This exhibition project addresses the central question: How can we creatively transform academic library spaces to support and engage students in critical information literacy? The project used physical library space to install a series of exhibitions at the San Marcos Campus Library of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. Guided by the theoretical frameworks of Foucauldian perspective on knowledge and discourse, Falk and Dierking’s Contextual Model of Learning, and critical librarianship, the exhibit series engages students in a self-guided journey to discover and evaluate how knowledge is constructed, produced, and disseminated. As a result, 500,000 items will need to be shifted to other locations or off-site storage. Alumni Oral Histories: A Collaboration Between The Libraries And Development And Alumni Relations, Rebeccca Ciota

This article describes a collaboration between Grinnell College’s libraries and its Office of Development and Alumni Relations on an oral history project in which college alumni are interviewed about their experiences at the college. Such close collaborations between development offices and libraries are rare. This collaboration was successful due to the equal participation of all parties.

Hands-on activity to help participants find a diversity of materials to support their communities and expand their collections. This will range from identifying relevant book and media awards to finding ways to promote these materials. We will also include discussion of how to advocate for policy statements expressing the value of diverse, accessible collections as well as ways to advocate for funds to support these collections. The study investigates availability and utilization of reference sources in academic libraries in Nigeria. It is undertaken as a descriptive survey research design. The population of the study is post graduate students in University of Port Harcourt, totalling 1,264. The simple random sampling technique was used to select the sample. The sample size is (118) post graduate students. Validation of the instrument was done by experts in guidance and counselling department. The reliability was done using cronbach alpha with reliability coefficient of 0.80. The researcher and two trained research assistants distributed the instruments. This poster session will discuss how a collaborative virtual art exhibit between the Art Department and Library Services showcased distance learners’ work. Virtual art exhibits meet many needs and goals. These exhibits can be free or lower cost than a traditional art exhibit, reach more individuals as all they need is an internet connection, and provide a lower barrier to displaying one’s artwork. As higher education embraces students’ desire for active learning, experiential learning, and service learning, the support needs of teaching faculty also change. In the spirit of providing high-quality, relevant support, librarians at Michigan Technological University partnered with Ithaka S+R to explore the evolving teaching needs of Business Faculty. Twenty percent of Australians reported having a disability in 2015. Disability may occur at any time during the lifespan, however most disabilities are invisible. When a disability is invisible, or not immediately apparent to an outsider, individuals may need to self-identify to access inclusive services, or accommodation may never be offered at all.

When the perceived number of information seekers with a disability is low, information organisations may deem services unnecessary. Considering information access is a human right, information service providers and researchers need to seek low cost and low effort ways to facilitate information access and information seeking behaviors. …

In the Fall of 2018, Grand Valley State University (GVSU) joined twelve other institutions to participate in an Ithaka S+R study to understand the pedagogical support needs of business school faculty. Each participating institution served as a research site with a local team of researchers. This report will outline the methodology, findings, and recommendations for instructional faculty, librarians, and administrators.

The study aims to find out the level of privacy awareness among the users of the Academic Social Networks (ASNs). To accomplish the study some relevant literatures were studied and an online survey was conducted. The study showed that most of the academicians were not aware of their online privacy. The study was conducted on the basis of responses collected from 457 respondents only. Depending on the findings of the online survey a framework of guidelines was proposed for the social media service providers and the academicians to ensure better online privacy and thus promote the trustworthiness of the ASNS. …
