This study was conducted to investigate different aspects of library anxiety using a modified version of Multidimensional Library Anxiety Scale (Van Kampen, 2003). Participants were 123 M.A. students in the field of education and psychology at Shiraz University in Iran. The results indicated that 18% of students experience high levels of library anxiety. The result of ANOVA indicated that there is a significant correlation in all aspects of the library anxiety among students of different majors. This study examined the information seeking behaviour of undergraduate students in two Seventh - day Adventist institutions. The population was made up of 4,741 students from three faculties registered during the first semester of 2009/2010 academic session. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select 474 students who took part in the study. A questionnaire adapted from Patitungkho and Deshpande (2005) was used for data collection. Data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics and Chi-square. This article responds to William T. Caniano's recent article in Library Philosophy and Practice criticizing the Commons model as causing a "labization" of the library, where a focus on high gate count creates noise problems inimical to the traditional scholarly ideal of the library. Caniano further asserts that increased use of laptops and mobile devices in the future will drive down demand for desktops, thus drastically reducing gate count and causing our Commons to become deserted. Influence Of Locus Of Control And Job Satisfaction On Organizational Commitment: A Study Of Medical Records Personnel In University Teaching Hospitals In Nigeria, Bruno I. Igbeneghu, S. O. Popoola

The study examines the influence of work locus of control and job satisfaction on organizational commitment of medical records personnel in university teaching hospitals in Nigeria. The research design was the ex-post- facto. A total of 359 medical records personnel from federal and state university teaching hospitals in Nigeria participated in the study. The instrument for data collection was the questionnaire. The results of the study reveal that organizational commitment has a significant inverse relationship with work locus of control (r = -.131, P < 0.05), but has a significant positive relationship with job satisfaction (r = . 340, P < 0.05).The study also revealed that a combination of work locus of control and job satisfaction have significant influence on the organizational commitment of medical records personnel in university teaching hospitals in Nigeria. (F = 24.900, df = 2; 356, P < 0.05). A combination of work locus of control and job satisfaction have significant influence on the organizational commitment of medical records personnel in university teaching hospitals in Nigeria.

This study investigates the pattern of School Resource Centre (SRC) use among teachers from selected high schools in Malaysia. Survey methodology was used and questionnaire was the only instrument used to gather relevant information for the study. The findings of the study indicated that the level of SRC usage among teachers is still low. While only a small number of teachers really used SRC services for their teaching-learning purposes. This research aims to examine URL decay of articles published in Journal of the Medical Library Association (JMLA). To do this, at first, we extracted all issues of JMLA from 2002 to 2008 and calculated number of all Web citations (URLs). Afterwards, we checked decay or availability of individual cited URLs. Results of these tests were then compiled and analyzed to examine reasons for failure as well as to obtain the half-life value of Web citations in JMLA. The study revealed that 76% of articles have Web citations and each article on average uses 5 URLs. From 1049 cited URLs, …

This article reports on research into the quality of critical thinking factors in research articles of Iranian researchers in library and information science (LIS) over a period of 10 years (1997-2007). The research method includes content analysis, a checklist built on Facion's critical thinking factors, and the international test of Paul and Elder. The collected data are analyzed by using descriptive, analytical, and deductive methods. This paper is a citation analyses that assesses references of theses submitted to the Department of Library and Information Science at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka from 1997 to 2007 The results revealed that journals are cited more than other information resources, and online resources cited were very rarely from 1997-2005, but increased from 2006 and 2007. College and Research Libraries is the most cited journal. The major subject area covered in their research is library management/administration; user studies, information communication technology, and collection development while bibliometrics, preservation, special and public libraries were less commonly researched.

Competent staff in university libraries are essential for the delivery of quality services and research productivity. This study explores the staffing patterns of LIS professionals in the university libraries (ULs). It also investigates the level of satisfaction of library directors with the available professional staff. A questionnaire survey was conducted in 20 public sector ULs of the Punjab province. The findings reveal that most libraries (79%) are understaffed (including unfilled vacancies) and library directors are not satisfied with the number of available staff. All libraries used print advertisements to publicize job vacancies.
