Collectively, these issues form the core of the scholarly communication process, from creation to dissemination to impact. However, an overlooked facet of the scholarly communication process is the acknowledgement. …

This paper explores the notion that records created with the Scholarly Works Application Profile will be more accurate and better suited for academia than those created with Qualified Dublin Core. This is accomplished by comparing and contrasting records of scholarly articles created with Qualified Dublin Core and records for the same documents created with the Scholarly Works Application Profile. After this practical comparison, the ultimate conclusion reached is that creating records for scholarly works with SWAP is much easier than with QDC, and that the records themselves are indeed better designed for academia.
