Transforming The Center: Inter-Religious Dialogue, Contemporary Popes, And A Faith-Inspired Path For Peacebuilding, Christopher Hrynkow, Maria Power

Abstract

This article maps two distinct bodies of thought before moving to a synthesis discussion, which proceeds in dialogue with the contributions of Pope Francis to fostering substantive peace. The first section presents select challenges and promises of employing inter-religious dialogue as a tool for peacebuilding. The article then positions papal contributions coupling inter-religious dialogue and peacebuilding. A synthesis section analyzes how Francis is buttressing this connection in particular ways with reference to his notion of building up cultures of dialogue and encounter. A Comparison Study Of The Typologies Of Terrorist Organizations Using Geographic Information Systems, Michael Alaimo, Yonghong Tong

International Journal of Peace Studies

This study uses a geographic information system (GIS) and a zero-inflated negative binomial regression model to evaluate if terrorist organizations that display a higher level of abstract/universal characteristics are more lethal in individual terrorist attacks than those organizations that exhibit a higher level of limited/political characteristics The results from the zero-inflated negative binomial regression model indicate that indeed there is an association between organizations that demonstrate a higher degree of abstract/universal characteristics and higher fatality rates in individual attacks. Likewise, terrorist organizations with a greater degree of limited/political characteristics were determined to produce less fatalities in individual attacks.

In 2018, the International Campaign to Ban Landmines – Cluster Munition Coalition (ICBL-CMC) encouraged the universalization and full implementation of the Mine Ban Treaty and Convention on Cluster Munitions, with a focus on three goals:

• No more use of landmines or cluster munitions
• A significant decrease in land contaminated by landmines and cluster munitions
• Measurable progress in the quality of life for victims of mines and cluster munitions

This was done through advocacy activities and through the publication of the most comprehensive research data on landmines and cluster munitions in Landmine and Cluster Munition Monitor reports.

What Motivates The Authors Of Video Game Walkthroughs And Faqs? A Study Of Six Gamefaqs Contributors, Michael J. Hughes

Walkthroughs, also known as FAQs or strategy guides, are player-authored documents that provide step-by-step instructions on how to play and what to do in order to finish a given video game. Exegetical in their length and detail, walkthroughs require hours of exacting labor to complete. Yet authors are rarely compensated for work that markedly differs from other kinds of fan creativity. To understand their motivations, I interviewed six veteran GameFAQs authors, then inductively analyzed the transcripts. Open coding surfaced five themes attributable to each participant. Budget allocation decisions have become far more complex and difficult. One obvious reason is the shift from print to electronic purchases. This along with the lack of increased funding to sustain these collections has created a scenario in which all purchasing decisions need to be made with precise planning. This article examines the fund structure review conducted at the Trinity University Coates Library, which sought to identify best practices and better capture how much is being spent on resources beyond print and electronic. More specifically, the review sought to include open access (OA) resources into the fund structure.

While compensation accounts for roughly 90 percent of K-12 instructional costs, there is little evidence of efficient or strategic design in these systems. Rigid salary schedules reward factors generally unrelated to effectiveness, induce field shortages, and encourage inequitable allocation of professional staff. Deferred compensation systems impose sharp penalties on mobility, promote early retirement and generate large unfunded liabilities. Serious attempts to bring greater efficiencies to K-12 spending and raising teacher quality must confront the dysfunctional compensation system.

Technical communicators are often at the forefront of Enterprise Content Management, as their job involves the creation, utilization, and distribution of most corporate content. The research conducted for this project examines the impact that Enterprise Content Management, influenced by evolving technology, has had on the expectation associated with the skillset of a technical communicator. Additionally, how technical communicators can grow and expand their skillset to serve as leaders in an ever-evolving industry is explored.

Women, Work, And Wage Equity In Agricultural Labour In Saiss, Morocco, Bipasha Baruah

This article documents wages and working conditions for landless female and male agricultural labourers in Morocco. We found that higher-paid, equipment-intensive tasks were predominantly assigned to men, whereas women often performed lower-paid, time-intensive tasks. Women were systematically paid less than men even when they performed the same tasks. Enforcing existing legislation in Morocco to ensure equal pay for women is an essential first step towards enabling women to benefit equitably with men from their agricultural labour contributions. A revalorisation of the importance of agriculture is also necessary so that agricultural labour is not perceived as an occupation of last resort.

