Objective: We sought to identify trends and themes in how academic health sciences libraries in the United States, Canada and Mexico have supported engagement and outreach with Native Americans, Alaska Natives, First Nations, and Indigenous peoples, in or from those same countries. We also sought to learn and share effective practices for libraries engaging with these communities.

Methods: We conducted a scoping review utilizing Arksey and O’Malley’s framework for scoping reviews and followed principles from JBI Manual for Evidence Synthesis. In this paper, we carry out a research on determining students’ attributes and utilization of information resources in academic libraries in Imo State. The study focused on four (4) Universities in Imo State with a sample of one hundred and twenty (120) respondents. The sample was drawn using a simple random sampling technique through questionnaires. The academic library that failed to reskill members of its workforce might face consequences of automatic loss of patrons. Based on this, the study examined reskilling librarians as a panacea for bringing students back to the library. 191 academic and research librarians (ARL) on the telegram group platform as of February 14, 2023, formed the population. An Online questionnaire was prepared and sent to the ARLs’ on their group chat. 122 ARLs filled the questionnaire out of the 191 thus having a response rate of 63.9%. This study explored 141 Korean immigrant parents’ use of local libraries to enhance their families’ social and cultural capital and adjust to the host country. We searched resources in Korean, and multicultural programs planned for the public and immigrants, Asian immigrants in particular, at two libraries before and during COVID-19. Parents reported dissatisfaction with library services because of language barriers (38%) and the lack of Korean resources (38%) and cultural programs (25%). Except for 18 books and 24 e-resources, no library resources in Korean were published after 2008. Before COVID-19, one multicultural program was offered for children. At Branches B …

Minimally, a research data repository exists to make a collection of data assets available to potential users. If a dataset cannot be discovered and found, it cannot be reused (Garnett et al. 2017). Harvestable metadata catalogues are a key strategy for achieving greater global findability of data assets, as they create a surveyable access point to discover data products within large data collections. Journal articles are often made available prior to assignment to an issue, using labels like “early view,” “advanced online publication,” “ahead of print,” “online first,” or “in press.” While making articles available before an issue can speed up the scholarly communications cycle, a negative effect can be observed when full text is delivered through aggregator databases like EBSCO, ProQuest, or Gale products. This study assessed issue assignment delays across 18 journals which have full text aggregated in EBSCO's CINAHL Ultimate. Results show that articles published first in an early-view state are only available in the aggregator after they have been …

In this chapter, I will reflect on the challenges of naming my trans* identity in library spaces and facilitating discussions on gender identity as a genderqueer person. I examine the why, when and how I share my gender identity alongside my racial identity. My library instruction is influenced by my work as an intergroup dialogue facilitator and mediator. Intergroup dialogue pedagogy invites both the facilitators and participants to examine the ways in which their social identity development impacts how they see themselves and others. Critical library instruction draws from Freirean pedagogy in which students engage in dialogic learning. As such, librarians who strive to bring critical pedagogy into libraries must build their capacity to facilitate dialogue. Drawing from both intergroup dialogue pedagogy and multi-partial mediation, this chapter will outline tools for facilitating dialogue in library instruction. Intergroup dialogue is a scaffolded four stage model in which participants build community norms and communication skills, engage with social identity, apply communication skills to conversations about power, and strategize next steps for building solidarity. The authors discovered improvements in student performance when using SIFT and identified key strategies for its implementation to achieve best results.
