การรับสารนิเทศของผู้ผลิตรายการโทรทัศน์ประเภทสารคดี, ชลลดา เกตวัลห์, พิมพ์รำไพ เปรมสมิทธ์

วารสารบรรณารักษศาสตร์ (Library Science Journal)

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการรับสารนิเทศของผู้ผลิตรายการโทรทัศน์ประเภทสารคดี ในด้านแหล่งที่รับสารนิเทศ เนื้อหาสารนิเทศ การจัดการกับสารนิเทศที่ได้รับ รวมถึงปัญหาในการรับสารนิเทศของผู้ผลิตรายการโทรทัศน์ ประเภทสารคดี โดยใช้แบบสัมภาษณ์แบบมีโครงสร้างเป็นเครื่องมือ ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากผู้ผลิตรายการโทรทัศน์จำนวน 37 คน จาก 6 สถานี ผลการวิจัย พบว่าผู้ผลิตรายการโทรทัศน์ประเภทสารคดีทุกคน รับสารนิเทศด้านสาระความรู้จากแหล่งสารนิเทศ บุคคล และแหล่งสารนิเทศสถาบัน/หน่วยงาน โดยนำไปใช้ประโยชน์เพื่อเขียนบทรายการโทรทัศน์ประเภทสารคดี สำหรับ ปัญหาที่ผู้ผลิตรายการโทรทัศน์ประเภทสารคดีประสบในการรับสารนิเทศ พบว่า ในด้านเนื้อหาสารนิเทศ ประสบปัญหาในระดับในระดับปานกลางและนะดับน้อย โดยปัญหาที่มีค่าเฉลี่ยสูงสุดคือ เนื้อหาไม่ตรงกับความต้องการ ด้านแหล่งสารนิเทศประสบปัญหาในระดับปานกลางและระดับน้อย โดยปัญหาที่มีค่าเฉลี่ยสูงสุดคือ ได้รับข้อมูลที่ไม่ถูกต้องจากแหล่งสารนิเทศและด้านตัวผู้รับสารนิเทศประสบปัญหาในระดับน้อยทั้งหมด โดยปัญหาที่มีค่าเฉลี่ยสูงสุดคือ ไม่มีเวลาในการรับสารนิเทศ The objectives of this research were to investigate information reception of documentary television (TV) program producers, in terms of, sources, contents and management of information they receive, as well as their problems on information reception that TV producers encountered, the structured interviews were used to gather the data from 37 produces in six TV stations. Keeping Education Affordable: Engaging Faculty In A Textbook Alternatives Program, Ann Agee, Mike Jerbic

The average annual cost to students for textbooks is $1,754, and a recent survey found that 49% of students were likely or very likely to not buy a required textbook because of the cost. When cost is an obstacle, learning is hampered. To combat soaring costs, we launched an Affordable Learning Solutions campaign, engaging faculty in finding textbook alternatives that lower costs and improve learning. This session will explore how we recruited faculty and walk attendees through one class that uses low-cost materials and open educational resources available online.

Shuji Isawa (1850-1917) was sent to the United States by the Japanese Ministry of Education during the early portion of the Meiji Restoration. In 1875 Isawa enrolled at the Bridgewater State Normal School to learn about the United States educational system and Normal School movement, and to bring this information back to Japan. He graduated from Bridgewater State Normal School in 1877 after finishing the two year program. He would go onto study at Harvard for a short time before returning to Japan.

Academic and public librarians are increasingly recognizing the value of online tutorials as a means of providing patrons with the ability to learn information literacy concepts and explore library tools at their own pace and at the point of need. However, a static tutorial video cannot compete with the dynamic, engaging information content that patrons encounter in their everyday lives, and they often fail to produce lasting learning. Studies have shown that providing students with content that requires interaction and participation more successfully keeps their attention and ensures more permanent recall. A Room Of Her Own: The Woman's Library, A Footnote To New York City Library History, Sandra Roff

The revolutionary idea of a library for working women in New York City can be traced to 1830, but it remained dormant for twenty-eight years until a group of prominent New Yorkers revived the cause. In 1858 an address by Henry Ward Beecher and other influential citizens reviewed the benefits of such a library, and after two years of planning the women's library became a reality. New York City was unique in providing a library just for women; however, financial support dwindled, and it was forced to be taken over by the Women's Protective Union by 1870.

Discovery Search Tools: A Comparative Study, Mandi Goodsett

This review allows librarians to compare three of the major discovery services–EBSCO Discovery Service, Ex Libris’ Primo and Serials Solutions’ Summon–on the basis of price, content, user experience, features and functionality and back-end configuration to make informed decisions about the best tool for their institutions.

Design/methodology/approach

The comparisons were made through a literature review, study of the vendors’ websites, several interviews and personal usability testing of each tool.

Findings

The tools each have their strengths and weaknesses, and a decision of which tool is most appropriate for an institution varies depending on the institution’s needs and current situation.

St. John Fisher College’s Lavery Library implemented GIST (Getting It System Toolkit) with the intention of integrating Purchase on Demand into the Interlibrary Loan process. This strategy was chosen to make the request submission process remain seamless for Lavery patrons while improving our collection through patron-driven acquisitions. Leveraging the power of ILLiad, combined with GIST, we were able to change perceptions about collection development and allow our users to guide the growth of our collection at their curricular, research, or leisure point of need. While some academic librarians have embraced the role of researcher and have successfully become active researchers and authors, others have struggled to be productive in this aspect of their responsibilities. A content analysis of literature on research productivity for librarians and non-librarians was conducted in order to identify factors that have been found to affect research success. In 1944, two California courts agreed with actor Olivia De Havilland’s claim that the state’s seven year limit on the enforceability of employment contracts applied to her 1936 contract with Warner Bros. Pictures, and refused to enforce the contract beyond its seventh anniversary. This article revisits the well-known De Haviland v. Warner Bros. Pictures (1944) Appellate Court decision, and its lesser-known, lower court antecedent, in order to explore the decisions’ related but distinct assumptions about employment, employers, and employees. The following study is a textual analysis of collective agreements from Canadian Universities that include provisions for librarians. There has for many years been a focus on the “crisis in librarianship.” The hope with this research is to celebrate the victories and highlight how collective agreements are foundations upon which librarians can build. The collective agreements act as signposts of the gains that librarians have made over the years in negotiations with administration and as advocates on campuses across the country.