In March 2015, Wilfrid Laurier University administration announced that WLU Press would be integrating with the Laurier Library. Media coverage of this announcement has been mixed, and is an indication of the ambivalent response to library-press collaborations or integrations, in both the university press and library communities. This article considers the WLU case at its current early stage of development, discussing this transformation not necessarily as “progress” but as one response to a rapidly shifting scholarly environment. Having previously implemented and executed two comprehensive surveys examining food insecurity, nutrition, and health among Fayetteville intermediate students attending Owl Creek (Fitzpatrick et al. 2009), and Springdale high school students (Fitzpatrick et al. 2015), the current work examined food insecurity at several levels of aggregation in Washington County. The first part of the project entailed cataloging the 32 census tracts in Washington County based on their risk for being food insecure. This summary is based on 20 face-to-face interviews among individuals selected by local service providers that were representative of clients in Northwest Arkansas that have previously been, currently are, or may be at risk to experience food insecurity. The interviews were held throughout Northwest Arkansas, often in the participant’s home, at restaurants, Genesis Church, or 7 Hills Homeless Center, during June and July 2018. Participants were compensated $100.00 for completing a 60- to 90-minute interview. ในปี พ.ศ. 2568 จะปีการเปิดเสรีให้กับผลิตภัณฑ์นมเป็นสินค้าปลอดภาษีทั้งการนำเข้า-ส่งออกโดยสมบูรณ์ ซึ่งจะเกิดผลกระทบทั้งทางบวกและทางลบต่อประเทศไทย สำหรับผลกระทบทางบวก คือ ประเทศไทยมีโอกาสในการส่งออก ผลิตภัณฑ์น้ำนมไปยังตลาดที่มีขนาดใหญ่ขึ้น ในขณะที่ผลกระทบทางลบที่อาจเกิดขึ้น คือ อุตสาหกรรมผลิตภัณฑ์นมของ ประเทศไทยอาจไม่สามารถแข่งขันในตลาดโลกได้ ส่งผลให้เกษตรกรอาจต้องเลิกกิจการและเลิกอาชีพการเลี้ยงโคนม อันเป็นผลมาจากประสิทธิภาพการผลิตในระดับฟาร์มโคนมทั้งในเชิงปริมาณและคุณภาพที่ค่อนข้างต่ำ ปัญหาการขาดแคลน แรงงานที่รวมถึงแรงงานต่างด้าวที่ทยอยกลับประเทศ การขาดเกษตรกรรุ่นใหม่ที่จะสืบสานอาชีพของครอบครัว ประกอบกับ การที่สังคมไทยเข้าสู่สังคมผู้สูงอายุ (aging society) การประกอบอาชีพโดยใช้แรงงานเป็นหลักเช่นเดียวกับในอดีต ไม่อาจจูงใจให้คนรุ่นใหม่เข้าสู่อาชีพนี้ได้ อย่างไรก็ตาม เนื่องจากประเทศไทยมีความได้เปรียบในด้านพื้นที่ตั้ง ที่เป็นศูนย์กลางของภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ซึ่งปัจจุบันได้มีการส่งออกผลิตภัณฑ์นมไปยังประเทศเพื่อนบ้านซึ่งมีมูลค่า มากกว่าหนึ่งหมื่นล้านบาทต่อปี จึงเป็นโอกาสในการขยายตลาดไปยังประเทศเพื่อนบ้านเพิ่มขึ้น รวมทั้ง การส่งออกไปยังตลาดขนาดใหญ่ เช่น ประเทศจีน และตลาดที่มีศักยภาพที่จะซื้อผลิตภัณฑ์นมจากประเทศไทย เช่น สิงคโปร์ บรูไน มาเลเชีย และฮ่องกง เป็นต้น จากสถานการณ์ดังกล่าว ทั้งนี้ ภายใต้ภาวะคุกคามต่อความอยู่รอดของอุตสาหกรรมโคนม และอาชีพการเลี้ยงโคนมของประเทศไทย รวมทั้ง การใช้โอกาสการเปิดการค้าเสรีผลิตภัณฑ์นมเพื่อเป็นประโยชน์ในการขยายตลาดการส่งออกของไทย อุตสาหกรรมการเลี้ยงโคนมของประเทศไทยจึงมีความจำเป็นต้องปรับเปลี่ยนวิธีการเลี้ยงและ การจัดการฟาร์มโคนม เพื่อเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการผลิตและคุณภาพการผลิต ให้เกิดขึ้นอย่างรวดเร็วและทันต่อสถานการณ์ ก่อนที่จะสูญเสียโอกาสเหล่านี้ไป

