The Global Open Knowledgebase (GOKb) project is developing a repository of freely available data that describes electronic journals and books as they are offered in the academic publishing supply chain. Since the first partners release in May 2014, the project has taken major steps toward realizing its goals. This article will include a general project overview and update, followed by discussion of data collection, integration, and development initiatives that are already underway among the project partners. Readers will also learn about next steps for GOKb and opportunities for broader community involvement.

The most fun part of cataloging, authority control, is the identity management work performed to maintain consistent access points throughout a library's database. It is increasing in importance as metadata schemas and linked data applications evolve. University of Kentucky has developed multiple strategies for maintaining authority control and most recently, has undertaken NACO training! Our new experimental workflows post-training will be discussed.

Long-term monitoring and research projects are essential to understand ecological change and the effectiveness of management activities. An inherent characteristic of long-term projects is the need for consistent data collection over time, requiring rigorous attention to data management and quality assurance. Recent papers have provided broad recommendations for data management; however, practitioners need more detailed guidance and examples. We present general yet detailed guidance for the development of comprehensive, concise, and effective data management for monitoring projects. The Resource Description and Access (RDA) standard has been widely implemented in integrated library systems and its application with MARC has long been discussed, but its applicability in content and digital asset management systems and with non-MARC standards hasn't been much addressed. The national RDA non-MARC tests found that it is not easy to evaluate RDA "without an application available to aptly manage and display the data," however, to accommodate RDA in existing content and digital asset management systems still remains an issue. A few years ago, I began investigating best practices in cataloging assessment. I started with a review of related literature to gather citations on the topic. As this work progressed, I found that researchers describe assessment, or pieces of assessment, using many different terms including evaluation, quality, workflow, cost, and production. They also write specifically about cataloging or broadly about technical services; of which cataloging or metadata is a part.
