Everyone is familiar with ChatGPT. But can ChatGPT alone be used for information retrieval? In this Keynote speech, Aaron argues that ChatGPT or similar large language models alone is not sufficient for information retrieval. As databases such as Scopus, Dimensions announce new beta search tools that leverage generative AI, he provides a overview of how these tools that blend search with generative AI (large language models) work (using a technique known as Retrieval Augmented Generation or RAG) and explains the pros and cons of this new class of search tools.

This chapter discusses the perspectives and experiences of an academic librarian related to the challenging phenomenon of predatory publishing. Academic librarians have extensive scholarly communications knowledge and mitigate predatory publishing when they educate authors on journal and publisher selection as well as how to recognize and avoid predatory publishers. Unintentional predatory publishing is an outcome of deficits in scholarly information literacy—inadequate knowledge and critical thinking related to scholarship. This study established the relationship between marketing strategies and user appreciation of the services provided by Public Libraries. The findings revealed that there was a significant relationship between marketing strategies and user appreciation of the Public Library services. The use of social media, general reference service and the use of Library Website are marketing strategies that can be adopted by Public Library. This paper explores the process Eastern Kentucky University Libraries went through to create and develop a mediated demand driven acquisitions workflow starting with interlibrary loan requests and helped the collection become modern, diversified, and more responsive to current users and curriculum.

The unprecedented COVID-19 crisis has impacted many universities and academic libraries resulting in normal operations ceasing temporarily. Overall, academic libraries at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic immediately adjusted to the so-called new normal and accommodated disrupted work operations to operate successfully. This article discusses the procedures implemented, positive and negative reactions to these changes, and the challenges experienced at Alabama State University, Levi Watkins Learning Center, and other libraries. The study employs a comprehensive data collection methodology, involving systematic review from academic databases, journal publishers' websites, and UGC CARE's official records. In response to calls for greater equity and inclusion in scholarly publishing and in academia in general, many academic instruction librarians are looking to ways to promote inclusive citation practices. Inclusive citation essentially involves citing sources that reflect a greater diversity of voices and perspectives, while being aware of how power and social structures have traditionally influenced what voices are amplified and which are often overlooked. Information literacy is the ability of an individual to locate, evaluate, and use information. This study expresses the conscious information needs and information literacy skills amongst final year undergraduate students of three Universities in Nigeria; being the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Federal University Lokoja (FUL), and Baze University. A survey research design alongside a questionnaire for the instrument were utilised on a sample size of 307 final year undergraduate students from select faculties within the above-mentioned universities. University Libraries at Coastal Carolina University acknowledges the importance of open access as a doorway to equity, access, and inclusion. In spring 2023, the library voted on and approved an open-access statement that encourages librarians to publish their work openly and to support faculty by providing guidance, encouraging the use of the institutional repository, and helping to fund the cost of open access.

We launched an open-access awareness program to educate librarians and faculty about these initiatives. We developed classes and, in order to promote them, we produced our own informative and concise videos to help librarians and faculty understand …
