Low Achieving Deaf Adults: An Interview Survey Of Service Providers, Geoffrey A. Mathay, Ron H. Lafayette

The prevalence rates of, and vocational support services available and missing for the low achieving deaf adult population in the Pacific Northwest region are investigated. Interviews with 40 professional service providers indicate a minimum 30% to 50% of clients are considered low achieving deaf adults. Professionals identified fifty-seven support service activities needed by low achieving deaf adults which are currently unavailable or inadequate.

A Transition Program For Hearing-Impaired Students: Their Perceptions Of The Process Of Change, Deborah L. Gough

This study was conducted in an effort to gain an understanding of the experiences of hearing- impaired students participating in a year-long transition program, specifically addressing students' own perceptions of personal change.

Ten hearing-impaired students volunteered to participate as informants in the qualitative study. A series of in-depth interviews was conducted throughout the course of the transition program. Videotapes and transcripts of the interviews were then analyzed to assess patterns or themes of experiences and change common to the informants.

A Comparison Of Sex-Role Attitudes Of Hearing And Deaf Young Men And Women, Linda K. Stauffer, Greg Long

Legislation in recent years has provided unparalleled opportunities for the vocational development of deaf persons. Previous studies conducted in the early 1980's indicated that deaf men and women hold much more traditional views of their sex roles than their hearing peers. The purpose of this study was to examine whether deaf adolescents still hold significantly more traditional sex-role attitudes than their hearing peers. A 25-item survey scale was administered to hearing and deaf high school students replicating studies conducted by Anderson and Krueger (1982) and Kolvitz and Ouellette (1980). Acceptance Of Hearing Loss And Adjustment Of Deaf And Hard Of Hearing Young Adults, Amatzia Weisel, Jerry Reichstein

Responses to the possibility to "cure" deafness were used in the present study as an indirect measure of acceptance of the hearing impairment and general adjustment pattern of Hard of Hearing (HH) and Deaf(D) young adults. Data from 43 members of the Organization of Hard of Hearing and Deafened and from 49 members of the Association of the Deaf were collected by structured interviews. Data included background information, areas of difficulties as well as responses to the possibility to "cure" deafness—for the subjects themselves and for various groups of hearing impaired people. Purpose – The main purpose of this paper is to investigate and analyze the web contents, and navigational strengths of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) library websites using standard evaluation criteria followed globally and to give suitable suggestions for improving/upgrading their library websites.

Design/methodology/approach – Survey of 18 IIT library websites in India based on a 100-items checklist. The IIT library websites were checked and evaluated during August 2019 and again verified between the periods of 10^th September – 25^th September 2019.
