การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาปัจจัยในการเลือกเรียนโขนนอกวิทยาลัยนาฏศิลป์ในเขตกรุงเทพมหานคร โดยมีกลุ่มเป้าหมายเป็นนักเรียนที่เลือกเรียนโขนและศิลปะแขนงอื่น ๆ จำนวน 331 คน จากการสุ่มเลือกแบบเจาะจงกลุ่มจากโรงเรียนทั้งหมด 10 โรงเรียน โดยใช้รูปแบบการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจ มีแบบสอบถามและการสัมภาษณ์เป็นเครื่องมือในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากกลุ่มตัวอย่าง ผ่านการวิเคราะห์ระดับปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการตัดสินใจในการเลือกเรียนโขน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการตัดสินใจในการเลือกเรียนโขนนอกวิทยาลัยนาฏศิลป์ ในเขตกรุงเทพมหานคร ประกอบด้วยกลุ่มปัจจัย 7 กลุ่ม ได้แก่ (1) ประโยชน์ของนาฏศิลป์โขนที่มีต่อตนเอง (2) ความสามารถทางโขน (3) ความคุ้นเคยเกี่ยวกับโขน (4) ความสอดคล้องเหมาะสมต่อตนเอง (5) สิ่งตอบแทนจากภายนอก (6) ทัศนคติของคนรอบข้าง (7) อาจารย์ผู้สอนและสถาบัน 2) ปัจจัยภายนอก 3 ตัว คือ สิ่งตอบแทนภายนอก ทัศนคติของคนรอบข้าง และอาจารย์ผู้สอนและสถาบัน ได้ส่งอิทธิพลไปยังปัจจัยภายใน ได้แก่ ความคุ้นเคยเกี่ยวกับโขน ความสามารถทางโขน ความสอดคล้องเหมาะสมต่อตนเองและประโยชน์ของนาฏศิลป์โขนที่มีต่อตนเอง 3) ปัญหาและอุปสรรคในการเรียนโขนสำหรับผู้เรียนนอกวิทยาลัยนาฏศิลป์ ในเขตกรุงเทพมหานคร พบว่า (1) อาจารย์ผู้สอนและสถาบันเน้นที่การแสดงเป็นหลัก (2) โรงเรียนหรือสถาบันไม่มีอาจารย์ผู้สอนที่เป็นผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านโขนโดยตรงหรือมีอาจารย์ผู้สอนไม่เพียงพอ (3) ขาดความต่อเนื่องสม่ำเสมอในการพัฒนาทักษะการแสดงโขน (4) โอกาสในการแสดงความสามารถมีน้อย (5) สถาบันขาดการยอมรับจากสังคมว่าเป็นสถาบันที่ดีมีคุณภาพ

