In 1992, Nigeria's economy faced significant pressures but showed resilience, with rapid growth in output and economic liquidity. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) intensified efforts to achieve inflation and exchange rate stability while improving the efficiency of the financial sector. The financial sector experienced rapid growth and structural changes, with the strongest growth occurring in common unity banking and mortgage finance institutions. Monetary and credit aggregates expanded at unprecedented rates, matching the all-time highs of the oil boom era of the mid-seventies. The Cost Of Home Ownership In Vermont, 1975-1990, Arthur G. Woolf
New England Journal of Public Policy
Housing prices in Vermont, like those in the other New England states, shot up dramatically during the economic boom of the 1980s. This article investigates the causes of that price increase and focuses on the cost of home ownership in Vermont in the years 1975 to 1990. Cost of home ownership is defined as the percentage of family income needed to finance an average-price home. Although prices skyrocketed during the 1980s, the actual cost of home ownership as a percentage of income was about 15 percent greater in 1990 than it was during the mid-1970s. This paper examines adjustment issues in Nigeria, with emphasis on identifying outstanding and emerging problems after SAP, ln achieving the above objective, the paper is divided into three ports as follows: Part I, discusses the main economic problems three years of Pre-SAP as well as analysing trends in major economic indicators and the factors underlying the trend, The main element and policy strategies of SAP are also examined in this part. This paper discusses the interplay of crowding-out and crowding-in effects of policy reforms in the context of growth-oriented adjustment programs in developing countries, and to highlight some of the policy implications. A discussion of the nature and determinants of the two phenomena in a developing-country content is given in Section ll. Section lll presents some conclusions and practical implications of the analysis.

Several studies have established that a significant positive relationship exists between export expansion and economic growth. In this study we examine the effect of export growth on factor productivity in Africa. It is seen that export expansion significantly enhances economic growth in Africa.

Changing demographics and economic factors are focusing national attention on adult learning as a major resource for solving many of the nation 's social and economic dilemmas. However, adult learners, the poor especially, face obstacles to educational advancement even where tuition is waived or incentive grants are given. Despite the considerable recent growth of adult education, the vast number of those who need it the most are not as yet participating. This paper examines the effects of income distribution and export instability on the savings ratios of a group of 12 developed and 52 less developed countries (DCs and LDCs) for 1968-73. The effect of income distribution on savings has been studied before but not on as comprehensive a group of countries as presented here. The effect of export instability on savings has not been examined before in the literature on the determinants of savings behavior. It has, however, been discussed in the literature on the relationship between export instability and economic growth and part of the purpose of this paper …
