The McGovern Historical Center recently digitized and shared online more than 50 archival films, videos, and sound recordings, on the History of the Texas Medical Center.

The following programs: “The Texas Medical Center” (1972), “Visions” (1985), “Visions Fulfilled” (1990) and “The Power of a Dream” (1998) touted the advances in communications technologies in use throughout the TMC. Several newly digitized programs showed how audio, video, and network technologies have long been a part of the work of the TMC Library.

Abstract

The study focused on library services and users’ satisfaction in academic libraries in Imo State, Nigeria. The study examined the extent of users’ satisfaction with library services in academic libraries in Imo State, Nigeria, the relationship between library exhibition/display and user education services. Three research questions were posed and two hypotheses were formulated for the study. Correlational design was adopted for the study while 4-point likert rating scale was used to elicit data. This study investigated the provision of reference services and use of library information resources by undergraduates in universities in Bayelsa state, Nigeria. The study used a correlational survey research methodology, and the instrument for gathering data was a questionnaire. 17451 undergraduate students from the four universities in Bayelsa State made up the study's population, with a sample size of 349 representing 20% of the total population. 349 copies of the questionnaire were distributed and 346 were retrieved and found usable. Archivists use best practices, like More Product Less Process, and professional standards, like Describing Archives: A Content Standard, to create descriptions of archival collections that promote collection use and discoverability. However, most existing usability literature assessing online finding aids looks at navigability and ease of use, but does not examine increase in traffic and discoverability of those finding aids. University of Colorado Boulder Archives improved online finding aid descriptions on ArchivesSpace during 2020. The study investigated health information provision and utilization as predictors of safe health practices of nursing mothers in Imo State. This study investigated the strategies for curbing plagiarism by librarians in universities in the age of Information and Communication Technology in Nigeria. . The population comprised librarians in Universities in Nigeria. However, a total number of 15 Universities took part in the study and a random sampling technique was used to select 89 respondents. A self-constructed online questionnaire was designed and distributed to collect the data from the respondents. Nevertheless, 75 online questionnaires were valid and used for analysis. “I’M Not Searching The Right Words”: User Experience Searching Historic Clothing Collection Websites, Arden Kirkland, Monica Sklar, Clare Sauro, Leon Wiebers, Sara Idacavage, Julia Mun

This study investigates the search processes of users accessing public websites representing historic clothing collections, examining where their searches are supported by the metadata in the collection databases and what factors could make their experience more inclusive. With IRB approval from four universities, we performed a recorded experiment with twenty adults: ten students of historic dress and ten fashion professionals. Four tasks included search scenarios and images representing diverse historic garments. Results indicate that both the descriptive metadata and search features on collection websites present challenges for the typical user search process. At Minnesota State University, Mankato, we have developed a new approach to collections outreach utilizing interactive data visualization in Microsoft Power BI. The new tool, which we call the Collections PBI, empowers us to demonstrate very clearly and vividly the library's value to campus.
