This study describes the efforts of an educator to both engage and enlighten his local community regarding the importance of preserving primary resources, and a brief community history highlighting its origin. Finally, this study offers a narrative regarding a community’s collaborative effort to re-discover and reclaim its identity.

In spring 2013 a group of faculty and administrators completed a series of workshops exploring Bernard Lonergan's General Empirical Method (GEM) and ways to apply it to our teaching. GEM invites students to learn how to think for themselves and discover themselves as learners. There are three initial steps - experiencing, understanding, and judging - which can readily be applied to searching, discovering and evaluating information resources. I report on my collaboration with a Biology professor teaching "Ecology and Stewardship," where we jointly incorporated elements of GEM, information literacy and the research process and developed rubrics for assessing student work.

The present study is based on 10983 citations, appended in the 30 PhD theses of chemical sciences submitted to Tezpur University, Assam for the award of doctoral degree during the period 2008-2012. The main purpose of this study was to investigate authorship pattern of the citations, type and form of literature cited, and compiled a rank list of core journals in chemical sciences. The study revealed that journals were the most preferred sources of information used by the researchers in the field of chemical sciences accounting for 78.83% of total citations, followed by books with 15.57 % citations. According to a 2013 survey, about 40% of college students have used tablets for coursework and two-thirds have used a smartphone. Students also report that they would like to use their mobile devices more often in their courses. This session will provide the opportunity to learn about strategies for incorporating the use of mobile devices in the classroom, including WU-texter, an application developed and implemented by Ron in a computer science course.

The present paper is a Scientometric Study of Digital Literacy in Online Library Information Science and Technology Abstracts (LISTA) during the year 1997 to 2011. The study attempts to examine the distribution of articles (age-wise, year-wise, and article-wise), authorship pattern, subject, language, and geographical distribution. Bradford’s law used to determine the scattering of journal articles in the publication pattern on the LISTA database. Results indicate that majority of articles published during the year 2009-2011 and focus mainly on academic education. International Information & Library Review have published greater number of articles on digital literacy.

Information literacy—the ability to find, evaluate and use information effectively—is an essential skill set. The authors examine how assignments such as case analyses and research reports help business students master these abilities and provide examples of how analytic rubrics with measurable outcomes are particularly suited to assessing these skills. Also demonstrated is how librarians enhance and support student learning of information literacy by teaching in-depth research skills. Working together, professors and librarians can give students a solid foundation in the information-handling skills they need to be effective and productive in the workplace today.