การวิจัยนี้มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างระบบการเลือกตั้งและการจัดการเลือกตั้ง ในฐานะเครื่องมือทางการเมืองที่สะท้อนเป้าหมายทางการเมือง และ ได้นำมาสู่ผลลัพธ์ทางการเมืองอย่างไร ในบริบทการเมืองไทยตั้งแต่รัฐธรรมนูญ 2540 ถึงปัจจุบัน โดยแบ่งการศึกษาเป็น 3 ประเด็นได้ แก่ (1) บริบททางการเมือง อันเป็นปัจจัยในการกำหนดเป้าหมายทางการเมือง (2) ระบบการเลือกตั้งและการจัดการเลือกตั้ง และ (3) ผลลัพธ์ทางการเมือง โดยใช้การศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพที่อาศัยการวิเคราะห์เอกสารเป็นหลัก หน่วยการศึกษาได้แก่ ระบบการเลือกตั้ง และการจัดการเลือกตั้ง ผลการศึกษาพบว่า (1) บริบทการเมืองในช่วงเวลาต่างๆเป็นตัวกำหนดเป้าหมายของผู้มีอำนาจในการกำหนดกติกาในช่วงเวลานั้น โดยได้ใช้ระบบการเลือกตั้งและการจัดการเลือกตั้ง เป็นเครื่องมือหนึ่งในการบรรลุเป้าหมายดังกล่าว (2) ระบบการเลือกตั้งและการจัดการเลือกตั้งต่างๆ ได้ถูกนำมาใช้ต่างสอดคล้องกับเป้าหมายทางการเมืองที่ต้องการให้เป็นและผลลัพธ์ที่คาดว่าจะเกิดขึ้น (3) ผลลัพธ์ไม่เป็นไปตามเป้าหมายเสมอไป โดยปัจจัยที่ทำให้ผลลัพธ์ไม่เป็นไปตามเป้าหมายเสียทั้งหมดที่สำคัญได้แก่ โลภาภิวัฒน์ กระแสการตื่นตัวทางประชาธิปไตย วัฒนธรรมการเมืองไทย อันเป็นพลวัตรภายในสังคมไทยเอง ซึ่งสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความสำคัญของพื้นที่การเลือกตั้งในการเมืองไทยที่ยิ่งทวีความสำคัญมากยิ่งขึ้น ดังนั้นระบบการเลือกตั้งและการจัดการเลือกตั้งจึงมีความสัมพันธ์ ในฐานะเครื่องมือของการบรรลุเป้าหมายทางการเมือง และเป็นหนึ่งในปัจจัยสำคัญที่ก่อให้เกิดผลลัพธ์ทางการเมืองสืบเนื่องต่อมา ทั้งในรูปแบบที่บรรลุหรือไม่บรรลุเป้าหมายทางการเมืองนั้นๆ

การเมืองไทยภายหลังการรัฐประการ พ.ศ. 2557นี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อการศึกษาปรากฏการณ์ทางการเมืองไทยหลังการรัฐประหารพ.ศ. 2557 และการปรับตัวของการเมืองไทย ภายใต้กรอบแนวคิดว่าด้วย Bureaucratic polity หรือ รัฐราชการ โดยใช้การศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพ วิเคราะห์เอกสาร งานวิจัย โดยมีหน่วยการศึกษาคือ สถาบันทางการเมืองเป็นหน่วยในการศึกษาในฐานะตัวแสดงที่สำคัญในระบบการเมือง ผลการศึกษาพบว่า (1) การเมืองไทยภายหลังการรัฐประหารเมื่อ 22 พฤษภาคม 2557 มีลักษณะเป็นการเมืองแบบรัฐราชการ โดยอาศัยระบบราชการเป็นตัวแสดงที่สำคัญในการบวนการนโยบาย ทั้งการเสนอนโยบาย การนำนโยบายไปปฏิบัติ สถาบันภายนอกระบบราชการ พรรคการเมือง ภาคประชาชนจำกัดบทบาททำให้ไม่สามารถตรวจสอบการทำงานของรัฐบาลได้ (2) การเปลี่ยนแปลงโครงสร้างทางการเมือง ทำให้การกลับมามีบทบาทนำอีกครั้งของรัฐราชการ ไม่สามารถดำรงรูปแบบรูปเดิมได้ รัฐราชการภายหลังการรัฐประหาร พ.ศ. 2557 มีลักษณะที่สำคัญคือ 1) การใช้เครื่องมือทางรัฐธรรมนูญและกฏหมายเพื่อผนวกรัฐราชการให้อยูในโครงสร้างที่เป็นทางการของระบบและสถาบันทางการเมือง 2) มีการผนึกกำลังระหว่างรัฐราชการกับกลุ่มทุนใหญ่เพื่อเอื้อประโยชน์และค้ำจุนซึ่งกันและกันอย่างชัดเจน 3) ใช้พลังของระบบราชการฝ่ายทหารควบคุมระบบการเมืองโดยมีพลังของระบบราชการค่อยสนับสนุน

