OBJECTIVES

The Cochrane Urology Working Group has undergone multiple administrative and personnel changes over its history. Presently, there are nearly a dozen Information Specialists volunteering from several institutions and two countries. To identify areas for quality and consistency improvement, we evaluated the search methodologies in 64 Urology Group Reviews/Protocols.

METHODS

64 published Urology Group Cochrane Systematic Reviews (CSR) and Protocols (CSP) were downloaded from the Cochrane Library on September 15, 2016. A data form was created using Qualtrics consisting of several sections including expanded PRESS (Peer-Review of Electronic Search Strategies) elements, database selection, search methodology reporting, & consistency. KanbanFlow.com will be introduced as a user-friendly tool for implementing Kanban in the workplace to improve performance outcomes and deal with shifting and measuring priorities. Unbuilt Clemson (slated for publication in Spring 2020 by Clemson University Press) is an in-depth excavation—from institutional records, archival evidence, and oral histories—of selected unrealized building projects throughout the history of campus development and planning at Clemson University, with a focus on projects developed to the building design or site plan stage. In remembrance of the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising a display of materials focused on the Holocaust has been set up on the 4th floor of Cooper Library. The display contains a range of items but is centered on Nazi-era ghettos, concentration camps and their liberation, Holocaust-centered art and literature, and memoirs of Holocaust survivors. These titles represent some of the highest-quality sources for the plans, sections, elevations, and site plans students rely on in their study of architectural precedents, so we want students to be able to exploit them thoroughly. How our library catalogs display these resources–as periodicals with a basic serial record, or as monographs with individual titles, subject headings, and content notes –significantly affects how discoverable and, ultimately, how useful their best features are. Building on recently published research, an academic librarian and art professor facilitate the design and creation of visual and text pieces that illustrate information literacy terms’ meanings. This informational campaign uses data from a large-scale assessment of student comprehension of terms used in library instruction and syllabi. It offers an innovative way to teach students the language they need to be effective researchers, while detailing a library-art department collaboration that gives students a real-world learning experience.

Cooper’s March display features fictional works that center on the immigrant experience. An emphasis has been placed on immigration to the United States and second-generation Americans, but alongside works such as Behold the Dreamers and Americanah are works like Refugee Tales, and more fantastical options like The Golem and the Jinni and Life of Pi. Young adult novels such as 90 Miles to Havana, picture books like One Green Apple, and graphic novels like The Arrival and American Born Chinese are included, as are films such as Foreign Letters.

Attracting and keeping students is a high priority in higher education and for some time academic libraries have examined some of the ways they might be contributing to student retention. Some have found a relationship between library instruction and retention, others have found it between library use and retention.