โครงการศึกษาวิจัยเรื่อง "การสื่อสารการตลาดแนวใหม่เพื่อสร้างความเชื่อมั่นในเรื่องราวของสินค้าและการตัดสินใจซื้อ" จัดทำขึ้นเพื่อพัฒนาองค์ความรู้ใหม่ เป็นการวิจัยนำร่องเพื่อให้ทราบถึงวิธีการสื่อสารโดยการใช้สื่อต่างๆ การสื่อสารการตลาดแนวใหม่เพื่อสร้างแนวทางการทำธุระกินใหม่ ๆ โดยเฉพาะการใช้ประโยชน์จากสื่อใหม่ เช่น สื่อสังคมออนไลน์ โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษารูปแบบ วิธีการ และช่องทางในการสื่อสารการตลาดแนวใหม่ที่เหมาะสมในยุคสังคมออนไลน์ และเพื่อใช้เป็นแนวทางนำร่องในการสร้างความรู้และความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับการใช้สื่อใหม่ในองค์กรธุรกิจ ผลการวิจัยจากโครงการนี้ อาจนำไปเป็นแนวทางในการพัฒนากลยุทธ์การสื่อสารแนวใหม่ผ่านการเล่าเรื่อง (storytelling) สำหรับสินค้า ที่ต้องการปรับตัวให้เข้าสู่เศรษฐกิจเชิงสร้างสรรค์ (creative economy) เน้นการสื่อสารที่ใช้เนื้อหาและเรื่องราวที่สร้างสรรค์เพื่อให้กลุ่มเป้าหมายเกิดความประทับใจและเพิ่มคุณค่าให้สินค้ามากยิ่งขึ้น ความเชื่อมั่นในเรื่องราวของสินค้าที่เกิดขึ้นในใจของผู้บริโภค ผ่านการเล่าเรื่องถือเป็นการสื่อสารที่โน้มน้าวด้วยข้อมูลที่เป็นข้อเท็จจริง ไม่บิดเบือนใดๆ เป้นการสร้างอารมณ์ร่วมเพื่อให้เกิดการคล้อยตามและมีผลต่อการตัดสินใจซื้อสินค้าของผู้บริโภค โดยกระตุ้นเกิดความรู้การจดจำ และความสนใจต่อสินค้า ซึ่งจะเป็นารสนับสนุนการทำเศรษฐกิจเชิงสร้างสรรค์ได้อย่างกลมกลืนเป็นไปนิศทางเดียวกัน

โครงการศึกษาความเป็นไปได้ในการจัดตั้งศูนย์เรียนรู้ความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพและภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นสำหรับคนเมือง มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อจัดแสดงนิทรรศการให้ความรู้ด้านความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพและภูมิปัญญาสำหรับประชากรที่อาศัยอยู่ในเขตกรุงเทพมหานคร ซึ้งมีแนวโน้มพึ่งพาเทคโนโลยีที่สะดวกสบายอันนำไปสู่การนำเข้าและบริโภคทรัพยากรจากต่างประเทศที่เพิ่มขึ้น ขณะเดียวกันก็มีโอกาสในการใช้เทคโนโลยีทำลายสิ่งแวดล้อมทางธรรมชาติ รวมถึงไม่มีการสืบทอดมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมภูมิปัญญาของชุมชนท้องถิ่น ส่งผลให้ประเทศไทยสูญเสียความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพและองค์ความรู้ภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น จึงมีความจำเป็นที่ต้องมีการจัดตั้งศูนย์เรียนรู้ความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพและภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นสำหรับคนเมือง เพื่อส่งเสริมการกระตุ้นให้สังคมคนเมืองตระหนักถึงการใช้ประโยชน์ทรัพยากรทางชีวภาพที่มีความหลากหลายด้วยภูมิปัญญาชุมชนและท้องถิ่น เกิดกระบวนการเรียนรู้ที่สร้างสรรค์ ด้วยสถานที่ที่คนเมืองเข้าถึงง่าย มีความน่าสนใจเชื่อมโยงถึงวิถีชีวิตคนเมืองโดยการออกแบบจัดสรรพื้นที่อย่างน่าสนใจมีประสิทธิภาพ เพื่อให้คนเมืองได้รับองค์ความรู้ในเรื่องของความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพและภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นและสามารถนำไปประยุกต์ใช้ในชีวิตประจำวัน สำนักงานพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจจากฐานชีวภาพ (องค์การมหาชน) ซึ่งมีพันธกิจในการส่งเสริมและสนับสนุนการเพิ่มมูลค่าการใช้ประโยชน์ความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพและภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นและธุรกิจชีวภาพด้วยการใช้สหวิทยาการที่เกี่ยวข้อง เห็นความสำคัญของการจัดตั้งศูนย์เรียนรู้ฯ โดยนำเสนอกรอบแนวคิดรูปแบบนิทรรศการที่เหมาะสม ทำเลที่ตั้งที่เอื้อต่อการเข้าถึงของคนเมือง และความคุ้มค่าทางการเงินในการจัดตั้งศูนย์เรียนรู้ฯ

