Library 2.0 applications benefit library users by providing rich, peer-generated content that adds value to online library databases and systems. However, not all of this shared content is beneficial, for it’s possible for library users to abuse library 2.0 applications by uploading words, pictures, or other content that constitutes hate speech. Internet lawyer Christopher Wolf warns of, “ … the sudden and rapidly increasing deployment of Web 2.0 technologies to spread messages, sounds and images of hate across the Internet and around the world” [1]. In an effort to make required training easily available to academic library employees, the author used the campus course management system (CMS), WebCT Vista, to create online learning modules for the library. Also discussed are general benefits of online learning, the technology competencies that prompted the development of the learning modules, and the design and components of the learning modules.

Two Major Strategies For Facilitating Increased Interlibrary Loan Patron Satisfaction, Michelle Smith

The article examines two strategies for facilitating increased interlibrary loan patron satisfaction which are implemented in the Interlibrary Loan Unit at Kennesaw State University in the Atlanta metro area in northwest Georgia. To increase timeliness of materials received and realistic expectations of services, the strategies consist of educating interlibrary loan patrons. Automation and technology are also used to increase the requesting effectiveness of interlibrary loan staff and timeliness of materials to achieve patron satisfaction. The second strategy utilizes citation verification, checking online computer library center and borrowing request notes to increase fill rates.

Atlanta-Fulton Hosts Children's Festival

The article reports on the Ashley Bryan Children's Literary Festival hosted by Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System's Auburn Avenue Research Library on African-American History and Culture presented on April 25 and 26, 2008. The children's literacy program celebrated the contribution of Ashley Brayan to children's literature with interactive and educational programs and events that introduced children of all ages to culturally relevant art, literature and poetry. The conference was attended by teachers, librarians and parents and many children.

Ephesus Breaks Ground For New Library
