School Libraries Get "Graphic": An Analysis Of Graphic Novels In The School Library Collection, Rebecca Lacoste

Graphic novels have been recognized by many professionals, researchers, and educators as a major factor in increasing student engagement. The purpose of this research is to analyze a middle school library's statistical data before and after the addition of graphic novels into the library collection. The study also analyzes the growth of scholarly literature related to graphic novels and school libraries. The compilation of this research should provide insight to school librarians, teachers, administrators, and researchers on the value and successes associated with the inclusion of graphic novels in the school library collection.

Bibliometric Analysis Of Biotechnology Research In Nigeria, Oladimeji Oladosu, Oladimeji Abimbola, Odejobi Bolaji

The aim of this paper is to quantitatively analyze the volume and publication pattern of research in the field of biotechnology in Nigeria. A bibliometric analysis was carried out on documents related to biotechnology research in Nigeria published from 1988 – 2018 and indexed in SCOPUS database. The analysis results reveal an increase in biotechnology research in Nigeria since 1988, and the University of Ibadan is the most productive institution in terms of publications. The trend of biotechnology research in Nigeria portends growth in the future.

Critical Information Literacy And Collections: Developing Praxis For Public Libraries, Lesley Garrett

Public libraries play an active role in building equitable, democratic communities by promoting critical information literacy, most notably in their collections development. Critical Information Literacy builds on the standard information literacy definitions by adding an analysis of political, economic, social and corporate systems that “have power and influence over information production, dissemination, access, and consumption" (Gregory and Higgins, 2013). This project includes a zine created to introduce an adaptation of Paulo Freire's banking concept of education for libraries, as well as note the continued work needed to develop a praxis for critical public librarianship.

This study investigates the acceptance of digital library system (Digilib system) by students and librarians of the State Islamic University of North Sumatera (UIN Sumatera Utara) Medan. It highlights the system’s rate of acceptance from the perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PEOU), behavioural intention to use (IU), and actual system usage (AU). Furthermore, the study investigates the problems in using the system and the users’ strategy in coping with the problems. The purpose of this study was to see flow of information on the book carrier services, to identify effectiveness of work instructions for book carrier services and to identify information needs in the book carrier service unit. This article discusses the role of social media towards library and information science (LIS) students’ information behaviour in responding health issues. This is a quantitative study with survey method to collect the data. The survey was distributed to LIS students of Universitas Indonesia in March 2020. The result shows that social media affects students’ information behaviour. The finding also shows that almost all of the students could fulfil their information needs and could distinguish original information and hoaxes on social media, and students did not directly disseminate the information before reading the whole content of the information carefully. Negotiations connected with database renewals are sharply critical and ultimately impact renewal decisions. Today, academic libraries face an ever-consolidating marketplace, often accompanied by disruptive cost increases that toss sound reasoning aside. Instances of super-exponential cost increases transfigure once reasonable practices based on sound criteria to unsustainable subscriptions and inappropriate access models. Most troubling is that libraries have seldom been asked to participate in stakeholder discussions before these models and decisions were made. Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the barriers to using information technology in the education of librarian students of Tehran Iran Azad University. The purpose of this study is an applied descriptive survey. The statistical population of this study includes all students studying at Tehran Azad University. Based on Cochran's formula, 107 people were selected based on stratified random sampling criteria and the required information was collected through a researcher-made questionnaire with 27 items.

This presentation demonstrates the wide variety of publicly accessible U.S. Government national security information resources. It includes information on the U.S. constitutional foundations of national security policy, a recent annual defense spending bill, documents from the White House/National Security Council, Department of Defense, various military branches including professional military educational institutions, assorted U.S. intelligence agencies, congressional legislation, congressional committee reports on legislation, congressional committee hearings, and reports from congressional support agencies such as the Congressional Budget Office. It concludes by stressing the multiple benefits provided by having public access to these information resources.