จากนโยบายของประเทศไทยที่ให้ความสำคัญกับการดำเนินงานวัฒนธรรมตามแนวทางของแนวคิดเศรษฐกิจ สร้างสรรค์และวัฒนธรรมสร้างสรรค์ (Creative and Cultural Economy) โดยการนำทุนทางวัฒนธรรมของประเทศ มาสร้างคุณค่าทางสังคมและเพิ่มมูลค่าทางเศรษฐกิจ การให้ความสำคัญต่อการพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมสร้างสรรค์จึงมุ่งไป ที่การเชื่อมโยงระหว่างทุน 6 ทุน คือ ทุนธรรมชาติ ทุนกายกาพ ทุนสังคม ทุนมนุษย์ ทุนการเงิน และทุนวัฒนธรรม โดยทุนวัฒนธรรมเป็นจุดศูนย์กลางที่เชื่อมโยงกับทุนประเภทอื่น ๆ เพราะทุนวัฒนธรรมเปรียบเสมือนกิจกรรมต้นน้ำ ในห่วงโซ่มูลค่าของอุตสาหกรรมสร้างสรรค์ ทั้งนี้ เมื่อประเทศไทยจะก้าวย่างเข้าสู่ประชาคมอาเซียนในปี พ.ศ. 2558 สิ่งหนึ่ง ที่ได้กำหนดไว้เป็นเสาหลักที่ 2 ในเรื่องประชาคมสังคมและวัฒนธรรมที่มีต่อการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจ สังคม และวัฒนธรรม ในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ โดยมุ่งเน้นความร่วมมือเฉพาะด้านเพื่อผลักดันให้ประขาชนมีสภาพความเป็นอยู่ และคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีขึ้น ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับแผนพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจและสังคมแห่งชาติ ฉบับที่ 11 (พ.ศ. 2555-2559) ที่กำหนดให้ มีการสนับสนุนทางด้านวัฒนธรรมเพื่อนำมาใช้ประโยชน์อย่างบูรณาการ เกื้อกูลกัน นำความรู้ และสร้างจุดแข็งของ อัตลักษณ์ไทยบนฐานนวัตกรรมที่เข้มแข็งเพื่อเชื่อมโยงกับเศรษฐกิจโลกและเศรษฐกิจในภูมิภาค (สิรางค์ กลั่นคำสอน, 2555)

