The literature review is a difficult aspect of research methods courses. The act of artfully weaving together content from an array of scholarly sources is a challenge to teach. This presentation introduces faculty members to literature review teaching strategies, including multiple pathways to better understand a topic's pertinent literature.

Workplace Information Literacy: Current State Of Research Published From South-Asia, Haleema Saadia, Muhammad Asif Naveed

This paper intended to provide and critical and analytical review of research on workplace information literacy published form South-Asia with a view to inform policy and practice. Library, Information Science and Technological Abstracts (LISTA) was searched to identify the key studies published in the proposed research area using multiple keywords. The search process resulted in 384 citations which was screened for duplication and relevance. As a result, 375 citations were excluded due to duplication and non-relevance. Only nine citations remained to deal with for review. The reference lists of these citations were also examined to identify more related citations which …

It is expected that the usage of LIS in research papers will continue to expand in the coming years. This expansion may be seen throughout a wide range of scientific disciplines as well. This study conducts a bibliometric analysis of 1,127 papers on the use of LIS research, which were published in 206 scientific publications and authored by 1,685 authors (245 single-authored documents and 1,440 multi-authored documents). This presentation introduces the U.K. Council of Design’s Double Diamond design framework as a metaphor for research and writing. Jennifer Johnson, Coordinator of Academic Writing, and Patricia Gimenez, Research and Instruction Librarian, both work with design students at the Savannah College of Art and Design, but see the tool as applicable to all disciplines. Together, they will introduce the theory behind the tool and discuss how it’s been used in the library instruction and workshops on literature reviews.

Social work practitioners must act every working day in the face of uncertainty. This uncertainty arises in part because knowledge is often difficult to locate or sometimes lacking regarding: the systems context the population being served; the particular client system; the set of problems the client system is experiencing; as well as the various interventions that could be selected. It seems reasonable to explore ways to reduce the experience of uncertainty, and narrow, if not eliminate, the knowledge gaps that arise in such situations.
