Urban areas have discrete differences in their land surface temperatures (LST) compared to rural areas. These regions are covered with impermeable materials with less vegetation and moisture. Consequently, this phenomenon causes major thermal intensities of different land surfaces, negatively impact people and environment. The objective of this project is to examine and to compare land surface temperature obtained from in-situ data and satellite-based observations in order to understand the diurnal variation and heat transfer at each surface type. The phenomenological experience of lexical retrieval involves conscious and active attempts to retrieve semantically related information, but the direct influence of this retrieval process on subsequent retrieval is presently unknown. We investigated the influence of passively viewing or actively retrieving different types of information at the critical moment preceding lexical retrieval through a novel priming paradigm. Participants attempted to retrieve target words (e.g., FOLIAGE) from their low-frequency definitions or descriptions (e.g., the leafy parts of a plant or tree, collectively). International Journal of Lifelong Learning in Art Education

Intergenerational (IG) learning has the potential to reinforce ageist ideas, through the culturally produced binary of old and young which often describes IG learning. This research with older artists revealed implicit age bias associated with a modernist tradition in art education which minimized the value of art production viewed as feminine. Language associated with ageism shares the descriptors of the feminine and seep into our perceptions. Cooperative action research with multi-age participants facilitated personal growth and through critical reflection, implicit ageism revealed in the researcher’s prior perspective is revealed.

Leaf-ing a Legacy is the story of a university art education class that joined with an elementary classroom and residents in a long term health/rehabilitative center through a service-learning project that utilized digital technology and art making in a problem-based learning format to explore the concept of legacy. Evidence was found that the experience promoted socio-emotional learning and fostered the building of socio-emotional capital for the participants involved.

Therefore, students are moving away from browser based Web environment into the mobile app-centric world. The study investigates the use of mobile devices in learning foreign languages in Afe Babalola University. The aim of this research is to give a detailed description of local media working in Basque language, hence, providing a backdrop for other minority language local media. Our approach is to offer data based on a questionnaire distributed among 65 local media with a response rate of 84%, ten in-depth interviews and a focus group. The data revealed a total publication of 200.000 copies with potential for a 70 page newspaper, 400.000 readers, almost 300 employees and more than 1.000 collaborating individuals. Archaeological excavations undertaken by URS/AECOM at the Red Rose Transit Site from 2008 through 2010 revealed late 18^th and early 19^th century A horizon/yard deposits, a stone-lined well, a redware kiln and evidence of brass manufacturing in the south half of Lot 104. These deposits and features located beneath 19^th century train shed tracks at the corner of Chestnut and Queen Streets produced a small quantity of domestic queensware. Excavations at the Smith-Maskell Site (28CA124) in the Spring of 2011 by URS Corporation revealed a number of early 19th-century features behind what was once 318 Cooper Street in Camden, New Jersey. These features produced significant quantities of Federal period tea and tablewares, including a number of Philadelphia Queensware vessels. During this period Camden was beginning its transition from a scattering of sparsely populated villages to a city of summer residences and country retreats for Philadelphia’s well-to-do middle class. The likely owners of the Philadelphia Queensware found at the Smith-Maskell Site were among this prosperous middle class, and thus the …

Ongoing archaeological excavation undertaken by URS/AECOM along the I-95 corridor in Kensington-Fishtown in Philadelphia have brought to light 18^th and 19^th century domestic and industrial life along a three-mile section of the Delaware River waterfront. Excavation has revealed over 400 shaft features, yard deposits, and industrial foundations yielding over one million artifacts from a three mile section of the Delaware River waterfront. A small quantity of domestic queensware has been recovered from barrel and wood-lined box privies and from an early 19^th century drain feature. The recovery of domestic queensware in Kensington-Fishtown has revealed that this ware …