ในปัจจุบัน Smart City หรือเมืองอัจฉริยะเป็นหนึ่งกระแสที่กำลังพัฒนากันทั่วโลก ซึ่งเป็นการนำเทคโนโลยีดิจิทัลมาปรับใช้กับเมืองเพื่อให้มีความน่าอยู่ มีความสะดวกสบาย สามารถเข้าถึงบริการสาธารณะของเมืองได้อย่างรวดเร็วซึ่งส่งผลถึงการพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีขึ้น ของประชากรเมืองในยุคการสื่อสารไร้สายเช่นนี้ โทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่เป็นอุปกรณ์ที่สำคัญที่ได้ถูกนำมาใช้เป็นหนึ่งในเทคโนโลยีเพื่อพัฒนาเมืองอัจริยะด้วยสังคมไทยเริ่มก้าวเข้าสู่สังคมผู้สูงวัยมาตั้งแต่ปี 2548 อันเป็นผลจากการที่อัตราการเกิดของคนไทยลดลงรวมไปถึงการเปลี่ยนแปลงของยุคโลกาภิวัฒน์ ที่ทำให้ปัจจุบันการติดต่อสื่อสารผ่านโทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่เข้ามามีบทบาทในชีวิตประจำวันของหลายคนมากขึ้น โดยเฉพาะกลุ่มวัยสูงอายุ จากการสำรวจการมีการใช้เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศและการสื่อสารในครัวเรือนประจำปี 2558 โดยสำนักงานสถิติแห่งชาติ พบว่าแนวโน้มของการใช้โทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่เพิ่มขึ้นจากร้อยละ 66.40 ในปี 2554 เป็นร้อยละ 79.30 ในปี 2558 ซึ่งมีอัตราการเพิ่มขึ้นเฉลี่ยปี ละประมาณร้อยละ 3.23 นอกจากนี้การสำรวจยังพบว่ากรุงเทพมหานครมีผู้ใช้โทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่มากที่สุด คิดเป็นร้อยละ 90.30 (สำนักงานสถิติแห่งชาติ 2558)คงปฏเสธไม่ได้ว่าโทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่เป็นเครื่องมือหนึ่งที่นอกจากจะมีไว้ในการติดต่อ สื่อสารกับบุตร หลาน ครอบครัวเพื่อนได้ง่ายแล้ว ยังเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของชีวิตที่ช่วยอำนวยความสะดวกสบาย แต่อย่างไรก็ตามการใช้โทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่นั้นไม่เพียงแต่ส่งผลต่อการเชื่อมโยงด้านการติดต่อสื่อสาร ยังสามารถส่งผลกระทบต่อสุขภาพในหลายด้าน เช่น ภาวะการนอนหลับ ภาวะซึมเศร้า อาการปวดหัว และการทำงานของสมอง เป็นต้น (Seitz et al., 2005) นอกจากนี้ การศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการใช้โทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่ในผู้สูงอายุของประเทศญี่ปุ่น พบว่าผู้สูงอายุเพศชายที่ใช้โทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่จะมีภาวะซึมเศร้าในระดับต่ำกว่าผู้ที่ไม่ได้ใช้โทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่ และการใช้โทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่ส่งผลต่อการส่งเสริมภาวะด้านจิตใจ ด้านการเข้าสังคมของผู้สูงอายุเพศหญิงอีกด้วย (Minagawa and Saito, 2014)จากผลกระทบทางสุขภาพกายและจิตใจทั้งทางบวกและลบของการใช้โทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่ในผู้สูงอายุ การศึกษาวิจัยในครั้งนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างพฤติกรรมการใช้โทรศัพ ท์เคลื่อนที่ต่อคุณภาพชีวิต และคุณภาพการนอนหลับของผู้สูงอายุในเขตกรุงเทพมหานคร เพื่อให้ผลงานวิจัยนี้สามารถนำไปเป็นแนวทางส่งเสริมและสนับสนุนการพัฒนาสุขภาพของผู้สูงอายุในชุมชนเมืองได้ต่อไป

การออกแบบพัฒนากังหันพลังน้ำเพื่อเศรษฐกิจแบบพอเพียง หมู่บ้านโป่งลึก-บ้านบางกลอย, สุพรรณี บุญเพ็ง