การปฏิรูปกฎหมายเงินบริจาคพรรคการเมือง : เปรียบเทียบไทยกับญี่ปุ่น, พงศกร ยาห้องกาศ

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาเปรียบเทียบการปฏิรูปกฎหมายเงินบริจาคแก่พรรคการเมืองระหว่างไทยกับญี่ปุ่นใน 3 ประเด็น ได้แก่ (1) เป้าหมายและกระบวนการ (2) มาตรการที่ใช้ (3) ผลลัพธ์ โดยใช้การศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพที่อาศัยการวิเคราะห์เอกสารเป็นหลักและสนับสนุนด้วยข้อมูลสถิติเงินบริจาคแก่พรรคการเมือง หน่วยศึกษา ได้แก่ กฎหมายควบคุมเงินบริจาคและข้อมูลเงินบริจาคของพรรคการเมืองในปีที่มีการเลือกตั้งทั่วไป ผลการศึกษาพบว่า (1) ไทยและญี่ปุ่นกำหนดเป้าหมายในการปฏิรูปต่างกัน โดยการปฏิรูปของไทยต้องการสร้างความโปร่งใสและลดอิทธิพลของกลุ่มทุน ในขณะที่ญี่ปุ่นต้องการลดปริมาณเงินโดยรวมของการเลือกตั้ง ด้านกระบวนการพบว่า การปฏิรูปของไทยมีตัวแสดงที่มีส่วนร่วมน้อย โดยมักเป็นการตกลงระหว่างชนชั้นนำทางการเมืองและคณะกรรมการการเลือกตั้ง ในขณะที่ญี่ปุ่นมีการต่อรองระหว่างกลุ่มการเมืองหลายกลุ่ม (2) มาตรการควบคุมของไทยขาดความรอบคอบ แม้ว่าจะใช้การผสมผสานกันหลายมาตรการแต่ยังคงมีช่องว่างและไม่สามารถปฏิบัติได้จริง ส่วนมาตรการของญี่ปุ่นนั้นมีความรัดกุมและชัดเจน (3) ไทยและญี่ปุ่นประสบปัญหาการควบคุมเงินบริจาค โดยสาเหตุของไทยเกิดจากช่องว่างของกฎหมายและการขาดความสามารถในการบังคับใช้กฎหมายส่วนญี่ปุ่นเกิดจากขาดการควบคุมองค์กรจัดการเงินทุนและองค์กรโคเอ็นไกซึ่งทำให้นักการเมืองเข้าไปมีปฏิสัมพันธ์กับผู้บริจาคในตลาดมืด

