It is not easy to tackle the issues and address the impact of abnormal or unhealthy interpersonal behaviors and interactions in the workplace. Drawing from literature on dysfunctional organizational cultures and workplaces from the library, management, and organizational development disciplines, Jo Henry, Jo Eshleman, and Richard Moniz approach the subject of the dysfunctional library in a slim volume titled The Dysfunctional Library: Challenges and Solutions to Workplace Relationships.

Purpose: The paper focuses on x-raying the challenges of managing university libraries in contemporary digital environment. Purpose: This paper examined the challenges to transforming library and information services (LIS) for effective service delivery in three academic libraries in Imo state. Design/Methodology/Approach: The survey method was adopted for this study with questionnaire as the instrument for data collection. The target population comprises of library and information science professionals in three academic libraries in Imo State Nigeria. The study surveyed the strategies used in marketing library and Information services in Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, Anambra state Nigeria. It was discovered that the strategies used in marketing are ineffective compared to the changing situations in contemporary university environment. Personal experiences as a staff in the library were used to draw inferences for the study. The major marketing strategy used were face-to-face interaction with library user, good communication skills, use of library notice board, display and exhibition, institutions website and use of library as a course. Abstract

The study assessed the extent of awareness and utilization of electronic library resources by students of the Tamale Technical University in Ghana’s Northern Region. Descriptive survey design was employed to collect data from 150 students using questionnaire. From the analysis, the study found that students awareness level of electronic resources was very low as majority (61%) of the students interviewed indicated they were unaware of the existence of electronic library resources in the school because they did not have prior knowledge of its existence. Lessons From The Treblinka Archive: Transnational Collections And Their Implications For Historical Research, Chad S.A. Gibbs

Journal of Contemporary Archival Studies

In work for his 1979 book The Death Camp Treblinka, Alexander Donat began the process of locating survivors of the camp and recording their histories. In a telling testament to the lethality of this place, he could identify only sixty-eight survivors. Analysis of Donat’s early findings—emerging six years prior to the publication of any major academic monograph on the subject—offers a window into the difficulties of conducting research on this Nazi extermination camp and its widely-scattered witnesses.

It highlights some of the chapters that will be most relevant to archivists, provides overviews and highlights of each of the book's three sections, discusses some of the main themes that come up throughout the book, and mentions a few strengths and drawbacks to the book’s approach. Excuses For Silence: A Review Of The Silence Of The Archive, Anna Robinson-Sweet

Journal of Contemporary Archival Studies

The Silence of the Archive by David Thomas, Simon Fowler, and Valerie Johnson promises to investigate the causes of archival silence, and to find solutions for dealing with these silences. The topic is timely and important at a time when distrust of power is high, and there exists a concomitant expectation of finding truth in the archives. The book is reticent in its investigation, however, shying away from calling out the way power is exercised to create silences. The exception is Valerie Johnson’s argument on the necessity of silence, which challenges the tendency toward stasis in the archive.

Since its inception six years ago, our institutional repository has provided a number of opportunities to increase campus diversity awareness and representation. Examples begin with use as the registration/schedule platform for our annual Diversity Conference and as a repository for keynotes and other conference sessions. The repository also houses student journals such as 'Dissenting Voices', and we have built online exhibits related to artifacts from other parts of the world (e.g., New Guinea). Access to research materials is an issue that cuts across disciplines and impacts most researchers as they gather information. For a digital scholar in need of a textual corpus, however, these challenges may be particularly acute. Those studying mid-to-late 20th century works may find themselves in uncertain territory with regard to copyright and licensing. Those studying historically marginalized populations may have trouble finding a pre-compiled corpus, or finding texts at all. Researchers at smaller institutions or in underfunded departments may find that existing datasets are not available to them due to cost, or that they run into copyright and licensing …
