Twitter’S Role As The New Newswire; Why Journalists Should Break News Online, Eliza Mackintosh
Honors Theses and Capstones
This dissertation examines the role of Twitter as the new newswire in breaking news. Bears, Baby Carrots, And The Colbert Bump: An Analysis On Stephen Colbert's Use Of Humor To Set The Public's Political Agenda, Dominique Mckay
Masters Theses
In recent years, political satire has risen in popularity and recognition as an effective means of transmitting political news to a younger generation of voters. Results showed users spent significantly more time with the raw video format than with the other two formats. Time spent was strongly correlated with post-test recall of elements of each story, but there was no direct relationship between format and recall. A model is proposed …

On Sport and Society
For the past six weeks if you were around anything even vaguely connected with college sport, you were subjected to repeated references to “March Madness.” The only phrase that even remotely approaches “March Madness” in frequency of use is “student athlete.” If you prefer hyperbole over hypocrisy then, no doubt, you prefer “March Madness” over “student athlete.”
