The purpose of this study is to analyse public expenditure growth in Malaysia for the period of 1970-2000. This paper investigates the existence of a long-run relationship between national income and various categories of public expenditure as proposed by Wagner's Law. In Wagner's framework, public expenditure can be treated as an endogenous factor that suggests that public expenditure grows as a result of growth in national income. Causality is expected to run from national income to public expenditure. This contradicts the famous Keynesian doctrine that treats public expenditure as an exogenous factor. In this study, we examine the long-nm relationships of the exchange rate of ringgit Malaysia through three difference methods. Firstly, we estimate the ringgit Malaysia with a simple Big Mac index. The results show that the ringgit Malaysia is undervalued since 1993. Secondly, we used the co-integrating techniques to examine the long-run relationship of the exchange rate of ringgit Malaysia against United States dollar vis-a-vis other Asian currencies, namely Japanese yen and Singapore dollar against United States dollar. The development of Resource Based Industries (RBIs) in Malaysia since it was first launched in 1984 has seen as turning point of the industry to gain momentum in line with the corresponding industrial policy. By using the two inputs Cobb-Douglass model specifically growth accounting model, this study tries to estimate the total factor productivity (TFP) growth for the periods of 1981-1997 in collaboration to review its development and resilient performance. This research will examine the impact of bond ratings on market efficiency and stock returns. The study covered rating announcements from 1996 to 2001. Four types of rating announcements were covered namely initial announcement, reaffirmation, upgrades and downgrades. Each rating is categorized into investment grade and speculative grade. The mean adjusted model was used to determine the abnormal returns. The findings showed insignificant movement in abnormal returns for all type of ratings and also the sub-category of speculative and investment grades. Using trend and ratio analysis, this study analyses the performance of Islamic banking operations at three foreign banks in Malaysia i.e. HSBC, OCBC and SCB:MB. Using the data from 1996-2000, it is possible to track progress and evaluate performances of the Islamic Banking Scheme (IBS) versus its conventional counterpart at these banks.
