This fall, I will teach my third semester of Advanced Legal Research at Cardozo School of Law. With the support of the library, I have learned a great deal about how to teach effectively over the past year. They gave me the opportunity to conduct a mock ALR class this summer, which helped me tremendously. In this post, I will describe my journey as a new adjunct professor.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate digital competence and self-efficacy in academic libraries in South-West region of Nigeria using the framework of Big Data adoption.

Design/methodology/approach: An open-ended follow-up survey (google form), utilising a qualitative methodology, was distributed among system librarians in six academic libraries in South-West Nigeria.

Findings: The present volume of literature has led to a variety of opinions from the perspective of librarians about what constitutes an appropriate definition of Big Data adoption. This short module introduces students to important concepts regarding the use of AI and academic integrity. Concepts covered include a brief overview of generative AI, whether or not their use is considered plagiarism, how to use generative AI tools responsibly, and potential use cases. The module ends with a quiz where students can apply concepts from the module to three scenarios.

This systematic review is based on academic work published between 2016 and 2022 at The Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations. The descriptors related to FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) are to be found in title, summary and/or keywords. The result shows that there are few academic studies on FAIR principles; the University of Porto and consequently Portugal are most intensive in FAIR data research. Dissertations and PhD theses are predominant; information and computer science is the field of study most correlated with FAIR.

Two recent trends in collection development include finding new ways to bring patron voices into collection development and developing strategies for increasing the diversity and representation within collections. Qualitative data analysis plays a crucial role in deriving meaningful insights from research data. However, conventional software tools like NVivo present challenges such as high costs and complexity (Dalkin, et al., 2021). This study advocates for integrating ChatGPT, an AI technology, into qualitative data analysis workflows to overcome these challenges. Focusing on the data management practices of Computer Vision professors, the study investigates how ChatGPT enhances human analysis by streamlining processes and uncovering hidden patterns within datasets. At present, informatization has become an important engine for high-quality economic and social development in China. Systematically reviewing the evolutionary features of informatization policies is an important reference for further optimizing policy layout. This study constructed an analytical framework for policy evolutionary features, covering four dimensions of policy quantity structure, policy issuing department, policy theme, and policy tool, from policy external attributes to policy content elements. Social network analysis, text mining methods, and content analysis were used to conduct quantitative analysis on the 703 central-level informatization policy documents since the 12th Five-Year Plan period. Fanbinding, or the practice of printing fanworks into books, creates a physical format of primarily digital content. My previous research found that a common motivation for fanbinders to participate in this craft was preservation of their personal access to beloved fanworks, which echoes broader trends of controlling media through local physical archives. This implies an understanding of the ephemeral nature of digital content and a subsequent fear of losing access to their favorite content without their intervention. Fanbinding creates a physical copy of a fanwork that cannot disappear due to platform/author takedowns or server failures, thereby establishing the fanbinders’ ownership …

This research seeks to explore the use of fanfiction-specific language (FSL) within the fanfiction community and whether fanfiction readers would find it useful if FSL was incorporated into library catalogues. The aims of the research are to investigate how fanfiction readers learn, use and interact with FSL and to explore if incorporating FSL into public library catalogues would encourage use. A mixed-methods approach was taken – participants were surveyed using a questionnaire and follow-up interviews, which were analysed using descriptive statistics and coding following the constant comparative analysis process. In January 2019, I taught a condensed credit-bearing media literacy course for undergraduates based on the ACRL Frame, “Information Creation as Process”. My main learning objective was to teach students to recognize accurate information, misinformation, and disinformation in the news and on social media, not by naming them as such, but by: 1) exposing students to the process through which news goes from field observations to a published or broadcast story, and 2) exploring current social and cognitive psychology research on how humans evaluate whether to believe the information they consume. Within this integrative review, cognitive load theory (CLT) is asserted as a powerful framework for conceptualizing human cognitive processes within learning. The relationship between cognition and emotion is then examined and further integrated within the scope of CLT. Emotion regulation strategies are discussed and adaptive strategies are proposed as being of particular relevance to broadening the theoretical and practical impacts of CLT. Central to the argument of this review is the use of cognitive reappraisal as a potential mitigator of cognitive load. Market validation is essential for assessing the feasibility of a business idea, product, or service but can involve extensive and costly primary and secondary research. Business librarians are well-positioned to support entrepreneurs and researchers but may be constrained by pricey subscriptions for business resources. While most often associated with search engine marketing, keyword research proves to be beneficial for market validation. This paper proposes integrating keyword analysis into market validation practices. It outlines the process of conducting keyword analysis and opportunities for business librarians to incorporate these strategies in their resource guides and programming.

The author reviews the history of collection development of the vinyl collection at Huntingdon College. With interviews from current and former faculty and staff, the author shows how donations of vinyl al-bums helped propel the extensive quantity of albums. The author discusses how the collection circulated throughout the 1970s to the 1990s, when CDs arrived on the scene. The quick transition to digital streaming along with short staffing has caused these vinyl albums to sit, neglected in a classroom, un-used for decades.
