The advent of digital media has seen legacy news organisations record a decline in revenue as audiences shifted online, where access to information was relatively cheaper and more convenient. Newspaper circulation plummeted, and so did their revenue as advertisers followed the audiences online, where the media were abundant and could pay less. Nuclear energy experts consider commercial power from fission to be a strong contender to help mitigate the increasing effects of climate change, in part due to its low-to-no carbon emissions. Nevertheless, nuclear energy’s history, including meltdowns such as Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima, and dumping in sacred Indigenous land such as Yucca Mountain, raises important concerns in public deliberation over nuclear power. These communicative dynamics are crucial to study because they inform larger conversations in communication scholarship about the role of experts in scientific controversies and the complicated nature of public trust in and engagement with science. Mass shootings continue to plague the United States, even during a global pandemic. Superficial changes in an attempt to combat mass shootings have been made while avoiding systemic issues related to mass shootings. A potential systemic method to deal with mass shootings is to change how media covers such events. Articles from the archive of the Huffington Post were selected from the observation period of 2014 through 2019. Variables related to three categorical groups were coded to determine how these events differed across the observation period. Little scholarly historical information is available about the experiences of Black musicians in the Soul and R&B genres aside from information pertaining to a few specific musicians who are most popularly discussed. This thesis investigated the experiences of mid-range Black, Soul, and R&B musicians from the Delta who were successful in the 1960s but are currently less popularly discussed through a qualitative content analysis of print media articles. In this autoethnography, I explore the companionship experience of someone supporting a cancer patient who is endeavoring to thrive in the face of this disease. A wide range of studies has been conducted on the emotional and social issues relating to cancer and specifically to breast cancer. Appropriately, most of the research relating to the personal narrative focuses on the stories of the person who has been diagnosed with cancer, and limited research has highlighted the perspective and experiences of their companions. The assessment of media literacy is a complex task, which might attempt to reconcile a research field traditionally developed within a critical paradigm with the task of evaluating and quantifying media literacy competences through essentially quantitative methods. Expressions Of Power In Health Care Providers’ Experiences And Behavior, Breakthrough Research

This brief describes a secondary cross-country qualitative analysis that investigated how power manifests and can be shifted to optimize provider behavior change (PBC) approaches across health areas and geographical contexts. Breakthrough RESEARCH explored how four interrelated domains of power are differentially experienced by health care providers (HCPs) based on one’s position and function within the health system in Kenya, Malawi, Madagascar, and Togo. The results are intended to help promote quality reproductive, maternal, and newborn care by offering insights for PBC programming. This capstone project is located at the intersection of Critical Prison Studies, Gender Studies, Sound Studies, and American Studies. It highlights the importance of sonic modes of anti-carceral resistance by featuring the recorded voices of incarcerated people through the creation of a sonic archive of prison writings. By integrating that sonic archive into the podcast medium, this project functions as a digital archive for incarcerated voices, consisting of two tracks: a collection of short-spoken readings by queer and transgender incarcerated authors, and podcast-style interviews with activist scholars, organizations, and sound artists working towards prison abolition. Merci Mon Héros (MMH) is a mixed media campaign that catalyzes young people as co-leaders to improve intergenerational communication and young people’s family planning (FP) and reproductive health (RH) outcomes. Breakthrough ACTION co-facilitated and codeveloped this youth-led campaign in francophone African countries while the Breakthrough RESEARCH project was tasked with evaluating the MMH campaign to determine the most significant changes in the communities exposed to the mixed media campaign in Niger and Côte d’Ivoire.
