Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Researchers support their research work by citing previous studies. Citations are considered important indicator of research performance and many research based indicators are based on these. Self-citation, i.e., citing own previous studies, is a common practice but excessive and unsolicited self-citations are unethical and not considered good. The present paper intends to study the self-citations of “DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology” in terms of author-self citation, journal self-citation and author-journal self-citation during the ten year period from 2010 to 2019. The study also covers authorship pattern, collaboration and prolific authors in the journal under study.

Retraction is used as an optimum tool to uphold and safe-guide the integrity of scholarly literature. However, knowingly or unknowingly the authors build the work on these false claims by citing the retracted articles. Such dependencies on retracted articles may become implicit and indirect causing profound and long-lasting threat to the credibility of the literature. Consequently, it is important to detect and analyze such threats. The article aims to demonstrate dependency of citing articles on retracted article with reference to the rest of the literature. A Scoping Review Of Classification Of Concrete Cracks Using Deep Convolution Learning Approach, Priyanka Tupe-Waghmare, Rahul Raghvendra Joshi
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
An important factor that causes defect in the concrete structure is the systematic damage and it is very difficult to detect the cracks by visual examination. Digital image processing has proven to be one of the best substitutes for the monitoring of the cracks. A traditional filter based on image processing algorithm is a classical approach for monitoring the cracks. Thereafter, the deep learning-based methods have been implemented to detect and classify the cracks on the concrete images and have shown significant results. The convolution neural network-based models have fairly observed and graded the cracks giving better performance in terms …

Google Books’ (GB) full-text search of more than 40 million books offers significant value for libraries and their patrons. However, Google’s refusal to disclose information about the coverage of GB, as well as observed gaps and inaccuracies in the collection and its metadata, makes it difficult to recommend with confidence for a given research need. While most search and retrieval functions work well, glitches aren’t hard to find, which suggests GB development is focused on user experiences that relate to monetization. Privacy and equity concerns surrounding GB mirror those of other big technology platforms. Still, every librarian should familiarize themselves …