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มุ่งศึกษาเกี่ยวกับกระบวนการทางนโยบายในการตัดสินใจพัฒนาโครงข่ายรถไฟระหว่างเมือง ช่วงรัฐบาลยิ่งลักษณ์และรัฐบาลประยุทธ์ เพื่อแสดงให้เห็นและอธิบายถึงความแตกต่างเพียงเล็กน้อยของนโยบายที่เกิดขึ้นกับทั้ง 2 รัฐบาล การวิจัยประการแรกคือนโยบายที่เกิดขึ้นระหว่าง 2 รัฐบาลไม่มีความแตกต่างกันมากนัก ซึ่งความคล้ายคลึงกันของนโยบายของทั้ง 2 รัฐบาล เป็นมาจากการที่ทั้ง 2 รัฐบาลเลือกใช้การพัฒนาโครงข่ายรถไฟระหว่างเมืองเป็นเครื่องมือในการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจ ส่งผลให้เมื่อนโยบายดำเนินไปสู่ขั้นการนำไปปฏิบัติผู้เข้ารวมประกวดราคาส่วนใหญ่ล้วนเป็นบริษัทธุรกิจรับเหมาก่อสร้างขนาดใหญ่ ทั้งๆ ที่รัฐบาลประยุทธ์มีความพยายามที่จะเปลี่ยนแปลงให้บริษัทธุรกิจกิจรับเหมาก่อสร้างที่มีขนาดเล็กกว่าสามารถเข้าสู่กระบวนการประกวดราคาให้มากขึ้นจากการวิจัยพบว่าความเชื่อมโยงกันระหว่างเป้าหมายในการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจของรัฐบาลกับการที่บริษัทธุรกิจรับเหมาก่อสร้างขนาดใหญ่เป็นผู้ดำเนินการสร้างในโครงการรถไฟทางคู่ฯ สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงการมีสถานะพิเศษของบริษัทธุรกิจรับเหมาก่อสร้างขนาดใหญ่จึงส่งผลให้นโยบายในเรื่องดังกล่าวของทั้ง 2 รัฐบาลมีความคล้ายคลึงกัน การวิจัยประการที่สองคือความต่อเนื่องของระบบราชการในส่วนที่มีความเกี่ยวข้องกับกระบวนการทางนโยบาย ทั้งๆ ที่การเปลี่ยนแปลงของฝ่ายบริหารนำไปสู่การเปลี่ยนแปลงของผู้มีตำแหน่งทางการเมือง หากแต่ตำแหน่งและบทบาทของฝ่ายข้าราชการยังคงเหมือนเดิม ส่งผลให้ฝ่ายข้าราชการสามารถพัฒนาและขับเคลื่อนนโยบายในช่วงของทั้ง 2 รัฐบาลไปในทิศทางที่ค่อนข้างคล้ายคลึงกัน ดังนั้นจึงสามารถสรุปได้ว่านโยบายการพัฒนาโครงข่ายรถไฟระหว่างเมืองมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงเกิดขึ้นระหว่างช่วงรัฐบาลยิ่งลักษณ์และรัฐบาลประยุทธ์เพียงเล็กน้อยเท่านั้น

“There Is Nothing Inherently Mysterious About Assistive Technology”: A Qualitative Study About Blind User Experiences In Us Academic Libraries, Adina Mulliken

Eighteen academic library users who are blind were interviewed about their experiences with academic libraries and the libraries’ websites using an open-ended questionnaire and recorded telephone interviews. The study approaches these topics from a user-centered perspective, with the idea that blind users themselves can provide particularly reliable insights into the issues and potential solutions that are most critical to them. Most participants used reference librarians’ assistance, and most had positive experiences. High-level screen reader users requested help with specific needs. A larger number of participants reported contacting a librarian because of feeling overwhelmed by the library website. In some cases, …

One challenge to understanding mechanisms of behavior change (MOBC) completely among individuals with alcohol use disorder is that processes of change are theorized to be complex, dynamic (time varying), and at times non-linear, and they interact with each other to influence alcohol consumption. We used dynamical systems modeling to better understand MOBC within a cohort of problem drinkers undergoing treatment. We fit a mathematical model to ecological momentary assessment data from individual patients who successfully reduced their drinking by the end of the treatment. Among other provisions of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement, a new clause on encryption technology (‘Encryption Clause’) is particularly noteworthy. By tracing the history of decades-long encryption control, this article underscores how this clause implicates international order. Modern encryption technology was conceived and developed during World Wars. Painted by such a war-time legacy, encryption has been treated as a ‘dual-use’ technology and has been subject to export control since the end of World War II via the Coordinating Committee for the Control of Multinational Trade (COCOM) and, later, the Wassenaar Arrangement. Do Disaster Experience And Knowledge Affect Insurance Take-Up Decisions?”, Jing Cai, Changcheng Song

This study examines the effect of experience and knowledge on weather insurance adoption. First, we conduct insurance games with farmers, and find that the treatment improves real insurance take-up by 46%. The effect is not driven by changes in risk attitudes and perceived probability of disasters, or by learning of insurance benefits, but is driven by the experience acquired in the game. Second, we find that providing information about the payout probability has a strong positive effect on insurance take-up. Finally, when subjects receive both treatments, the probability information has a greater impact on take-up than does the disaster experience.

