The article offers information on the leadership theory in context with strong and integrated school library program. Several theories of leadership are listed. Core competencies of leaders that include managing attention, managing meaning and managing trust are discussed. Three major functions of leadership are also discussed.

For years libraries have hired hundreds of student workers to maintain crucial functions in the library. Without student workers, libraries cannot provide essential services to the university community. Yet limited research exists on how libraries have developed professional career tracks for student workers and library staff. Investigators from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Southern Illinois University Carbondale developed a survey to determine what portion of library employees started as student workers and to what extent there is career mobility within academic libraries. Librarians and staff were surveyed and participated in focus groups to share stories about their start in libraries. …

การรับสารนิเทศด้านสุขภาพเกี่ยวกับโรคกระดูกพรุนของผู้สูงอายุ, จันทร์งาม ชูตระกูล

งานวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษา การรับสารนิเทศด้านสุขภาพเกี่ยวกับโรคกระดูพรุนของผู้สูงอายุในด้านแหล่ง สารนิเทศ และเนื้อหาสารนิเทศที่ได้รับ รวมถึงปัญหาในการรับสารนิเทศด้านสุภาพเกี่ยวกับโรคกระดูกพรุนของผู้สูงอายุ การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจ โดยการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากการสัมภาษณ์ผู้สูงอายุที่ป่วยเป็นโรคกระดูกพรุนที่มารับบริการรักษาพยาบาลที่แผนกผู้ป่วยนอกโรงพยาบาลรัฐในเขตกรุงเทพมหานคร จำนวน 3 แห่ง ๆ ละ 100 ราย รวมทั้งสิ้น 300 ราย ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ผู้สูงอายุส่วนใหญ่ได้รับสารนิเทศด้านสุขภาพเกี่ยวกับโรคกระดูกพรุนจากแหล่งบุคคลโดยได้รับ คำแนะนำจากแพทย์ เนื้อหาสารนิเทศที่ผู้สูงอายุส่วนใหญ่ได้รับครอบคลุมทุกด้าน ได้แก่ เรื่องปัจจัยเสี่ยงต่อการเกิดโรคกระดูกพรุน การป้องกันด้านการโภชนาการ ความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับโรคและอาการยารักษาโรค การป้องกันการหกล้ม การป้อง กันด้านการออกกำลังกาย การวินิจฉัยโรค และการป้องกันด้านพฤติกรรมสุขภาพ ตามลำดับ สำหรับปัญหาในการรับสาร นิเทศด้านสุขภาพที่ผู้สูงอายุประสบ ซึ่งมีค่าเฉลี่ยสูงสุดคือ ผู้สูงอายุไม่มีเวลาที่จะร่วมกิจกรรมรณรงค์เกี่ยวกับสุขภาพ

Alumni are the most obvious potential donors to an academic library. Many alumni recognize the library as part of their higher education experience and are happy to give to the library. การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการใช้ระบบงานควบคุมสิ่งพิมพ์ต่อเนื่องในระบบห้องสมุดอัตโนมัติอินโนแพคมิล ลิเนียม (INNOPAC Millennium) ในด้านความพึงพอใจ ปัญหาและอุปสรรคของผู้ปฏิบัติงาน และเพื่อประเมินผลการสืบค้น และความต้องการของผู้ใช้บริการที่สืบค้นผ่านโปรแกรมสืบค้นข้อมูลแบบออนไลน์ OPAC ในระบบห้องสมุดอัตโนมัติอินโนแพคมิลลิเนียม ผลการวิจัยพบว่า สิ่งพิมพ์ต่อเนื่องที่นำเข้าระบบควบคุมมากที่สุดคือสิ่งพิมพ์ต่อเนื่องในรูปแบบสิ่งพิมพ์ที่เป็น ภาษาไทย รองลงมาคือ สิ่งพิมพ์ที่เป็นภาษาอังกฤษ ในด้านการใช้งานพบว่า มีการใช้เมนูหลักการลงรับวารสารเข้าและการเย็บเล่มวารสารเป็นบางครั้ง ไม่ได้ใช้เมนูหลักการเวียนวารสารและมีการใช้เมนูหลักการทวงถามวารสารน้อย ในด้านความ พึงพอใจพบว่า มีความพึงพอใจเมนูหลักการลงรับวารสารเข้ามาก ไม่พึงพอใจการเวียนวารสาร พึงพอใจการเย็บเล่มวารสารปานกลาง และพึงพอใจการทวงถามวารสารน้อย สำหรับปัญหาและอุปสรรคพบว่า โปรแกรมฯที่นำมาใช้มีปัญหาและอุปสรรคปานกลางมีปัญหาและอุปสรรคในการลงรับวารสารเข้า การเวียนวารสาร การทวงถามวารสารและการเย็บเล่มวารสารน้อย ผู้ใช้บริการต้องการให้ผลการสืบค้นที่ได้รับสามารถเข้าไปได้ถึงเอกสารฉบับเต็ม การประเมินผลพบว่าระบบมีประสิทธิภาพในการทำงาน แต่ยังใช้งานไม่ครบตามเมนูการใช้งานในระบบ เนื่องจากมีบุคลากรไม่เพียงพอในการปฏิบัติงาน จึงใช้งานในส่วนที่สำคัญและจำเป็นเท่านั้น The purposes of the research were to study the serials control module utility, including the satisfaction, problems and obstacles in the serials module of the Innopac millennium automated library system to users as well as to analyze and evaluate the search results and the needs of users conducting searching through the online public access catalog (opac) of the Innopac millennium automated library system. In 1990, ARL published SPEC Kit 165 Cultural Diversity Programming in ARL Libraries and SPEC Kit 167 Minority Recruitment and Retention in ARL Libraries. Both of these documents provided a wealth of information about library programs and services that addressed the needs of a diverse user group, minority staff recruitment and retention strategies, and approaches to managing an ethnically/culturally diverse workforce. While survey results in those SPEC Kits indicated that progress had been made since the 1960s, respondents indicated they thought there was much more to do to ensure that academic and research library staff are representative of all …

Purpose – The paper aims to systematically review research that analyzes satisfaction with electronic reference services, paying particular attention to how user satisfaction is measured. The application and value of evidence‐based methodologies for library and information science (LIS) research are explored.

Design/methodology/approach – Database searches identified research concerned with electronic reference. Articles with a variable of user satisfaction were extracted and subjected to a critical appraisal. The remaining research was analyzed for similarities, differences, and consistency.

Findings – A wide variety of methods are used to measure user satisfaction. There was almost no overlap in specific questions considered although there …

Video collections have undergone many changes over the recent decades, but have library circulation policies and practices kept up? The historical model for audiovisual collections at colleges and universities has been that of a reserve collection where films were purchased at faculty request as classroom support, held in closed stacks for availability to faculty while student access was limited, and rarely was resource sharing through interlibrary loan allowed. The purpose of this study was to determine whether law students experienced library anxiety and, if so, which components contributed to that anxiety. The Multidimensional Library Anxiety Scale (mlas) developed by Dr. Doris Van Kampen was used to assess library anxiety levels of law students. The mlas is a 53 question Likert scale instrument that measures the construct of library anxiety. Participants in the study were law students enrolled in a private midwestern university during the 2009-2010 academic year who completed the survey instrument.
