of Art Library: A Collection Analysis Of An Art Library’S Digital Collection, Rose Pendleton

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the digital collection of the National Gallery of Art’s library with a focus on the diversity of topics, artists, and themes. This study could be a resource to librarians responsible for digital collections and art librarians that want to ensure that their digital collections are seen as diverse. Additionally, this study adds to the body of scholarly literature related to art libraries, digital collections, and diversity, and the research conducted could be used to further analyze other digital collections.

Children who read for pleasure, as well as for information, do so because they have first learned the simple mechanics of reading. Once the mechanics are in place, children seek out stories that are of interest to them. Reading engaging materials holds the interest of children. As readers encounter increasingly complex reading material, their comprehension and reading abilities increase. It is important that children's literature is not only entertaining, but also complex in age-appropriate ways (Juel, 1988).

The Role The Lgbtq+ Community Plays In Preserving Their Own History: The Rise Of Lgbtqia+ Grassroots Archives, Abigail Hollingsworth

This study conducted a collection analysis of five LGBTQ+ grassroots archives located in North America to exhibit how marginalized communities build and preserve their history on their own. By assessing the different collections for certain metrics and demographics such as the number of materials representing different aspects of the LGBTQ+ community, as well as the types of materials prioritized from t-shirts to posters and books, this study highlights the role these community archives play in the representation of marginalized histories. A Collection Analysis Of The Tana Hoban Papers In The De Grummond Children’S Literature Collection, Constance Martin

The de Grummond holdings of Tana Hoban’s work contain items she donated from 1982 to 1991 as well as copies of her books received from other donors. These materials include correspondence; biographical materials; her diaries; and some of her work as a commercial photographer, including photos and advertisements. There are also promotional items for her books and items related to a 1973 educational filmstrip series for which Hoban served on the creative development team (Brown, 2021; (“Tana Hoban Papers,” n.d.). Digital scholarship (the use of digital technology in research or teaching applications) is a new and growing field but many Mississippi libraries, including the University of Mississippi, are not officially supporting digital scholarship. To change this, librarians at the University of Mississippi sent out an online survey to faculty, staff, postdocs, and graduate students in order to gauge their interest in and experience with digital scholarship methods and tools and how the library can best support digital scholarship on campus.