Apology has been found to be the most effective strategy in times of crises. However, there is a dearth of research on the kinds of apology used and how primary stakeholders, in particular consumers, received them. This study aims to examine consumer responses to the types of apologies offered post crises against the levels of attribution of responsibility. This study explores the veracity of the six ethical variables proposed in the contingency theory of strategic conflict management – the role of PR practitioner, the role of top management, nature of the crisis, the activism of stakeholders; government regulation/intervention; diversity to different cultures and exposure external business environments. In-depth interviews with 10 communication professionals in Singapore were conducted. Short selling predicts future stock returns globally. We use 11 short-sale measures to examine the informativeness of short sales in 38 countries for the July 2006 to December 2014 period. We find that different short-sale measures display different return predictability. The days-to-cover ratio and loan supply measures have the most robust predictive power in the global capital market. We also document significant cross-country differences in the predictive power of the short selling measures and find that return predictability is stronger in countries with mild forms of short-sale restrictions, better market quality, and more developed markets.

Lateralization of behaviors and information processing are common across species. Hypothesized to be crucial for more efficient responding to environmental stimuli, lateralization has been investigated for a number of topics. Cetaceans are proposed to be hemispheric specialists, given a small corpus callosum, complete decussation of the optic nerve, and the ability to respond to a different visual stimulus presented to each eye simultaneously. Research with cetaceans has shown strong biases in a number of behaviors, including swimming, foraging, social interactions, and responses to myriad visual stimuli. Given similar evolutionary pressures, different species of cetaceans should display similar lateralized preferences. Previous …

Introduction: Family physicians provide access to medical and behavioral healthcare for many underserved populations. Integrating behavioral health clinicians into primary care practices has been proposed as one of the most effective ways to increase access to necessary behavioral health services for many Americans. Integrated behavioral healthcare (IBHC) has begun to be implemented in family medicine practices but there is limited research examining the impact for patients and clinic staff. A model of decision making is introduced that provides a unified approach for predicting choices under risk and over time. The model predicts systematic departures from expected utility and discounted utility using the same mathematical structure and the same psychological intuition and shows that a dozen diverse choice anomalies can be given a common underlying explanation. The model weights attribute differences both by their importance (consistent with expected utility and discounted utility) and by their salience or similarity (consistent with procedural models based on heuristics), and so provides a bridge between rational and heuristic representations of decision making.

Raven's Progressive Matrices are a broadly used tool for measuring cognitive ability. This paper develops and validates a set of nonverbal puzzles that can be viewed as an extension of or substitute for the well-known Ravens tasks. Specifically, we describe the characteristics of our puzzles and provide a calibration of the matrices in terms of response accuracy and response time as a function of these characteristics. Then we directly compare within-subject performance on our puzzles and Ravens tasks. It has been argued that behavior differs between transparent and nontransparent representations of a decision. However, the notion of a ‘transparent representation’ has not been precisely defined. We address this gap by providing formal definitions of ‘transparent frames’ for risk and time, establishing their uniqueness, presenting an approach to construct such frames, and comparing these framesto the ‘standard’ presentation format. This research, through a qualitative study that is rooted in the philosophy of phenomenology, explores the essence South Asians’ identity formation. Vicarious traumatization (VT) describes the gradual, transformative shifts in internal experience that occur as a result of cumulative exposure to clients’ trauma material. VT is thought to develop in the therapist due to empathic engagement with clients, resulting in profound disruptions in frame of reference. Though mental health issues are prevalent in Black young adults, they underutilize mental healthcare services. This research examined the role of feature-based discrimination in mental healthcare (under)utilization. Study 1, a secondary analysis of the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health, provided no evidence supporting a link between skin tone and mental healthcare utilization, when controlling for depression diagnosis. However, when controlling for depression symptoms, there was a trend such that Black young adults with darker, as opposed to lighter, skin tone utilized healthcare less.
