Assessing Speech & Swallowing Therapy Needs Of Childhood Cancer Survivors, Kierstin Dewey
Research on Capitol Hill
Approximately 420,000 childhood cancer survivors are currently living in the United States. The rise in survival rates makes the need for professionals to help improve quality of life for pediatric cancer survivors a high priority.
Speech and swallowing can be largely impacted In children receiving radiation therapy for cancers of the head, neck, or brain (hereafter referred to as HNBC). Cancer tumors themselves, as well as cancer treatments, cause acute and long-term side effects that cause pain, restricted range of motion, and decrease in overall function of the structures necessary to communicate, eat, and drink.

This explanatory sequential mixed methods study focuses on gaining an overall understanding of the potential variances in self-efficacy in information security and security practice behavior in the deaf population. Very little is understood about the deaf experience when engaging in security practices and their confidence levels in doing so. Due to the fastpaced nature of cyber security and its many facets, the human factor plays a crucial role in the success of cyber security. What Are We Hiding? Preventable Causes Of Death Are Not Accurately Counted For Adults With Intellectual Disability, Scott D. Landes
Population Health Research Brief Series
This research brief reports on findings from a recent research on errors in cause of death reporting on death certificates for individuals with disabilities. Analyzing the death certificates of over 30,000 adults with developmental disabilities who died between 2012 and 2016, Landes and his collaborators found that nearly half of death certificates identify a developmental disability itself as the direct cause of death for individuals with disabilities.

An Exploration Of The Experience Of Adults With Learning Disabilities Through Art, Adi Greenboim-Zimchoni
Expressive Therapies Dissertations
This study employed arts-based research with phenomenological, qualitative inquiry to understand and explore the perspectives of adults with learning disabilities and their sense of self and support in inclusive and special education classrooms in Israel during their school years. In this study, the researcher attempted to take Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory (1979) one step further by examining the participants’ feelings and relationships with the people in their daily lives during childhood. The researcher met with 12 participants ages 18-31 diagnosed with learning disabilities between third and eleventh grade.
