In this study, a Knowledge Map (KM) was created based on the Research Lifecycle at the University of Central Florida to provide campus-wide services and resources to researchers. The KM aims to meet the needs of researchers and delivers guided searching and assistance in all aspects of research, including literature review, citation management, research data management, grant management, research work publication and dissemination. This presentation will introduce UCF’s digital collection migration from DigiTool to Islandora, the new content management system for the state universities in Florida. It discusses the issues in DublinCore (DC) to MODS transformation, explores the possible options, the approach adopted and the tool used for MODS metadata editing.

As part of the state-wide Islandora implementation, UCF has been migrating its collections in DigiTool to MODS records for Islandora to ingest. The CALA 40th Anniversary Issue, Reaching Beyond Ourselves: Celebrating 40 Years of CALA (1973-2013), is without doubt a unique collection of the Chinese American Librarians Association’s (CALA) history. It contains pictures, biographies, citations and messages from the presidents of the CALA since its very beginning in 1973, obtained from historical CALA newsletters and the presidents themselves. Researchers at the University of Central Florida have access to support for acquiring and managing grants, writing and publishing research results, and performing computational analysis of large data. However, until recently these services were not coordinated at the institutional level and there was no clearinghouse to connect researchers to available support. In response, the UCF Libraries, with input from faculty and relevant campus units, developed a mental model of support and services of interest to university researchers. Librarians at the University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries have created a visual model depicting the cycle of research at an institutional level while embedding scholarly services into the flow. The Research Lifecycle is used as a basis to build a framework for the faculty research process and gain both support and funding for new infrastructure and services.

The UCF Research Lifecycle includes four sub-cycles: a planning cycle, a project cycle, a publication cycle and the 21st century digital scholarship cycle. In each cycle, supporting services are added to the research flow. Amid the existing services provided by different university …

Purpose
– This paper aims to provide an overview of the field of hospitality management and a guide to the major books, databases, web sites, and other resources that comprise a quality hospitality management reference collection.

Design/methodology/approach
– Following a short introduction and overview, key sources and annotations are presented in categories that will help reference and collection librarians to better understand and serve hospitality management students. The sources were identified through the author's experience, library research guides and web sites, bibliographies, and other standard sources.

This presentation will address the experiments of building research publication collections from external data sources such as PubMed, IEEE Xplore and Web of Science in the DSpace based institutional repository (IR). Making Online Instruction Count: Statistical Reporting Of Web-Based Library Instruction Activities, Tim Bottorff, Andrew Todd

Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works

Statistical reporting of library instruction (LI) activities has historically focused on measures relevant to face-to-face (F2F) settings. However, newer forms of LI conducted in the online realm may be difficult to count in traditional ways, leading to inaccurate reporting to both internal and external stakeholders. A thorough literature review is combined with the results of an investigative survey to reveal the current status of reporting such activities. The results reveal considerable confusion about the reporting of Web-based LI activities, even though a number of librarians are devoting significant amounts of time to this important and growing area of librarianship.
