Organizational change is challenging. At the heart of this challenge is an attachment to the status quo. Both employees and managers tend to prefer the status quo because it is known and, unless shown otherwise, enables them to successfully accomplish their responsibilities. They often use tradition as a way to maintain the status quo. This case study provides an example of organizational change in the Brigham Young University (BYU) Library and discusses how tradition was used to both promote and resist change.

As has been discussed by many historians, the nineteen twenties were a complex period in Florida, marked by the promise of the great land boom and increased migration to the state, which was countered by the challenges of the land bust, two major hurricanes, and the subsequent depression. The career of Helen V. Stelle, who served as the director of the Tampa Public Library from 1917 to 1949 and helped to establish the Florida Library Association (FLA) in 1922, provides one example of how Florida libraries were affected by these …

Standards are integral to engineers’ information needs, yet their complexity and uniqueness poses an instruction and outreach challenge. This presentation details the redesign of a library guide on standards undertaken at the RIT Libraries. The focus of the redesign process was on effectively transmitting information on standards to the RIT community at the point of need, detailing what standards are available through library and other sources, how other standards can be requested and acquired, and how engineers and engineering students can work with standards.

Health science librarians frequently engage in discussions about the proper assignment of systematic reviews for graduate students. Such reviews are often assigned as a way to build the research skills students will need in a clinical environment and provide them with a publishable deliverable. In the assignment of these reviews, it has become apparent that health science faculty are often not familiar with the standardized methodologies required. This study focuses on the challenges and opportunities in digital collection management faced by librarians in Dental College libraries across Maharashtra. The study findings reveal that there are limitations in using e-resources and the ICT infrastructure in dental college libraries needs to be improved. The study investigated the effect of Internal trainings and job satisfaction of library staff in some selected university libraries in South-South, Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design using questionnaire as instrument for data collection. The population of the study consists of 89 library staff which was randomly picked. A total of 89 questionnaires were distributed only 78 were retrieved. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics mean and percentage mean score of 2.5 and above and percentage score of 50% were considered. Models used in geospatial data science are often built and optimized for a specific local context, such as a particular location at a point in time. However, upon publication, these models may be generalized beyond this context, reused in research simulating or predicting other times and places. Without sufficient information or documentation, bias embedded in these models can in turn result in bias in the reuser’s research outputs. Drawing on a long-term qualitative case study of aging dams researchers and developers of models used by these researchers, we find significant documentation gaps. The virtuosic complexity of Afro-Cuban orisha music has led scholars and artists to enshrine it as a “classical” tradition, and it has become one of most iconic and closely-studied sacred music traditions of the historical Afro-Atlantic. This essay traces the legacies of several analog-era multimedia technologies in orisha music traditions: reel-to-reel and cassette tapes; limited edition and out-of-print books and phonograph discs; ephemeral texts such as album liner notes; and photographic negatives, prints, and slides. The purpose of, this study is to examine how self-control predicts work performance of librarians in public universities in southwestern Nigeria.

The research design adopted for the study was descriptive research survey design of the correlational type. A multi-stage sampling technique was adopted to draw 229 respondents. Data analysis was conducted based on frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation, to answer the research questions Respondents of this study consisted of males (43.9%) and females (56.1%), majority (28.7%) aged 26-30.
