This study examined human resource development practices in academic libraries in non-university tertiary institutions in Imo State, Nigeria. Four research questions and four hypotheses guided the study. A descriptive survey design was used for the study. A census study technique was adopted to cover the entire population of one hundred and fifty-two (152) library staff in the four public tertiary institutions in Imo State. The study explored the use of Wikipedia as a source of information by the engineering students at Nellore dist in Andhra Pradesh. The study also tries to examine the reasons to prefer Wikipedia over the traditional encyclopaedia by the engineering students. The study adopted survey method and an online questionnaire for collecting the data from the respondents. After analysing the data the results revealed that ‘easy to understand’ was the reason to prefer Wikipedia to the traditional encyclopedia. Purpose: This article examines the self-efficacy and research output of librarians in polytechnic libraries in South-South Nigeria.

Design, methodology, and approach: This study adopted an ex-post facto research design and used a questionnaire to collect data from librarians in Polytechnic Libraries in South-South, Nigeria.

Findings: This study showed a moderate relationship between self-efficacy and the research output of librarians in polytechnic libraries in southern Nigeria. The study also revealed that self-efficacy will significantly predict research output among librarians in polytechnic libraries in southern Nigeria.

The population involved legal educators, law librarians and practitioners in four States in different geopolitical zones of Nigeria, namely Rivers State, Lagos State, Benue State, and Anambra State. Introduction. This multi-year, mixed-methods study compares (a) the reasons administrators and librarians of academic libraries invest in assistive technology for delivering information services to students with disabilities, with (b) the benefits that influence these students’ intention to use AT.

Method. In the first phase, 50 library administrators and 22 librarians from 186 public universities across the US shared their top-three reasons for investing in assistive technology through a qualitative survey. In the second phase, 322 students with disabilities from the same institutions completed a quantitative survey, in which respondents shared individual-level benefits that influence their intention to use assistive technology. …

Library and information science (LIS) graduates are expected to serve patrons from diverse backgrounds, including disabled patrons. While serving patrons with disabilities is a core value of librarianship, graduates often feel unprepared to serve disabled patrons, suggesting that programs inadequately train students to design accessible services. This study’s authors analyzed hundreds of course descriptions and 73 syllabi from 20 North American LIS programs to determine how often accessibility and disability topics are covered and how educators teach accessibility. Findings indicate that accessibility and disability topics are mostly covered in electives, meaning students may never develop accessibility competencies during their programs. …

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสำรวจหนังสือหายากในคอลเล็กชันหนังสือส่วนตัวของพระยาอนุมานราชธนภายในหอสมุดแห่งชาติด้านจำนวนตัวเล่ม ข้อมูลทางบรรณานุกรม ลักษณะทางกายภาพ และประวัติการครอบครอง รวมทั้งลักษณะสภาพการชำรุดวิธีการวิจัยเป็นการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจ ใช้วิธีวิจัย 2 วิธีในการเก็บข้อมูล ได้แก่ การสัมภาษณ์เบื้องต้น (Preliminary interview) เพื่อให้ทราบข้อมูลที่เกี่ยวข้องกับห้องสมุดอนุมานราชธนในช่วงเวลาที่ผ่านมา จากนั้นจึงดำเนินการสำรวจ ซึ่งผู้วิจัยแบ่งขั้นตอนการสำรวจออกเป็น 2 ครั้ง ได้แก่ การสำรวจเบื้องต้น (Pilot survey) และการสำรวจแบบเต็มรูปแบบ (Full survey) โดยใช้แบบฟอร์มการบันทึกข้อมูลเป็นเครื่องมือวิจัยในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับคอลเล็กชันหนังสือส่วนตัวของพระยาอนุมานราชธนผลการวิจัยพบว่า จำนวนตัวเล่มของหนังสือหายากในคอลเล็กชันหนังสือส่วนตัวของพระยาอนุมานราชธนมีจำนวน 1,226 เล่ม โดยมีจำนวนหนังสือที่ไม่เคยลงรายการบรรณานุกรมในฐานข้อมูลห้องสมุดอัตโนมัติ Aleph จำนวน 215 เล่ม มีลักษณะทางกายภาพส่วนมากไม่มีภาพประกอบหน้าปก และภาพประกอบในเล่มเป็นภาพชีวประวัติบุคคล จำนวนหน้าที่พบโดยส่วนมากคือ 100 หน้าขึ้นไป และขนาดหนังสือเมื่อวัดตามความยาวที่พบมากที่สุด คือ 23 เซนติเมตร ส่วนขนาดที่เหมาะสมของกระดาษไร้กรดต่อขนาดหนังสือ คือ A4 (23*29.2) ส่วนประวัติการครอบครองที่พบสามารถแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ประเภท คือ การแสดงความครอบครองโดยบุคคล และการแสดงความเป็นเจ้าของหรือกรรมสิทธิ์โดยห้องสมุด โดยลักษณะการแสดงความครอบครองโดยบุคคลที่พบมากที่สุดคือ หนังสือฉบับที่ผู้แต่งหรือเจ้าของเดิมลงชื่อกำกับไว้ และลักษณะการแสดงความเป็นเจ้าของหรือกรรมสิทธิ์โดยห้องสมุดที่พบมากที่สุด คือ การประทับตราที่หน้าหลังปกใน และเป็นลักษณะตราประทับแบบที่ต้องกรอกข้อความ สำหรับลักษณะการชำรุดที่พบมากที่สุดของคอลเล็กชันนี้ คือ มีร่องรอยการกัดกินของสัตว์และแมลง

Yet researchers can be overwhelmed by evaluating sources, organizing resources and notes, and working with collaborators. During these stages it is particularly important to model meaningful research relationships to support student success. I address these challenges by having students explore Zotero, a free “research assistant” application and web portal, as they work on structured research assignments. The state of West Virginia lacked a comprehensive, in-depth analysis of the availability of physical books across the state. Access to reading material is vital to a child’s educational development as well as lifelong learning beyond childhood. To guide policy decisions and planning for outreach which addresses reading levels and beyond, I mapped levels of access stemming from socioeconomic barriers, spatial barriers, and an integrated index of both types of barriers.
