Once More, With Feeling: A Case Study In Emotional Intelligence Testing Of Library Staff, Jennifer Wright

Emotional intelligence is key to employee success, yet many libraries do not consider EI in training. 46 library staff completed the Emotify test and a survey assessing their performance. Staff in leadership roles tended to score higher and rate their EI knowledge higher. Staff with lower scores tended to assess the test as not useful. More EI training is needed for nonsupervisory staff, and library administrations should encourage EI training for all staff.

It provides laconic profile of library and information services landscape of a local government area, and identifies chronic lack of funding and weak governance structures as two major snags to providing efficient library and information services in the local government area. Welcome to the presentation, “Documenting a Pandemic: COVID-19 Community History Project” at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

My name is Daardi Sizemore Mixon and I’m the University Archivist at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Literacy is closely related to libraries. Aspects of literacy existing in visions and missions become the main points and characteristics of a library. This study aimed to describe and explain aspects of literacy of libraries in top universities in Indonesia in terms of text and social context. It employed content analysis with descriptive qualitative approach. It also used critical discourse analysis model as proposed by van Dijk. This is the first study since the 1990’s that solicits information about fundraising activity from a broad representation of academic libraries in the United States. Survey questions were adapted from previous studies to identify how this practice has evolved over the last twenty-five years. Results provide insight into prevalent conditions including the investment made in fundraising, common giving opportunities, the level of involvement of academic partners and leaders and the most common constituency groups who give and volunteer. The poster includes the history of the program, which was piloted in 2016, and addresses some of the challenges and successes encountered along the way. Abak is among the areas designated as Local Government Area (LGA) which make up Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria. Libraries are an essential element of learning on university campuses. The content housed within libraries supports academic exploration and growth. Physically, libraries are designed to provide access to materials and spaces that facilitate learning. This report explored the impact of student library resource use on student persistence to the next term.

Students' library resource use was captured with EZ Proxy log-ins and library material check-outs. Students who had a record of using library resources were compared to similar students who did not have a record of library resource use. This article reviews scholarship of incorporating institutional objectives in academic courses and proposes a method to embed mission-critical competencies in a library instruction course. Few academic institutions focus their mission or core competencies on digital communication. LaGuardia Community College delineates three competencies in its mission: inquiry and problem solving, global learning, and integrative learning. Students exhibit command of these competencies in written, oral, or digital communication. The College defines the digital communication ability as successful collaboration and interaction using online tools, such as discussion boards, either to stage written exchange, or to capture video or oral discussions.
