Do you have issues quantifying the success of your scholarly communication programs? Many CSUs not only struggle with how to properly fund and staff scholarly communication programs, but also how to show their value. Sacramento State and San Jose State received an IMLS National Forum grant in 2019 to determine how similar public institutions were assessing their scholarly communication programs. In our multi-phased grant project, we used the University of Central Florida’s Research Lifecycle (https://library.ucf.edu/about/departments/scholarly-communication/overview-research-lifecycle/ ) as a framing document for all the multi-faceted services that scholarly communication encompasses. This program presents the result of an IMLS-funded, mixed-methods study that investigated the scholarly communication programming and staffing priorities among M1 (Master's Colleges and Universities – Larger programs) libraries. Using a complex research life cycle to frame discussion, twenty librarians from M1 institutions participated in focus groups and provided structured information on their libraries' scholarly communication program, development, and staffing. Scholarly communication service and support among M1 institutions continue to grow and develop within the context of limited budgets and staffing. In 2015, The Claremont Colleges Library purchased a drone for its Emerging Technology Loan program. At the time, Federal Aviation Administration regulations were still in their infancy in regards to drone use in public and for teaching and research –lending wasn’t even a consideration. University and community outreach is an important part of library services, which fosters cohesiveness while involving adequate community support. This paper examines how outreach has become an important part of the library’s mission. Many outreach examples include the partnering of libraries with university departments, offices, and organizations. Other examples include university libraries partnering with community groups, museums, and non-profits. Currently outreach projects are carried out across all libraries, however, a greater emphasis is placed on the recent outreach accomplished at Southwestern Oklahoma State University Libraries.

In March 2015, Wilfrid Laurier University administration announced that WLU Press would be integrating with the Laurier Library. Media coverage of this announcement has been mixed, and is an indication of the ambivalent response to library-press collaborations or integrations, in both the university press and library communities. This article considers the WLU case at its current early stage of development, discussing this transformation not necessarily as “progress” but as one response to a rapidly shifting scholarly environment. The session looked at the intersection between the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and ways that Open Access (OA) efforts can be used to further those goals. In October, 2014, the University at Albany Libraries launched Scholars Archive (SA), the University’s Institutional Repository (IR). Our first year of trial and error generated mixed results and low participation by non-library faculty. In year two, we redeveloped our strategy to yield benefits beyond simply increasing repository content. Creating an Institutional Repository from scratch creates a multitude of both opportunities and pitfalls in establishment of workflow, content creation, outreach and marketing policies, and stakeholder support. Nova Southeastern University’s Digital Commons based repository, NSUWorks, completed its first year in February 2015. During this session, the triumphs and tribulations of the first year will be discussed, along with future plans in order to give attendees a glimpse into one particular IR experience. Lehman College’s Leonard Lief Library and Information Technology Division launched the Lehman Master’s Thesis Repository on its new Sharepoint portal in September 2011. The project team consisted of two librarians and three IT engineers. The presentation will outline the project’s development including rationale, the decision to host the repository on the Sharepoint portal, access issues, migration of data, custom programming, best practices and conclusions on the benefits of Library-IT collaboration.