บ้านโป่งลก (หมู่ที่ 2) และบ้านบางกลอย (หมู่ที่ 1) อยู่ในตำบลห้วยแม่เพรียง อำเภอแก่งกระจาน จังหวัดเพชรบุรี ห่างจากที่ทำการอุทยานแห่งชาติแก่งกระจานประมาณ 50 กิโลเมตร บริเวณที่ตั้งของหมู่บ้านติดอยู่กับแม่นํ้าเพชรบุรีตอนต้น พื้นที่มีความสูงจากระดับนํ้าทะเลปานกลางประมาณ 150 เมตร (กรมอุทยานแห่งชาติ สัตว์ป่าและพันธ์พืช, 2560) ประชาชนที่อาศัยอยู่ในทั้งสองหมู่บ้านเป็นชาวปกาเกอะญอที่ย้ายลงมาจากบางกลอยบน (หรือกเรียกว่า ใจแผ่นดิน) มีชวิตความเป็นอยู่ที่เรียบง่าย ประกอบอาชีพเกษตรกรรม มีความเชื่อในเรื่องผีสาง นางไม้ เจ้าที่เจ้าทาง เจ้าป่า เจ้าเขา และนับถือศาสนาพุทธและคริสต์ แม่น้ำเพชรบุรี เปรียบเสมือนสายธารแห่งชีวิตของคนในพื้นที่บ้านโป่งลึก-บ้านบางกลอย ปัญหาที่สำคัญมากปัญหาหนึ่ง ของชุมชนบ้านโป่งลึก-บ้านบางกลอย คือ การผันน้ำจากแม่นํ้าเพชรบุรีขึ้นมาใช้ในการอุปโภคบริโภคและเพื่อการเกษตรกรรม เนื่องจากพื่นที่พักอาศัยและพื้นที่ทำกินของชุมชนที่ได้รับสิทธิในการถือครองที่ดินเพื่อการทำกินนั้น (พื่นที่ CN) เป็นพื้นที่ ที่อยู่ในระดับที่สูงกว่าแม่นํ้าเพชรบุรีมาก นอกจากนั้น การที่ไฟฟ้าและน้ำประปายังเข้าไม่ถึง ทำให้การทำเกษตรกรรม สามารถทำได้เฉพาะในฤดูฝน เท่านั้น ส่งผลใหัรายได้ต่อครัวเรือนอยู่ในระดับต่ำ แต่ละครัวเรือนจึงมีฐานะยากจน จึงมีการเข้าไปทำงานรับจ้างใช้แรงงานในเมืองแทนการทำเกษตรกรรมกันเป็นจำนวนมาก แต่อย่างไรก็ตามยังคงมี อีกร้อยกว่าหลังคาเรือนที่ยังคงอาศัยอยู่ในหมู่บ้านและส่วนใหญ่ยังประกอบอาชีพเกษตรกรรม ซึ่งมีความจำเป็นต้อง ใช้น้ำในการอุปโภคบริโภคและเกษตรกรรม โดยวิธีการผันน้ำ/ดึงน้ำขึ้นไปใช้ โดยการใช้เครื่องปั๊มนํ้าแบบเครื่องยนต์ที่ต้อง ใช้น้ำมันเข้ามาใช้ในหมู่บ้าน ซึ่งมีทั้งที่เป็นของส่วนรวมและมีเพียงไม่กี่เครื่องที่เป็นของส่วนตัว ในปัจจุบัน การสูบนํ้าเพื่อใช้ในระบบประปาหมู่บ้านมีการใช้พลังงานจากแสงอาทิตย์ (solar cell) เป็นหลัก ชึ่งได้รับการสนับสนุนงบประมาณจากหน่วยงานต่าง ๆ ทั้งนี้ การใช้พลังงานจากแสงอาทิตย์เพื่อสูบนํ้าจะขึ้นอยู่กับแสงแดดที่มีในแต่ละวัน หากวันใดเเสงแดดน้อยหรือไม่มีแสงแดดจะไม่สามารถสูบน้ำได้ นอกจากนั้น ปั๊มเครื่องสูบนํ้าชนิดจุ่มหรือปั๊มซับเมอร์ส (submersible pump) ยังพบว่าเกิดปัญหาบ่อย ๆ ระบบการทำงานในช่วงแรกที่ยังไม่เสถียรนัก ทำให้ไม่สามารถสูบน้ำขึ้นมาได้ในปริมาณที่มากพอกับความต้องการใช้น้ำได้ จึงเกิดผลกระทบกับเกษตรกรที่ทำการเพาะปลูกหลังทำนา ซึ่งไม่สามารกทำการเกษตรได้ตลอดปี อีกทั้ง เชลล์ผลิตพลังงานแสงอาทิตย์เป็นอุปกรณ์ที่มีราคาแพงและยากต่อการช่อมบำรุง ด้วยตนเอง ดังนั้น การใช้กังหันพลังน้ำ จึงเป็นทางเลือกอีกทางหนึ่งสำหรับเกษตรกรในพื้นที่
