Using Zines In The Classroom And How To Make A Single Page Booklet Zine, Anne Hays Adkison
Open Educational Resources
This OER includes an introductory essay, "Some Thoughts on Teaching with Zines in the College Classroom," which discusses three ways one could use zines. 1. teach about zines, 2, create a zine to share information with your students, 3. ask your students to make a zine. At the end of the essay, there are screenshots of the pages of a mini-zine that teach the reader (that's you!) how to make a zine out of a single sheet of paper. Finally, the last page is a printable zine, which you can fold up and cut with your newfound skills, and hand …

Knowledge Management Practice And Use Of Information And Communication Technology: A Case Study Of Northwest University, Kano, Karimatu Isa Maisango Dr, Farida Sani Stores Dr
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Knowledge management has become a key factor for the success of all organizations. Information and communication technology (ICT) remains the only technology that facilitates information and knowledge sharing in any organization. Therefore, its use is prominent in any form of knowledge management initiative. The value of knowledge management is more when made available to the right people at the right time. Thus, knowledge sharing is facilitated through information and communication technology including computers, telephones, e-mail, databases, data mining systems, search engines, video conference and many more. The chapter investigates the practice of knowledge capture, sharing, storage and utilization among the …

So much of Libraries’ Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) work has been dually focused on increasing diversity while changing hearts and minds through training. Eventually, learning must lead to action and active commitment if inclusion, equity, and accessibility are to be integral parts of a library’s organizational culture as a PWI. By articulating how every role within the Libraries actively contributes to its IDEA commitment, leadership is making expectations clear for individuals and part of ongoing work. By building accountability for the IDEA work for all, including leaders, the libraries are ensuring that efforts are concrete, part of ongoing …

Librarian Advisors For Undeclared Students: Understanding The Advisee Experience, Claire Walker Wiley, Jenny Mills
Library Faculty Scholarship
Many institutional models exist for advising undeclared students, a group often requiring much guidance and support through the advising and discernment process. This research explored the experience of undeclared students with a librarian advisor. Fifteen students were interviewed after they declared a major to understand how they perceived their advising experience and their satisfaction with advising and their advisor. Overall, students reported feeling mostly satisfied with their librarian advisors. Most students would choose a librarian as their advisor again. Although interview data was largely positive, areas for improvement were identified.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic’s effect on higher education, the Clemson University Libraries’ Resource Sharing Team had the opportunity to scale up our practice of creating and sharing process documentation in order to maintain continuity of services regardless of various disruptions. In March 2020, Clemson University Libraries, like many other academic libraries, suspended onsite operations for a brief time period due to the spread of COVID-19 in order to determine how best to provide information services safely to all patrons regardless of location. Because of limited access to library and other campus buildings, library administration authorized only a few employees …

Do you want to move past marking that diversity checkbox and take your LGBTQIA+ collection development to the next level? As seen through the work of Diverse BookFinder, how historically underrepresented identities are portrayed in our collections is just as important as increasing the number of books depicting these identities. This presentation moves beyond asking if there is LGBTQIA+ representation in recently published picture books and instead explores the more complex questions of who is being represented, in what ways, to what extent, and why each type of narrative is important to children and their families. An Analysis Of Public Library Services To The Military Community, Rachel Brown
An Analysis Of Public Library Services To The Military Community, Rachel Brown
Honors Theses
The military community is an underserved population in many public libraries. Historically, military bases have had a dedicated military library on base, but in some cases budget cuts have led to their closure. The closure of military libraries provides an opportunity for public libraries to fill the gap and provide support to the military community. Despite not being equipped to handle many of the unique challenges that Service members and their families encounter, public libraries have been making great strides towards providing support to the military community as a whole. Current research focuses on how military lifestyle impacts psychosocial development, …

Exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in drinking water is widely recognized as a public health concern. Decision-makers who are responsible for managing PFAS drinking water risks lack the tools to acquire the information they need. In response to this need, we provide a detailed description of a Kentucky dataset that allows decision-makers to visualize potential hot-spot areas and evaluate drinking water systems that may be susceptible to PFAS contamination. The dataset includes information extracted from publicly available sources to create five different maps in ArcGIS Online and highlights potential sources of PFAS contamination in the environment in relation …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Reading is a basic learning tool for an individual that begins early and continues throughout life. It would appear that the world is digitally at one's fingertips, with everything connected to the internet with the increasing dominance of digital reading over paper reading. On the other hand, it is fair to assume that books will continue to be printed for a very long time despite the rise in e-book readers. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the actual trends in using printed books among university students. The study collected data from 233 undergraduate students from different Four (04) …

A Consortium-Based Solution For The National Institutional Libraries Working On Physical Disabilities Under The Ministry Of Social Justice And Empowerment, Govt. Of India, Sukanta Halder, Dr. Arabinda Maity
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
The paper aims to find out the present collection, services, and the main problems. The researcher deeply examined the four target libraries and described comparative analysis in different tables with various parameters. All target libraries provide similar types of user needs. Still, collaboration must be found within the target libraries, which is the researcher's main problem. Finally, the researcher prepared and proposed a centralized consortium model that can be very effective for the target libraries and may solve the problems.
