This article describes a collaboration between a branch of the Queens Public Library in NY and an academic medical center that delivered a women’s health educational program with an interprofessional team of faculty, trainees, and students. The team delivered interactive 1-hour long monthly sessions in a Question and Answer format guided by a Powerpoint presentation. The overall goal was to deliver health education workshops on common medical conditions (i.e. diabetes, heart disease) and concerns of interest to women across the lifespan (i.e. infertility, dementia) to improve the health literacy of local community members. This researcher investigated staff training programmes as correlate of service delivery in academic libraries in Imo State. The study was guided by three research questions and three hypotheses. This study adopted correlation design which also involved simple linear method. The population of this study consisted of 316 library staff in the seven tertiary institutions. A sample of 168 library staff used for this study was derived using Taro Yemen’s formula of sampling distribution. Cluster random, proportionate and incidental sampling techniques were adopted. Two instruments (rating scales) were used in this study: Staff Training Scale (STS) and Service Delivery Scale (SDS). …

In 2022, the Roseman University of Health Sciences Library went through several major changes. We implemented an RFID self-checkout system, opened the library space for access outside of staffed hours, and reorganized library staff to better serve our campus population. This presentation will cover the justification for the changes, implementation process, and results from the first two months of working with the new model.

The study analyses research productivity of College and Research Library Journal from 2012 to 2021 using bibliometric method. The journal published 808 research papers within the period. The published papers were analysed to determine, the type of document published, chronological distribution of published documents, authorship pattern, most productive articles and the subject coverage of published articles. The result of the study revealed that the types of documents published in C&RL include articles, book reviews, editorial materials, errata and letters. Articles and book reviews were highly published. There was a gradual and unsteady rise in publication within the period with 31.19% …

While many of our libraries have issued public statements declaring a commitment to greater diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), many of us have struggled with how to move beyond words to enacting sustained, anti-oppressive actions. We will look at one library that used a multi-pronged, stepped approach to embed inclusive excellence as a framework in every department. Inclusive excellence recognizes an institution’s ability to succeed is dependent upon how fully it values, engages, and includes the rich diversity of each of its members. Equity, diversity, and inclusivity (EDI) plans and initiatives are at the forefront of many library’s strategic planning (Mallon, 2019). Efforts, big or small, such as mandatory all-staff EDI training sessions (DGPL, 2021), EDI focused patron programming, or simply promoting the local library as a place of opportunity for all (ALA, 2019), demonstrate the American Library Association (ALA)’s Core Values in practice (ALA, 2006). This article provides lessons learned through four cycles of the Tribal Digital Stewardship Cohort Program at Washington State University’s Center for Digital Scholarship and Curation. The author coordinated the hybrid online and in-person training program from 2015-2020, focused on the unique needs of staff at Indigenous archives, libraries, and museums at the beginning of digital projects with unique access considerations. Why is it so hard to find digital humanities projects? While digital humanities librarians emphasize their crucial role in producing DH work as partners in developing, sustaining, and preserving digital resources, scant attention is paid to the library’s role in resource description and discovery, their contribution to disciplinary formation that goes beyond technology stacks and campus service models. These papers provide information about his family and life, including his service in World War II, his contributions to medical research in rheumatic diseases, his Nobel Award and other awards. Standardized cross-cultural databases of the arts are critical to a balanced scientific under- standing of the performing arts, and their role in other domains of human society. This paper introduces the Global Jukebox as a resource for comparative and cross-cultural study of the performing arts and culture. The Global Jukebox adds an extensive and detailed global database of the performing arts that enlarges our understanding of human cultural diversity. Initially prototyped by Alan Lomax in the 1980s, its core is the Cantometric s dataset, encompassing standardized codings on 37 aspects of musical style for 5,776 traditional songs from 1,026 societies. …

Online tutorials are a frequently utilized method for academic libraries to meet student and instructor needs and adapt to the growing digital learning environment. There is little guidance for creating holistically inclusive tutorials and fewer standards for avoiding deficit thinking, which decenters students’ prior knowledge and experiences and perpetuates harmful assumptions. In this session, presenters will share early findings from a mixed-methods content analysis of tutorial offerings from R1 academic libraries. Th e airport catchment area is the geographic area from which an airport can reasonably expect to draw commercial air service passengers. Th e purpose of this interdisciplinary research is to estimate airport catchment areas using a spatial analysis method for informed airport management. A content analysis of 53 public library systems’ websites listed on the Public Library Directory of Mississippi Library Commission was conducted. The purpose of the study was to find types and levels of digital services offered by these library systems. The term “digital services” has been more used in recent literature, which suggests that more libraries started offering more since the start of COVID-19.
