As systematic reviews become increasingly common in graduate education—particularly in health sciences programs—librarians are often called upon to support students and faculty undertaking these complex research projects. This article outlines a practical, evolving approach to building librarian support for systematic reviews, developed in response to program needs and professional learning. It highlights strategies for designing low-barrier instruction, guiding students through foundational concepts like structured research questions and transparent search methods, and introducing free tools such as Rayyan and Mendeley to streamline the process. Eugene Talmadge’S Library Book Purge Of 1941, David B. Parker

In Summer 1941, Governor Eugene Talmadge ordered a purging of 23 books from Georgia’s public school libraries. The books covered several subjects: race relations, sex education, evolution, South-bashing, states’ rights, communism, and more. He was planning on running for a US Senate seat in 1942, and perhaps he did this to attract voter support—showing that he would protect the state’s traditional values from various modern threats. There was immediate opposition, with many people comparing Talmadge’s ban to German Nazism.

Promotion, marketing, and sustainability aren’t often considered factors in the creation or adoption of open educational resources (OER). OER authors often avoid crafting a marketing or promotion plan for their newly created materials, as the presenters found in a previous research study funded by an Affordable Learning Georgia (ALG) research grant. The presenters received a grant to understand why authors and supporters do not consider promotion and sustainability plans as an integral aspect of OER creation and adaptation. The Summer Seminar of the Arts Papers, housed at the Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) Library, document a lively and eclectic arts festival that took place in Montgomery, Alabama, from 1969 to 1983. The collection brings together correspondence, manuscripts, broadsides, and ephemera, including unexpected items such as a poem typed on aluminum foil, from some of the most celebrated poets of the 20th century, including U.S. Poets Laureate and Pulitzer Prize winners. This article explores how archivists managed the unique challenges of processing a small literary collection filled with delicate and experimental materials. Academic reading differs from standard reading. It is a complex form implemented throughout all subjects in higher educational institutions. A shared interest in a month-long novel writing event inspired two reference and instruction librarians to develop a serialized program built around writing and research. Through leveraging resources and partnerships, the librarians planned to foster creativity and confidence in research writing skills within an ethos of community. This project relied on multiple forms of outreach and assessment with an intention that would be meaningful and valuable to the students. Journal of Cybersecurity Education, Research and Practice
Today, there is a rapid increase in the number of people using the Internet via smartphones and relying on them for most of their daily activities. Consequently, smartphones are becoming the target of criminals for atrocious purposes. This study investigated the information security awareness and behavior of smartphone users in the Ibadan metropolis, Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. Data was collected with a questionnaire from 400 respondents who were conveniently selected. Findings revealed that most smartphone users knew about the smartphone security features available on their phones. However, most also engaged in behaviors that threatened their information …

This article presents an investigation of the state of peer review for Open Educational Resource (OER) Textbooks, which denotes the variability of peer review practices across OER platforms. The environ-mental scan highlights the critical finding that the perception of quality between OER textbooks and commercially published or traditional textbooks is often linked to the presence or absence of a formal, pre-publication peer review process. Findings emphasized a strong preference on behalf of adopters and potential authors of OER textbooks to have a standardized process or guidance for pursuing pre-publication peer review. Mobile applications (apps) are prevalent across all sectors, including libraries. Today, libraries are in-creasingly adopting mobile technologies to enhance the delivery of resources and services to smartphone and tablet users (Singh & Madhusudhan, 2023). Although censorship is an international problem with a long history, American public and school libraries have faced increased censorship efforts from parents and politicians concerning materials available to children over the past few years.
