While media literacy education experienced significant growth in Turkey during the early part of the decade, since the attempted coup on July 15, 2016, Turkish educators have struggled with uncertainty and social mistrust generated by the disappearance of independent journalism and the arrests of many thousands of educators, judges, and researchers. This longitudinal study of media literacy teachers in Turkey examines the professional challenges that media literacy teachers experienced between 2015 and 2020 as they adapted to increased fear and the risks associated with teaching about media. This working paper presents the first recorded interaction between the author and the generative AI system ChatGPT, written on February 22, 2023 during the initial weeks of a faculty sabbatical in Boston. The document preserves a complete and unedited transcript of an exploratory conversation conducted without predetermined research aims, marking the author’s first encounter with a large-language-model conversational interface. Although the exchange includes creative experimentation—including musical and poetic prompts—the discussion remains informal and wide-ranging, and no theoretical framework is articulated at this stage. This duoethnographic study examines the relationship between motion and stasis in creative practice through the lens of two creative educators working in postgraduate and undergraduate Creative Industries. Drawing on our combined experiences as practitioners and educators at SAE University College, we explore how creative blockages can be reframed as productive rather than problematic, challenging dominant productivity paradigms in contemporary creative industries and education. The purpose of this qualitative study was to investigate how Generation Z’s on TikTok influences their communication patterns in professional and social contexts, with specific attention to the role of politeness and impoliteness. Addressing a gap in communication scholarship, digital-native practices reshape established theories of interaction and affect workplace expectations were examined. Using a phenomenological design, data was collected from 30 semi-structured interviews and 300 open-ended survey responses to capture a broad and deep account of Gen Z communication. Navigating Legal Labyrinths: Health Communication And The Experiences Of Immigrant Healthcare Professionals In The Us Healthcare System, Sabahat Moughal, Sarah Price

This study examines how immigrant healthcare professionals experience immigration-related stress, cultural tension, and communication demands within U.S. clinical environments. A survey of 55 clinicians at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center showed varied levels of cultural conflict and socioeconomic worry, as well as frequent adjustments to communication styles. While many participants reported feeling culturally stable, a significant portion experienced tension or uncertainty tied to immigration status. These findings highlight the wide range of adaptation experiences among immigrant clinicians, supporting the need for institutional awareness and targeted support. This study from Montclair State University researchers in the Joetta Di Bella and Fred C. Sautter III Center for Strategic Communication in the College of Communication and Media shows that the volume of political posts on X (formerly Twitter) may not reflect actual voter behavior. The gap between post volume about candidates and real election votes was nearly 40% in the analyzed case of the New Jersey gubernatorial election. Contributing factors to this gap may include the volume of ostensibly “American” political accounts that are foreign sourced, bot-based activity, and overall platform infrastructure/algorithms. Language barriers between English-speaking supervisors and Spanish-speaking workers create safety risks on U.S. construction jobsites. Hispanic workers face higher injury and fatality rates, with miscommunication being a major contributing factor. Existing translation tools lack the accuracy, cultural context, and jobsite relevance needed for effective safety communication.

In this study a mobile application with construction-specific safety phrases in English and Spanish was designed and field tested. This study examines how social media shapes beauty standards and consumer behaviors among female Generation Alpha (ages 7–13). As the first generation fully immersed in digital culture, these young girls face early exposure to influencer marketing, algorithmic promotion, and adult beauty practices, which influence their skincare routines and product preferences. Drawing on early models of research teams, we argue that contemporary labs function as living systems that integrate research, teaching, mentorship, and community engagement. The essay outlines practical considerations for creating and maintaining labs, including recruitment, infrastructure, leadership succession, and digital presence, while emphasizing the importance of flexibility and autonomy. Rather than viewing labs as static organizational units, we position them as relational ecosystems that evolve through connection, shared purpose, and adaptability across time and institutions. How female faculty receive credit for their work may account for the discrepancy in women advancing to the highest ranks. This single-institution case study explored institutional practices and policies as they related to workload satisfaction and rewards for female faculty. Following the framework from the Faculty Workload and Rewards Project, FWRP, the case used the constructs of equity-minded faculty workloads to shape the analysis. Data collection is an effective way to build a better Graph Neural Network (GNN) model, but it also makes it easy for attackers to implant backdoors into the model through data poisoning. In this work, we propose a backdoor detection method of graph for data collection scenarios (CGBD). Different from most existing backdoor detection methods of Neural Network (NN) models, especially the Deep Neural Network (DNN) models, the difference in predictions of backdoor samples in clean and backdoor models is exploited for backdoor detection in CGBD. The purpose of this study was to examine representations of older and younger women in four horror films: The Leech Woman (1960), The Shining (1980), The Witch (2015), and The Substance (2024). Regarding horror film narratives, research suggests aged women are often depicted as wicked and lacking mental faculties, while young women with idealized and privileged body types are often fetishized. According to Creed (2023), these harmful, oppressive depictions are informed by male anxieties about women in patriarchy.
