Inventory At Brooklyn College, 1998–1999: An Original Method, Judith Wild

This article discusses the development of an inventory project at Brooklyn College that entailed examining the collection and comparing it to the corresponding records in the online catalog. The procedure became necessary in large part due to problems resulting from the migration to a new, integrated cataloging system in 1987. We needed to deal with (a) books in the catalog that were not on the shelves, (b) books on the shelves that were not in the catalog, and (c) books that lacked circulation information (item records). Projek Latihan Ilmiah ini adalah ber.kenaan pembangunan sistem yang akan memaparkan senarai nama pengarang Melayu berpandukan peraturan-peraturan yang telah ditetapkan oleh Peraturan Pengkatalogan Anglo-American, Edisi Kedua (AACR2R). Sistem yang dikenali sebagai PENAMA (Pengkatalogan Nama Melayu) adalah khusus untuk penggunaan pengkatalog dan penyelidik yang ketika ini sedang menghadapi masalah dalam membuat pemilihan nama pengarang Melayu. Kajian dijalankan berdasarkan sumber-sumber rujukan dan sistem sedia ada. Hasil perbincangan diikuti analisis keperluan-keperluan sistem dan pendekatan metodologi yang sesuai telah diambil bagi mencapai objektif dan matlamat yang telah disasarkan mengikut skop yang ditetapkan.
