Teen pregnancy is considered a worldwide public health issue. According to United Nations Population Fund (2014), Mozambique was reported to be the country with the highest teen pregnancy rate in the Southern Africa region. The key purpose of this study is to explore socio-economic and demographic characteristics that influence modern contraceptive use of currently married women aged 15-49 in Myanmar. This study is contributing to fill the literature gaps at the national level. This thesis aims to investigate whether the variation in sex composition of children can explain the variation of Vietnamese women's fertility desire. Vietnam has experienced rapid fertility decline since the middle of the 20th century but within a broader context of strong cultural norms regarding son preference. Vietnam, like many developing countries, is undergoing a rapid pace of population ageing but within a resource limited context. Therefore, understanding the factors that are important to later life well-being has become a key policy issue. Using data from the 2011 Vietnam National Aging Survey, this thesis aims to investigate gender differences in the direct and indirect impacts of education on subjective well-being of older Vietnamese based on four domains: happiness, life satisfaction, loneliness, and depression (N=2,789, including 1,683 females and 1,106 males). This dissertation investigates the impacts of migration and remittances on human capital development of left-behind children in Cambodia. It contributes new evidence to a controversial debate in the literature on long-term impacts of migration and of remittances on the children. Envy is an unpleasant emotion characterised by the feelings of inferiority, hostility, and resentment produced by an awareness of another person or group of persons who enjoy the desired possession which can motivate the envious person in two different paths, destructive (named malicious envy) and competitive (benign envy). This research presents an experimental design which involves real-effort task to study the quantitative difference between both types of envy. E-commerce is rapidly developing along with the development of information technology in China. This paper is aimed at analyzing the contribution of E-commerce on the trading sector in China and estimating the macroeconomic and sectoral impact of E-commerce respectively by using fixed effect panel data based on the data from seven selected regions in China over the period of 2008-2016. The study found that E-commerce plays a significant and positive role in the economic growth at either macroeconomic level or sectoral level. This paper uses ex-post gravity analysis to examine whether Thailand's 12 effective free trade agreements cause trade creation or trade diversion effect. The sample of the study covers 43 countries over the period of 1991-2016. The model is specified with the aim to obtain unbiased estimates of three FTA dummy variables, representing trades within and outside the trade blocs. This study is able to analyze only 7 out of 12 total FTAs due to multicollinearity problem. This paper investigates the impact of Global Production Networks (GPNs) on the industrial development in 3 aspects; domestic value added, labor productivity, and export performance, employing Trade in Value Added database at the country-sector level from Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The estimation is based on pooled time series, cross section and period fixed effect covering Automotive industry in 4 selected ASEAN countries; Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Philippines from 1995 to 2016. Using daily indices for several East Asian and Asian emerging stock markets from 5 January 1995 to 31 December 2018, this study investigates the volatility comovement of the stock market returns in using the DCC-MGARCH model. The empirical results depict that the volatility comovement among East Asian stock markets have increased in recent years. Moreover, this correlation is stronger in the developed markets of Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea. Volatility comovement across emerging countries, namely, China, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines, has also increased. This article, through the data of the Statistics Bureau of Thailand in 2007 and 2015, examines whether remittances brought about by economic migration will affect household expenditure patterns. This study includes three expenditure patterns: education expenditure, housing expenditure, food and beverage expenditure. The result shows remittances have no effect on housing expenditures. Families receiving remittances, the non-poor households pay more on education than the poor households. And poor households always have more expenditure on food and beverage than non-poor households.
