The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to explore the lived experiences of MFT trainee shame, self-criticism, and self-compassion. Additionally, this study also sought to understand how those experiences may affect a trainee’s clinical work as a first-time practicum student. Interviews were conducted with 15 trainees in a graduate program who were performing therapy at a practicum site. Utilizing Moustakas’ transcendental phenomenology, six essential themes emerged: (1) shame and self-criticism are interrelated and can affect therapeutic presence; (2) self-criticism can have a positive impact on clinical work; (3) trainees use metaphors to describe shame and self-criticism (4) self-compassion …

This study used a qualitative approach with an exploratory, descriptive design. Research data were collected through open questionnaires and focus group discussions. This study used a randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The sixteen participants from State Junior High School 3 Comal, Indonesia, were selected through nonprobability sampling with purposive sampling. The participants were divided into experiment and control groups. For the research instruments, this study used The Self-Disclosure Questionnaire developed by Jourard to measure students’ self-disclosure. The obtained data were analyzed using the repeated measures ANOVA test. Purpose: Suicide is a leading cause of death in children; youth who identify as LGBTQ+ are at an exponentially higher risk of suicide. The purpose of this study was to explore the lived experiences of young adults who identify as LGBTQ+ and sought emergency care for suicidality when they were adolescents.

Methods: Heideggerian hermeneutics phenomenology is the research method used in this study. It is essential to develop a work culture that supports faculty needs, be it professional for promotion and tenure, or personal. This phenomenological study examined the lived experiences of collegiality by early-career counselor educator faculty members (CES) working in a CACREP institution. Relational support, expectations, administration, and doctoral experiences emerged as themes from these narratives. Implications for the field are discussed to address these experiences and provide recommendations to counselor education faculty and departments.

Wellness infused supervision may help CITs foster personal wellness and mitigate deleterious effects of helping. The symptoms of smartphone addiction have been extensively observed in adolescent students. This study aims to investigate the effects of smartphone addiction on students’ communication with their families, their learning, as well as guidance and counseling processes. The causal correlational design was applied, involving 103 participants selected total samplings of eighth-graders junior high school students. The data was garnered through the smartphone addiction scale and family communication scale. Both of those scales had item validity of 0.3, with Alpha Cronbach reliability of 0.937 and 0.850, respectively. The obtained data were analyzed using regression. Transgender/non-binary experiences and identities are often represented in academic literature through narratives of distress and are often pathologized through a medical lens. This holds implications for the field of psychotherapy, as interventions aimed to support transgender/nonbinary individuals often focus solely on risk mitigation. This article presents a therapeutic framework that rests on three pillars—Play, Pleasure, and Possibility—as the focal points for reimagining work with transgender/non-binary clients. This model aims to help this population explore gender transition with more ease through building practical skills, cultivating personal and collective pride, and centering pleasure equity.
