As the development of digital libraries increases, the growth has been accompanied by a refinement of evaluation criteria and methods. Evaluators are increasingly aware that the context of digital library usage (the social, cultural, academic, and institutional environments of the users) is an essential consideration of effective assessment. This article evaluates the Perseus Digital Library through the needs and objectives of a specific learning community – those engaged in theological research. After a review of relevant literature, a rationale is given for ranking ten key facets of digital library evaluation by order of importance. These criteria are then applied to …

In 2007, Calumet College of Saint Joseph decided to start a University Archives with the intention of preserving their institutional history. In 2009, they added the Bishop Andrew Grutka papers, with the intention of using this collection as the keystone for the archives. While this project had plenty of spiritual support, the institution failed to realize a few key concepts, such as funding, staffing, and what an archive does for a university. The Kenyan National Anthem: A Copyright Uncertainty, Elizabeth Oyange -Ngando

In February 2019, a story broke that the Kenyan national anthem had been copyrighted by a British company. An online user had composed a work and attempted to post it on video site YouTube, upon which his video was stuck out for copyright infringement. There was a further claim that the video had been copyrighted by the foreign organization which was then monetizing it to the exclusion of Kenyans. Such an alarmist outlook of intellectual property matters is misguided, and a closer dissection of the copyright framework is necessary.

Language Documentation In The Aftermath Of The 2015 Nepal Earthquakes: A Guide To Two Archives And A Web Exhibit, Kristine A. Hildebrandt, Tanner Burge-Beckley, Jacob Sebok

SIUE Faculty Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity

We describe two institutionally related archives and an online exhibit representing a set of Tibeto-Burman languages of Nepal. These archives and exhibit were built to house materials resulting from documentation of twelve Tibeto-Burman languages in the aftermath of the 2015 Nepal earthquakes. This account includes a detailed discussion of the different materials recorded, and how they were prepared for the collections. This account also provides a comparison of the two different types of archives, the different but complementary functions they serve, and a discussion of the role that online exhibits can play in the context of language documentation archives.

This study aims to determine the use of symbols of Islamic expression on social media Instagram as a marketing communication strategy of Equestrian and Archery Tourism in Indonesia. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach to the content analysis conducted on three official Instagram social media accounts from the three most popular Equestrian and Archery Tourism destinations in Indonesia. The results showed that most uploads on the Instagram account of equestrian and archery tourism in Indonesia display symbols of Islamic expressions, such as on images, captions, and hashtags. To understand the history and research status of information visualization, information visualization research citation data has been collected from the Scopus expanded during the period from 1990 to 2018. Results indicated that the research of information visualization has increased during the studied 29-year period. The country with the highest research output was the United States with 1996 publications, while the institution with the highest research output was the CNRS Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique.
