Conference attendance can play an important role in supporting the professional development of subject librarians by offering opportunities that allow librarians to learn about new services, strategies, and technologies while growing and maintaining professional networks. However, barriers such as accessibility challenges, budgetary and resource restrictions, difficulty measuring learning gains, and difficulty measuring the value of professional development when applied to the job can restrict opportunities for many librarians. Graduate Occupational Therapy Students: Communication And Research Preferences From Three University Libraries, Lisa A. Adriani, Daniel G. Kipnis, Ronda I. Kolbin, Daniel Verbit

Libraries Scholarship

Library liaisons from three universities distributed an anonymous survey to graduate occupational therapy students to gauge preferred methods of communication when conducting research. This article discusses three findings: whom the students prefer to turn to when seeking research assistance, which methods of communication students prefer, and how long students spend searching before asking for assistance. From 193 responses, the liaisons reasoned that students prefer consulting with their peers before seeking help from librarians or faculty or instructors and they prefer assistance face-to-face. Additionally, the majority are willing to research from 30 minutes to 1 hour before seeking research help.

Learning Objective Measures And Participant Comments From The Great Lakes Science Boot Camps For Librarians, 2015-2019, Bethany S. Mcgowan, Jennifer Hart, Karen Hum

5 of these 6 Excel files include Likert measures of participant responses to questions measuring the achievement of learning objectives for the Great Lakes Science Boot Camps for Librarians and Library School Students, from 2015-2019. Free-text comments are also included. 1 Excel file contains a coded dataset for free-text comments from 2015-2019, along with the results of a Principal Component Analysis.

Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between information culture components and knowledge creation among top Iranian researchers.

Methodology: The present study is based on an applied purpose and is done through a survey. The population of this study consists of Iranian researchers present in Clarivate Analytics citation database top 1%. Data gathering tools in this study included two questionnaires: Curry and Moore (2003) Cultural Information Components and Byounggu & Heeseok Knowledge Creation (2002). Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.889 for information culture questionnaire and 0.886 for knowledge creation questionnaire. Spss21 software was used for data …

The paper attempted to look at how school libraries in Nigeria can meet the information needs of special children battling with the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This kind of mental disorder affects about 10% of children worldwide, it is a situation whereby the child is over hyperactive, fidgety, cannot focus or accomplish a task in record time. Gregg L. Semenza, William G Kaelin, Jr, and Sir Peter J. Ratcliffe were awarded the 2019 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine on October 7, 2019. Their work led to the understanding of how cells recognize and adapt to varying oxygen levels. Hypoxia-inducible nuclear factors play an essential role in this mechanism by turning on other genes that work towards increasing oxygen levels in hypoxic environments. Other vital pieces of the machinery include von Hippel-Lindau proteins and prolyl hydroxylation. Charles William Sargent, PhD, AHIP, FMLA, director emeritus of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Library of the Health Sciences and 1981–1982 president and member of the 1972–1975 Board of Directors of the Medical Library Association (MLA), died on January 8, 2020, in San Antonio, Texas. Sargent’s career in librarianship included positions at research, special, and health sciences libraries, as well as an appointment as a library school faculty member. He was known for his mentoring, interest in clinical librarianship, and belief in the power of organizations.

CAIFL aims to enhance critical appraisal institute skills in health sciences. Many health sciences librarians. Provide evidence based medicine (EBM) training at their home institutions, mostly limited to teaching about asking and acquiring; with only a rudimentary coverage of critical appraisal of clinical information. The goal is to enhance the abilities of health sciences librarians to take EBM training to the next level; and to enhance confidence and comfort of librarians in the realm of critical appraisal.

Background: The Library serves students, staff and faculty of the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine and related Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Students face the daunting yet crucial tasks of preparing Personal Statements for residency, scholarship and other applications. Students and residents are also encouraged to seek publication opportunities. We recognized a need for proofreading and editing assistance, and one of our librarians had the background and experience to provide such a service.

Despite successful efforts to treat and manage diseases, public health officials have recently begun a campaign to refocus efforts toward initiatives to alleviate the pressures that are often referred to as social determinants of health. In eastern Kentucky, and in other geographical regions labeled as health professional shortage areas or medically underserved areas, issues stemming from social determinants are compounded with health care systems that are often lacking the human resources to meet basic medical needs. Measuring Research Performance Of The Oldest Medical School Of Pakistan, Shakil Ahmad

This study evaluates the research performance of King Edward Medical University, the oldest school of medical education in Pakistan. Bibliometric indicators are used to assess the research output. A comparison is made with peer universities running under the same government to know King Edward Medical University’s research standing at provincial and country level. The study observes the citation patterns of research publications. The study revealed that researchers in KEMU collaborate with local and international institutes. The highest collaboration is seen with the researchers in Mayo Hospital, Lahore. International research collaboration spans over seventy countries. Trend of publishing in open access …
