The McGovern Historical Center recently digitized and shared online more than 50 archival films, videos, and sound recordings, on the History of the Texas Medical Center.

The following programs: “The Texas Medical Center” (1972), “Visions” (1985), “Visions Fulfilled” (1990) and “The Power of a Dream” (1998) touted the advances in communications technologies in use throughout the TMC. Several newly digitized programs showed how audio, video, and network technologies have long been a part of the work of the TMC Library.

This study examined the usage of electronic information resources (EIRs) for improved nursing research and health-care delivery in Nigeria. A descriptive survey method was used for the study. The population consisted of 120 nursing and midwifery students and 5 healthcare providers at Grimmard School of Nursing and Midwifery, Anyigba, Kogi State of Nigeria totalling 125. Five (5) research questions guided the conduct of this study. Analysis and discussion of the study were based on major findings of the study. 2022 was a busy year for this online repository, with an additional 350+ works added, which include dissertations and theses and 2 additional peer-reviewed e-journals. Also, there are a number of exhibits available since November, with most materials from these exhibits contributed by The McGovern Historical Center.

Two latest additions to the exhibits are Houston’s Fight against Tuberculosis and Christmas Seals (1911-1980s) and Windows into McGovern Historical Center. Check it out!

Next time you come to the library, take a look at the exhibit cases by the Rare Books Room corridor. The two exhibit cases embedded in the walls of the corridor now feature highlights from the McGovern Historical Center (MHC) collections and brief overviews of major collecting areas.

The other half of the exhibit focuses on the MHC’s archival collections. Featuring archival materials in a variety of formats—photos, films, drawings, and more.
