Twitter’s APIs are now the main data source for social media researchers. A large number of studies have utilized Twitter data for diverse research interests. Twitter users can share their precise real-time location, and Twitter APIs can provide this information as longitude and latitude. These geotagged Twitter data can help to study human activities and movements for different applications. Compared to the mostly small-scale data samples in different domains, such as social science, collecting geotagged data offers large samples. Findings are organized by using the shared foundations from the 2017 AASL National School Library Standards and include highlights from the aggregated research. Personal Goal Setting Behavior And Professional Outlooks Of Academic Library Employees, Leo Lo, Amelia Anderson

Studies indicate correlations between personal goal-setting behaviors, performance and attitude in professional roles. An online study was developed and conducted in 2016 with academic library employees to better understand the goal-setting behavior of library employees in a particular context, via setting New Year’s resolutions, which is defined as "a decision to do something or to behave in a certain manner". Results show that nearly half (49.6 percent) of all respondents set New Year’s resolutions in 2016. Goals related to health and fitness topped the list of goals that were set, followed by occupational goals. Of those who felt unclear about …

This chapter serves as a case study describing three science, technology, engineering, and mathematics librarians' processes, reflections, and growth through co-mentorship. The authors discuss the processes and limitations of traditional, hierarchical mentorship structures in academic libraries and outline their work moving beyond this model to create and maintain a feminist co-mentorship community. The peer mentorship model is intentionally non-hierarchical and works as a complementary support system alongside formal mentorship relationships. The Black Bibliography Project (BBP) plans to produce a bibliographic database of printed works by Black writers from the eighteenth to the twenty-first centuries. With the support of the Beinecke Library and a grant from the Mellon Foundation, project co-PIs and codirectors Jacqueline Goldsby and Meredith McGill collaborated with a team of librarians from Yale to develop the data model for their database. Drawing on Beinecke’s James Weldon Johnson Memorial Collection to pull case studies, the team of librarians developed a Linked Data model for BBP in an instance of Wikibase and trained and supported a group of graduate student …

The creation of a new learning commons at the University of Dayton Roesch Library not only highlighted the research and writing support available to students, but it also led to an entirely new library-led cross-training program for writing center student employees. Prior to the new learning commons, the writing center occupied spaces on the upper floors of the library, and the staff of the two units enjoyed a friendly, albeit distant, relationship for many years. In this update of a traditional image analysis exercise, students work together as partners or small groups to identify key components found in visual primary sources. Students analyze an image individually, answering a set of guided analysis questions. They communicate their findings with their partner or group, who analyzed a different, but related image. The groups answer additional questions after collaboratively reviewing, and potentially altering, their initial findings to develop a more complete understanding of the images, such as what is in the images, the purpose they were created for, or the creation time period. Much attention in constructionism has focused on designing tools and activities that support learners in designing fully finished and functional applications and artifacts to be shared with others. But helping students learn to debug their applications often takes on a surprisingly more instructionist stance by giving them checklists, teaching them strategies or providing them with test programs. At a recent BRASS Virtual Discussion, business librarians commiserated over the shared frustration of having to say “no” regularly to resource requests (RUSA_BRASS, n.d.). As a midcareer business librarian, I still feel the discomfort after having said “no” numerous times. In this article, I will share some of the practices I have found helpful in responding to requests from business faculty for new databases or journals, especially when I have to say “no” without burning bridges.

The VCU Affordable Course Content Awards program strives to celebrate the success of projects developed with our support. Through the VCU Impact Levels, the Affordable Course Content Awards celebrates project achievements with set "milestones" that mark the number of students impacted, cost savings from using free resources, and semesters the resource has been used at VCU. Medals mark each milestone, with current levels and color/medal designs outlined in the document.

Approach: To identify authors' association in each document published in fourteen law journals from 2005 – 2019. Methodology: Data for research downloaded from Scopus-Elsevier databases. International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) as "Default" use in the menu bar of each journal in CSV file format to tabulate in MS Excel year-wise, and degree of collaboration.

Results: There are 7688 documents under eight domains; articles, conference papers, editorial, erratum, letters to the editor, notes, review articles, and short surveys written by 13823 authors in fourteen journals linked with the subject of law from 2005 - 2019. Articles 5798; 75.4% …

Creating Connections: Engaging Student Library Employees Through Experiential Learning, Joseph B. Everett, Marissa Bischoff

Academic libraries are finding that involving student employees in collaborative projects fosters student development while increasing library capability and impact. This article validates and builds on Denda and Hunter’s team-based engagement framework. The authors expound on that model with principles of experiential learning that apply to a broad scope of student library work. They demonstrate this approach through creative project examples, including the exhibit “Connection.” Engaging student library employees through workplace experiential learning connects them to people and purpose, fostering skill development and a service mindset for their library roles and future careers.
